Natassia Miller: Spring Cleaning Your Sex Life
Episode Description On this episode of The Erica Diamond Podcast, we are going there. I'm tempted to say, let's talk about sex, baby... because that is exactly where today's conversation takes us. My guest is Natassia Miller, sexologist, intimacy coach, and founder of Wonderlust, a New York City-based sexual wellness brand. In this honest and refreshing conversation, we talk about intimacy, marriage, desire, pleasure, modern relationships, and what it really means to stay connected over time. Because intimacy, connection, communication, and pleasure are all part of wellness too. And if self-care is about caring for our whole selves, then sexual self-care belongs in that conversation too. Key Takeaways: Intimacy is not separate from wellness. A healthy sex life is part of a healthy life. Pleasure, connection, communication, and emotional safety all matter. Long-term relationships do not stay passionate by accident. Desire in marriage requires intention, curiosity, honesty, and a willingness to keep learning each other. Emotional betrayal is real. In today's world, boundaries are not always physical. Emotional affairs, sexting, and digital intimacy can deeply impact trust. Healing after infidelity is possible, but not automatic. Repair takes truth, accountability, willingness, and a shared commitment to rebuilding safety. Women deserve pleasure without shame. Reconnecting to your body and your pleasure is not selfish. It is part of feeling alive, empowered, and at home in yourself. There is no one-size-fits-all relationship model. What matters most is mutual consent, communication, honesty, and alignment between partners. Parents need to talk to teens about more than just mechanics. Consent, respect, boundaries, communication, and emotional safety all need to be part of the conversation. About Natassia Miller Natassia Miller is a sexologist and intimacy coach who helps people create more connected, playful, and fulfilling sex lives. She is the founder of Wonderlust, a New York City-based sexual wellness brand, and her work has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Glamour, GQ, and NBC. The Cost of Being "The Strong One"
Episode Description You're the capable one. The dependable one. The one who holds it all together—at work, at home, in life. But when was the last time you didn't have to be strong? In this episode, Erica explores the hidden emotional and energetic cost of always being "the strong one." Not the dramatic burnout no one sees coming—but the quiet exhaustion, disconnection, and heaviness that builds when strength becomes a survival strategy instead of a supported choice. You'll hear why strong women don't usually fall apart—they slowly dull. Why rest doesn't feel safe when control has kept you protected. And why strength without support eventually turns into self-abandonment. This conversation is for the woman who looks like she's thriving on the outside but feels tired of carrying everything alone on the inside. If you've ever wondered: Why am I so tired when nothing is technically wrong? Why does life feel heavier than it should? Why can't I just relax—even when I want to? This episode will meet you right where you are—and gently remind you that real strength includes knowing when to be held. Key Takeaways Strength isn't the problem—strength without support is. When being strong becomes your identity, it quietly becomes an expectation. Strong women don't usually crash—they slowly disconnect from joy, creativity, and themselves. Rest feels unsafe when control has been your survival strategy. You don't need to become less driven or capable—you need environments that support your nervous system. Sustainable success isn't about pushing harder; it's about creating space to recalibrate. You were never meant to carry everything alone—and you don't have to anymore. Dr. Corinne Low: Having It All and Getting The Most Out Of Your Life
Episode Description In today's episode, Erica sits down with Dr. Corinne Low — a brilliant mind from the Wharton School who's redefining what it truly means for women to "have it all." In her new book, Having It All, Corinne blends rigorous data with deeply personal stories to uncover the truth about ambition, fulfillment, and the myths that hold women back. From the burnout she experienced while juggling parenting and academia, to her powerful "life as a series of deals" framework, Corinne offers a fresh, research-backed lens for rethinking balance, success, and self-worth. This episode is an empowering, honest, and highly relatable conversation for any woman who's ever tried to "do it all." Key Takeaways: Burnout as a Wake-Up Call: Corinne shares a deeply personal story about reaching a breaking point while juggling motherhood, marriage, and an academic career — and how that moment reshaped her entire perspective on success and fulfillment. The "Deal" Framework: In her new book Having