The Erba Massacre
by Baradello Publishing
On December 11, 2006, the quiet town of Erba, in northern Italy, became the scene of one of the country's most notorious criminal cases. Four people were killed inside an apartment building. A fifth person survived. What followed was an investigation that initially moved in several different directions before focusing on two neighbors: Olindo Romano and Rosa Bazzi. The couple were arrested, questioned and eventually convicted of the four murders. Their convictions became final in 2011. But years later, their lawyers asked the courts to reopen the case, arguing that new evidence and alternative interpretations of existing evidence could undermine the original convictions. In 2024, the Court of Appeal of Brescia rejected the request for a retrial. In March 2025, Italy's Supreme Court rejected the couple's appeal against that decision. This episode follows the entire story: the night of the murders, the investigation, the evidence, the confessi
