Episode 34 | Do You Listen To Your Old Beats?

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about listening to your old beats or music. Episode 33 | Social Media Stress Pt. 1

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about the stress that may occur when posting content. Trying to keep up with trends, post that don’t perform well and even ones that do perform well. After awhile, posting on social media could cause fatigue and get to the point where you're not having fun doing what you love. It’s good to notice when your energy switches up.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Fanbase: https://www.fanbase.app/dotisthenameInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

Episode 32 | Shoutout To Ryan Leslie

What’s Good Fam? The other day I was just thinking about how the game has changed for producers. Back in the day, you kept all of your secrets and formulas of production to yourself to keep others from biting your style. Now in the information age, it’s common practice to show behind the scenes or give tips on how you create. I think for producers, Ryan Leslie was one of the pioneers as far as letting everyone see his process and it was very successful. So I just wanted to give flowers to him for helping pave the way in how we as producers currently get recognized for what we do through content creation.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Fanbase: https://www.fanbase.app/dotisthenameInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

Episode 31 | Beat Tape Shoutout Pt. 2

What’s Good Fam? Since I constantly talk about Beat Tape Themes, I decided to go through all my projects and explain the themes and stories behind them. Maybe someone can get some inspiration for their next Beat Tape. This is part 2.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Fanbase: https://www.fanbase.app/dotisthenameInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

Episode 30 | Beat Tape Shoutout Pt. 1

What’s Good Fam? Since I constantly talk about Beat Tape Themes, I decided to go through all my projects and explain the themes and stories behind them. Maybe someone can get some inspiration for their next Beat Tape. This is part 1.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Fanbase: https://www.fanbase.app/dotisthenameInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

Episode 29 | What To Do When You Can't Create

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about somethings you can do when your production process isn't going your way. I just wanted to throw out some tips that can help inspire you to get back into the swing of things.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Fanbase: https://www.fanbase.app/dotisthenameInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

Episode 28 | Beat Tape Ideas

What’s Good Fam? Today wanted to give a few Beat Tape ideas. These could be for a producer making their first beat tape or a producer who might want to change up the theme of their next project. Pretty much all 17 of my projects have a certain theme to them which helps keep the beat tape process more interesting for me. If you have any idea suggestions, or themes you have on your own projects, please share in the comments. Im always interested in the creative ways of other producers.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  8. 27

Episode 27 | Beat EP Lessions

Whats Good Fam? Today I wanted to share some things that I learned from making my last two Beat EPs (Drizzzy: Black Gold and Drizzzy: White Gold). These are my first two full projects using acapellas from the same artist so I had a different approach. You can find both projects on my Bandcamp page and the link will be in the description as well. Let me know what y’all think.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  9. 26

    Episode 26 | Half Time

Guess what fam? I made it to the half way point. This episode is a small celebration of completing 26 episodes of my podcast. I wanted to talk about what I’ve learned over the past 6 months and also give a few tips for anyone else who might want to start a producer podcast. Cheers to next 26. Can’t wait to see y’all at the finish line.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  10. 25

Episode 25 | Producers Need Rest Too

What’s good Fam? This week I wanted to talk about the importance of getting rest as a producer. Sometimes we tend to ignore the signals when our bodies get tired and that can have a negative effect on our production. But there is nothing wrong with taking some time away to rest and recharge. Plus in the end, your body and your beats will thank you for it.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  11. 24

Episode 24 | I'm On Fire Right Now

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about being in the zone as producer. You know when you get on a roll making beats and everything you’re working on is just on point?! That’s kind of how I’ve been feeling lately and I’m just grateful. Because I definitely know what it’s like to be on the other side of that. Not fun at all. What side are you on right now with your production? In the Zone or in a Drought???I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  12. 23

Episode 23 | My Strengths VS Weaknesses

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to do a little exposing of myself and get into my strengths and weaknesses as a producer/beatmaker. I decided to touch on the things I’m good at, what I have improved on and what I can get better at. I think it’s always good to take some time and reflect on how far you’ve come and where you still want to go as a producer. What are some of your strengths and weaknesses as a producer??? Let me know in the comments.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  13. 22