It All: What Data Tells Us About Women's Lives and Getting the Most Out of Yours, Corinne introduces the idea that every major life decision — career, partnership, family — is a "deal." Understanding and renegotiating these deals can empower women to design lives that actually serve them. Blending Data with Real Life: Corinne bridges the gap between economics and lived experience, using data to unpack societal expectations — and her own personal stories to make the findings relatable and actionable. Transforming Guilt into Growth: Many women experience guilt when chasing ambition. Corinne reframes guilt as a signal rather than a setback — an invitation to reassess priorities and boundaries, not abandon them. The Time Divide: Research shows women still spend double the time with children compared to men, often at the expense of career growth and self-care. Corinne explores the structural and cultural shifts needed to level the playing field. Redefining Success: Forget one-size-fits-all definitions. Corinne urges women to define success on their own terms — aligned with values, purpose, and joy rather than external validation. Can We Really "Have It All"? Corinne offers a modern, data-driven take on the age-old question — revealing that "having it all" isn't about doing it all, but choosing well and making intentional trade-offs. A Call for Structural Change: From workplace flexibility to cultural norms, Corinne envisions a world where women can thrive in both career and family life without sacrificing their well-being. About Dr. Corinne Low Dr. Corinne Low is a Wharton School professor, economist, and author of the new book Having It All: What Data Tells Us About Women's Lives and Getting the Most Out of Yours. She combines rigorous research with personal storytelling to explore the myths and realities of ambition, success, and fulfillment. Her work challenges conventional ideas about "having it all" and offers practical insights for women striving to design lives that truly work for them—on their own terms. Redefining Self-Care: Beyond Bubble Baths
Episode Description Hey friends, welcome back to The Erica Diamond Podcast! Today's solo episode is a deep, soulful dive into one of my biggest passions — redefining self-care. Let's be real. We've been sold a glossy, picture-perfect version of self-care — spa days, scented candles, wine nights, bubble baths. And while those things can be lovely, they barely scratch the surface of what true self-care is all about. In this episode, I take you behind the scenes of my own personal wake-up call — the burnout I didn't see coming — and share the transformational mindset shift that followed. I unpack what real self-care looks like today: setting boundaries, managing your time, prioritizing your well-being, and most of all — listening to your needs with compassion. Key Takeways You'll learn: The difference between surface-level self-care and soul-level self-care My four-part proven method: MINDSET. BODY. TIME. TRANSFORMATION. How to start creating small, meaningful habits that lead to lasting change Practical self-care tips to start using today Why releasing guilt around rest and self-prioritization is essential This episode is your permission slip to put yourself back on your own list — not someday, today. In This Episode Interview questions: What excited you about medicine going back, and deciding to specially go into internal medicine? Let's talk longevity. I know you are fascinated with how we age, but specifically how to age well. Let's talk about that. We'll get to the psychedelics after. What are things that hinder our longevity? Dr. Radowitz has a wealth of experience in treating patients with addictions and seeing firsthand the effects that trauma can have on our physical health.Dr. Radowitz joined Nushama to oversee and develop various treatment modalities because of his belief that psychedelic medicine is the future of mental wellness and that current solutions treat symptoms only and do not address the underlying issues. Annie Robert: The Intimate Relationship Between Women and Alcohol
Episode Summary Welcome back to the show! Today Erica interviews Annie Robert - viral mommy TikTocker. Annie shares all about making people around the world laugh, as well as about her recent recovery from alcohol addiction during COVID. Today we discuss the close and often dangerous relationship between women and alcohol. What often starts as clear lines, can escalate quickly into very blurry. Our "Mommy juice," and "Mommy needs her wine" culture does not serve women. In This Episode Annie, firstly, tell us a little bit about your background, how you grew up, a little bit about what your childhood and teen years were like. Can you take us back to the time where your drinking went from in check, to not in check? How did you know that line had eroded? Were you hiding your drinking? I have heard from many women with addiction on my blog over the years, and