The Dermal Journal

by Emma Fox

Being in the industry for over 15 years, I hear the same thing in every single skin consultation from confused clients. They don’t know what products to use, skin treatments to have or have had a bad experience getting a treatment, following trends and influencers but their skin does not improve. . And the list goes on!!!So I decided that I need to start a podcast to really help the consumers out there. I want to educate you, advise you and help you navigate this heavily flooded, unregulated industry of Skin & Skincare. It can be so overwhelming when it comes to treating your skin condition or even just looking after your skin with the right products. I am here to deconstruct and break it all down so you have a better understanding of it all.

Episodes

  1. Dermatologists - Do they really want to find and treat the root cause?

This is my opinion from what I have seen in my clinic as a result of my clients seeing dermatologists. Most of the time it is not good, their condition has not improved and in some cases has become worse with other conditions coming into play.

  2. Castor Oil

Jam packed episode talking about the gut/hormone/skin links with the ever so amazing and knowledgeable Sherdyn Dekker. Getting a better understanding of what your skin is telling you what is going on inside.

  4. It's not the Procedure It's the Practitioner

It really has nothing to do with the procedure your having, it comes down to the practitioner performing it, their training, qualifications, knowledge, experience etc. The treatment modalities, ingredients and process do not change, it's who is performing it.

There are so many different types of acne that fall under the same umbrella. And along with that comes the different ways of treating acne. So heres is a little breakdown of it all so you can better understand the world of Acne

  10. Knowing the difference - Product Ranges

This is just an overview and a brief explanation in the differences in the ranges on the market. It really only comes down to a few factors that divide the ranges.

  11. Knowing the Difference

In this podcast I breakdown the difference between a Dermal therapist and a Beauty therapist. The differences in training and scope of practice. So you have a much better understanding on who you are trusting your skin with.

  12. Introduction to The Dermal Journal

In this podcast I introduce myself, my qualifications and the reasons as to why i decided to start this podcast. I dip into the difference between a Beauty & Dermal Therapist, but go deeper into that in the next podcast. Enjoy!!