Episode 22 | Drums and Melodies

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about a very important producer question. What comes first, the Drums or the Melody. I mentioned this briefly in a previous episode and I just wanted to expand on it a bit more from my personal experience. My question for you is which do you preferrer to start with? Drums, Melodies or both? I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  14. 21

Episode 21 | Connection To Your Music

Whats Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about the connection you can have with your own music or beats. I think one of the most important things you can do is make music for yourself first. As long as you think it sounds good and you’re not afraid to express that, everything else will fall into place. The further you get into your journey, don’t forget to always connect to your music and stay in tuned with your passion for it. BIG FACTS!!!I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  15. 20

    Episode 20 | Beat Formulas

What’s Good Fam? On todays episode I wanted to talk about some of my beat formulas. I‘ve been producing music for over twenty five years now, and during certain time periods I find that I’ll follow a certain pattern when it comes how I make my beats. All of us producers have our own methods on how we produce our beats from start to finish. What are some of your methods or formulas when making beats?I thank you for listening Peace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  16. 19

Episode 19 | The Road to 50 Beat Tapes

What’s good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about a goal I set for myself and that is to have 50 beat tapes/EPs/projects in my discography. I ran through some of my influences and the thought process behind this decision and will be documenting the process along the way. Can’t wait to share this journey with you all. What’s one of your biggest goals as a producer? I love to hear things other people are working towards because I use that for motivation as well.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  17. 18

Episode 18 | My Weapons of Choice

What’s Good Fam? On today’s episode I wanted to talk about what equipment I use and what I use it for. Over the years I’ve worked with so many different pieces, I’ve finally narrowed it down to about the three things that I use the most. My weapons of choice. Let me know what kind of equipment y’all use to produce your musical masterpieces.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  18. 17

Episode 17 | This Is The Remix

What’s good family? On todays episode I wanted to talk about making beats using Acapellas. I definitely think this is a great way to sharpen your skills as a producer. There are so many benefits to working with acapellas and doing remixes. And stay tuned, I have a few remix projects dropping this year.I thank you for listeningPeace.Bandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enLinktree: https://linktr.ee/dotisthename

  19. 16

Episode 16 | 3 Tips When Making Beat Tapes

What’s good fam? Today I want to talk about something that I specialize in, and that would be making Beat Tapes. I’ve been doing this consistently for about 5 years now and I just wanted to share some tips that I’ve picked up along the way. My goal is to help any of you who may be starting out making a beat tape and might need some guidance in completing your project. If this episode was helpful in any way, please let me know. I definitely plan on making more Beat Tape informational content in the future.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  20. 15

    Episode 15 | A Producer's Toolbox

What’s good family? Today I wanted to talk about the tools in your Producer Toolbox. In other words the tools or techniques that you may have pick up over time on your journey as a producer. Some times we might get stuck in repeating patterns when we make beats and forget about the other tips and tricks we’ve learned over time that could help us bring out our creativity even more. What are some things that you might do to switch up your beats to make them a little more different and interesting ?I thank you for listeningPeace.

  21. 14

Episode 14 | The Power of Community

What’s good family? Today I wanted to talk about the power of community. I believe being surrounded by like minded people in whatever you’re interested in is a positive. Learning from others, having supporters and collaboration are just a few advantages of being in a community. I also believe building your own community is one of the necessary steps to success (As I am working towards building my own). How do y’all feel about joining communities??I thank you for listeningPeace.

  22. 13

Episode 13 | Finish What You Start

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about completion. I think it’s very important to finish what you start but it’s not always easy. When it comes to my projects, I always run into some kind of obstacle or distraction that might get in the way or throw me off but that’s part of the journey and beauty of completing something. Don’t you agree lol? Let me know in the comments about what you think?I thank you for listeningPeace.