most of them describe hiding it from their friends or family. Can you describe the moment you made the decision to get sober? I imagine there were many moments, as alcoholism or any addiction is tricky. For our listeners who may be teetering on that line, what are some signs your drinking isn't in check? What advice would you have for women who may be on that slippery slope. Okay let's lighten things up. You make moms laugh. Hard! How did that start? Because I am a content creator, I am always curious with how talented people come up with content. Take us through that process. Tell me about this competition. You are ripped, Annie! What made you decide to do it, and I see you enjoy mustard? Is it hard to be so disciplined? You're a married working mom of 4 daughters! How do you juggle it all? Any tips? Annie, what would u tell your younger self What's still on your bucket list? Glenn Harrold: How Meditation and Hypnotherapy Will Change Your Life for the Better
Episode Summary Welcome back to the show! I've got to admit, I am a little starstruck by my guest today. My story with today's guest dates back to March 2020— COVID 19 virus rears its ugly head. We are brought literally to our knees with global instability, struggling economies, people being hospitalized and even dying alone not able to be surrounded by their loved. Let's take a moment to realized the trauma we have been living through -it has been a really difficult year. And despite being a meditation teacher and a meditation student for almost twenty years, I started to struggle a little with sleep at the beginning of coronavirus. As a meditation teacher on Insight Timer myself, and user of the Breethe meditation app, I was familiar with Glenn Harrold's meditations and hypnotherapies, but when my sleep started to change at the beginning of COVID, I rediscovered Glenn, and consistently, I mean religiously started meditating 7 nights a week without fail to his hynotherapies and meditations before bed. My sleep became so deep and so restorative that my husband started asking me what was going on, "You close your eyes Erica and you don't even so much as move until the morning!" Thank you Glenn! In This Episode Take us back to the beginning. How did you find meditation and hypnosis? How did you become interested in this field as your passion and career? What is meditation because many people don't truly understand what it is What are the benefits of having a daily practice? Let's talk about hypnosis. The idea scares many people. What actually is hypnosis and why is it so important to overcome issues that people struggle with - addiction, anxiety, weigh loss, smoking? If someone is feeling stressed or overwhelmed, what are a few things they can start doing now as far as meditation or hypnotherapy? How can anyone start a meditation practice? What's a few of the most common things you hear about meditation? I know I hear, "I'm not a meditation person," or "I can't quiet my mind." (What are some misconceptions about meditation?) My girlfriend who is a Glenn groupie asked me to ask you two questions. Number 1, can you do a 963 Hz for the crown chakra? And question 2, will you ever do mini 10-minute meditations for your energy system? Tell us truthfully, do you ever get stressed or anxious? You're human, so I imagine you do at times, and if so, what do YOU do? I imagine you don't meditate to your own meditations? I don't meditate to mine. What are you currently reading? When are you at your happiest? Coffee or tea? Netflix or book? Beach or lake? Where can we find your meditations and hynotherapies? About Glenn Harrold Glenn Harrold is one of the world's most successful hypnotherapists and self-help authors. He has helped thousands of clients including many celebrities in a 25-year-career and has sold over 10 million hypnosis and meditation Apps, MP3 downloads and previously CDs. Glenn has written 7 self-help books, and his main app Relax & Sleep Well has become one of the world's biggest grossing self-help Apps. On the world's number one Meditation App, Insight Timer, Glenn is one of the most popular authors. Val Desjardins, PUMP Fitness MTL: Staying Health in 2021 Mind, Body & Soul
Episode Summary Welcome back to the Erica Diamond Podcast. Between COVID, and creating my new online course Busy To Bliss, it has all has kept me away for far too long. I'm so happy to be back with you guys! And as I have come to teach over the years, although prioritizing self-care and health may seem like common sense, it's often the first thing to go when we find ourselves is challenging situations, especially during a pandemic. That's why I'm so thrilled to have Val Desjardins on today's episode. She's here to inspire us to get ourselves back on our to-do lists and care for our mind, body and soul. Before we went on lockdown, Val was also one of my coaches at her gym, kicking my ass for 60 hard minutes, which then let me reap the benefits and