  23. 12

Episode 12 | Being In The Zone

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to give my perspective on Being In The ZONE with a couple of examples of what that has looked like for me. I took it from the angle of making beat tapes and how you can get in that mode when working on a project. It’s one of the best feelings in the world and the craziest part is you might not have even known you were in the zone until after it’s all over. So if you know what Being In The Zone as far as production goes, please share your experience as well. There’s nothing wrong with another source of inspiration for others.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  24. 11

Episode 11 | Less Is More

What’s good to the Fam? Today I wanted to touch on one of my favorite phrases, Less Is More. In my opinion making simplicity work is a true skill and doesn’t get enough credit. When you think you got something good, sometimes it's best just to leave it the way it is instead of adding more and trying to force it.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  25. 10

Episode 10 | My Top Producer List

What’s Good Fam? I’ve have been talking for so long on my social media and I have finally sat down to accomplish this goal. My Top Producers List. This is a list of my favorite producers and why they are the reason that I do what it do.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  26. 9

Episode 9 | Dilla Changed My Life

What’s Good Fam? In the spirit of Dilla month, I just wanted to dedicated an episode of the podcast to J Dilla. He’s had such an influence on me and so many other producers, I felt it was only right for me to share some of my experiences surrounding that influence. Rest In Beats to one of the best to ever do it. Happy Dilla Month.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  27. 8

Episode 8 | The Genius of Sampling

Whats Good Fam? On todays episode I wanted to talk about The Genius Of Sampling, which in my opinion doesn't get talked about enough. For those of us producers who sample, when we actually take some time to breakdown the science of what we are able to do, it's pretty Amazing to say the least. I just wanted to give some insight for those who don't know and also provide a dialog for us producers to give ourselves some props every now and then. And there's nothin wrong with that.I thank you for listening. Peace.

  28. 7

Episode 7 | My Past vs My Present

What’s Good Fam? Today I wanted to talk about my past and my present as far as my production goes. Making beats over the years I found that my influences have changed and expanded and even my lifestyle changes play a part in my production. I just think it’s interesting to take a look at your journey from time to time just to understand who you were in the past and how it shapes, molds and shifts to who you are in the present. How do ya’ll feel about it ???I thank you for listeningPeace.

  29. 6

Episode 6 | Needs vs Wants

What’s good Fam? Today I just wanted to elaborate a bit on what I was taking about in the last episode and go into Needs Vs. Wants. Sometimes we think in order for us to be successful, we need certain things that we don’t have at the time. When in reality if we look at what’s already in front of us and in our possession, that might not necessarily be the case. Ya feel me??I thank you for listeningPeace.

  30. 5

Episode 5 | Too Many Plugins

Whats good Fam? Today I want to give my take on feeling like you need every single plugin in the world lol. It can get exciting to think about the music that you could create if you had the latest and the greatest. Or having access to the same tools that the “Top” producers have. But at the same time what’s wrong with mastering the tools you have right in front of you???? Ya feel me.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  31. 4

Episode 4 | When They Don't Like Your Beats

What’s Good Fam? On this episode I want to talk about that dreaded moment when people don’t like your beats or your music. Sometimes it can be a little hard to except when you know you got some HEAT!!! Lol. But you also have to remember that not everybody has the same ear as you or it’s just not to their liking. And at the same time there is nothing wrong with that and should never be a reason to stop or give up on your art.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  32. 3

Episode 3 | The 40 Year Old Producer

What’s Good Fam? On this episode I take on a trip into the mind of a 40 year old Producer. I think it’s very interesting to hear the prospective of producers 40 and up because we have we’ve been alive for the progression of Hip-Hop. Also tapping into our influences before we found this culture all the way up to our opinions of todays culture. Then you add everything we’ve experienced in between, I think that combination is priceless. Just my (bias) opinion lol.Hope you enjoy and let me know your thoughts.I thank you for listeningPeace.

  33. 2

Episode 2 | Overcoming Beat Block

Whats Good Fam? Today I just wanted to share the story of my biggest case of “Beat Block”. Ya know, that moment when you’re a producer and for some reason the thing that you are so good at, put so much time into to get good at and love the most, you can’t do…… Which is PRODUCE!!!!! Here’s a few things that I did and adjusted to get over beat block. I hoping some of these things can help someone else because I definitely know how frustrating that can be. But I also know that it won’t last forever.

    Episode 1 | Why I Make Music

The goal is to give some value through my experiences and most important, HAVE FUN! Hope you enjoy and thank you for listening. For this very first episode I wanted to get in to the reason why I make music and produce. What motivates me to not only make music but also put it out there for the rest of the world to hear as well. I think this is a good start for people to get know who I am not just as a producer but as a person. I thank you for listeningPeace.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dotisthename/Tic Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dotisthename?lang=enBandcamp: https://dotisthename.bandcamp.com/