feel the afterglow of all that hard work. In This Episode Take me back to the beginning. We know you as Pump Fitness MTL, but I feel like I remember night club owner somewhere in your past? Tell us about that, and how you found fitness. You're an LGBTQ advocate, married to your amazing wife Jen (also in health and fitness), with your beautiful family and daughter Brooklyn. Talk to me what it was like growing up a gay woman in Montreal. As a society, we weren't nearly as progressive back then as we are today— gay marriage is legal in Quebec and thank goodness for our world finally embracing that love is love. Let's get into fitness! I wanna jump right in. First, — your body, your discipline, your regiment. We have to talk about that first. Not your clients' - please tell us about you! Tell me your secret to DISCIPLINE. Because that's the hardest part for most people - it to stay consistent. Talk to be about this stat we often hear. It's 80% food and 20% exercise to keep our bodies fit and in shape. Do you really believe this? Which leads me to, anyone can work out for an hour. It's the other 23 hours that helps determine success too. Can you speak to that? I'm going to ask you especially during COVID when we're at home and not in gyms (depending of course where you live), what 5 quick exercises you would do on a deserted island with no equipment! What are 3 things you can't live without. What are 3 things we should all give up (I'm expecting soda to be one of them?) How have you adapted during COVID? I know you followed the digital trend, but you also have your new space, The Studio MTL, which I can't wait to check out when we can! I know that I miss teaching my yoga students in person so much, it hurts. Zoom doesn't convert for me the way live human interaction does, especially for yoga. How has it been for you? How do you feel about cardio vs strength training… what balance is right? Is it ok to just do cardio? If someone is listening and they haven't made moving their body a priority, where can they start? How do they ease into a life of health and wellbeing? What do you do to relax? When are you at your happiest? When are you at your most vulnerable What would you tell your younger self? Favorite book or podcast? What are you reading and listening to these days? And finally, I ask this one a lot: What's still on your bucket list? About Val Desjardins Val Desjardins, also known as PUMP Fitness MTL, has devoted the bulk of her career to both creating and embracing an all-encompassing wellness approach. Her 20 years of experience as an athlete, coach, and entrepreneur have greatly contributed to the success of her own brand and to the launch of both her physical and digital spaces in the wellness industry. She is the owner of The Studio MTL, located in Westmount, QC, and, over the last year, she has also launched her own platform, the PUMP Digital Studio. Val's distinctive PUMP training method, which combines individualized cardio, resistance work and mat pilates, has become infamous and has attracted clients that include celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Michelle Pfeiffer and Coeur de Pirate. Ultimately, her approach is about empowering people to embrace a mindful lifestyle which she firmly believes is the path to wellness on all levels. Marci Warhaft: The Good Stripper - A Soccer Mom's Memoir of Lies, Loss and Lap Dances
Episode Summary Welcome to the Erica Diamond Podcast. Today we have a special guest, one could say, is the definition of trauma and triumph. Strength and resilience. Loss and healing. Marci Warhaft is a recognized expert on body image and self-esteem, and founder of The Fit vs Fiction body image workshops. She is a regular contributor to Optimyz Fitness magazine. One of Canada's Top 100 influencers for 2018, 2019 and 2020, she has appeared on numerous television and radio programs across North America. Marci is the author of the newly released, "The Good Stripper: A Soccer Mom's Memoir of Lies, Loss and Lap Dances" and "The Body Image Survival Guide for Parents". Let me start by saying, both of us Montrealers, I know Marci as the author of a blog post on WomenOnTheFence.com seven years ago on body image and her struggles with her eating disorder. She inspired our audience with her healing and self-acceptance. But I did not know her full story arc. Nor did most. It wasn't the life Marci Warhaft envisioned for herself. A good student who had been accepted into a prestigious theatre school, a doting mother with two young sons, and there she was taking it all off in front of paying customers to "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child. The Good Stripper is an eye-popping journey: Warhaft reveals the punishing circumstances and self-destructive behaviors that shaped her early adulthood, including a bank-robbing stepfather, the loss of her beloved brother, eating disorders, and sexual misadventures with a manipulative husband. She describes, in honest, raw, and intimate detail, her struggles to recognize what was happening to her, and her sometimes misguided fight to regain control of her destiny. Above all, it is the story of how one woman, after years of living a double life, packing school lunches by day and giving lapdances by night, finally became the inspirational leader she was. In This Episode Tell me why you wanted to tell this story. Why now? You describe your marriage as almost dysfunctional in the book. What role did your husband play in both your struggles, and your growth and evolution? What was the mental shift in your mind that had to take place for you to take to a stage with strangers watching, and take your clothes off. What was going on in your mind that made you feel that stripping would fill a void or a need? When you were Cassidy, how did that make you feel? Did you not feel like you could live out Cassidy in a safer expression? What need was being fulfilled by you choosing Cassidy? In your book, you talk about evenings in the gym working out, away from your kids in order to keep your body fit for work, all the while fueling your eating disorder. What was that time like for you? Were you able to compartmentalize your roles, meaning Cassidy had her place in your life, and then when you got home, soccer mom and wife was in the house. How did you manage those dual roles? I Can't imagine that was easy. What was your aha moment that made you stop dancing? Are there teachable moments here for your readers? If so, what are they? For anyone who may be struggling with forgiving themselves for the mistakes they made when they were just doing their best to survive, what would you say to them? Talk to me about the role of forgiveness as part of your recovery At what point did you feel the shift from survivor to thriver What would you say to your younger self today, after all your life lessons learned and so much wisdom. What have you learned in your journey. What has been life's greatest lesson to you? Beauty Expert and Makeup Artist Matthew Richard: Fall Beauty & Skincare, Trends, and Helping Women Feel Their Best, Part 2
Episode Summary We are living through difficult times. Man, I don't like saying that over and over! As we are in a 28-Day lockdown in my city, Montreal, there is definitely an aura of tension in the air. If you remember, we spoke to Matthew this summer to bring a little lightness to our show. We spoke summer beauty and skin wellness tips, and I promised you I would follow up in the fall as our skin gets dryer, our creams get heavier, and our makeup gets darker. Today I'm thrilled to have Matthew back on the show speak to us about fall beauty, beauty trends, and what are the musts for this fall. Matthew Richard is a makeup artist and Influencer Relations lead for MAKE UP FOR EVER. He is obsessed with helping women look and feel their best. Matthew's personality is you remember is electric, and I know you're going to love him as much as I do. In This Episode Matthew, it's so great to follow up since our first interview! We did summer beauty and tips when we were swimming outdoors, and as we head into fall and the weather gets cooler, it's the perfect time to talk again. Fall is about shedding, letting go, and making room for rebirth and renewal. I love fall. Talk to me about what the season of fall means to you. Let's dive into makeup, because this podcast is meant to be fun and informative for my women. You actually taught me the history of makeup and lipstick a few weeks ago, and things like color theory. It was fascinating! Things like, why are we drawn to a red lip? Tell our listeners some of the origin of makeup. Speaking of lipstick, I know MF has a new lipstick, Rouge Artist. As a RELIGIOUS wearer of Makeup Forever daily for 8 years, I'm obsessed with this new lipstick. Some love matte lipstick, but I love a creamy, non-drying moisturizing lipstick that stays on. I'm loving the colors this fall too. Can you tell me about Rouge Artiste and the new campaign? Fall is here! We talked summer skin, so we need to chat fall skin. How can we care for our skin during the fall - skin is dryer. Do we now need heavier night creams, serums, anything thicker heading into winter? How can we care for our skin during the fall? Really, in a nutshell, how can we ADAPT our skincare routine now? Matthew, what are some fall makeup and beauty trends we are seeing? I read that FLOATING OVER LINER on our eyes is now a trend? You know, like eye liner above the creases of our eyes! I don't think I could do it! I also read that the dewy look is still in, but not as shiny, almost like a tamer dewy look! What will we see in beauty and makeup trends this fall? What are 3-5 makeup or beauty essentials we need for fall. I imagine a darker lipstick, great mascara and a good bronzer? Once we're talking fall, can we talk quickly how to prevent those lines from undereye concealer? You know, as we hit our thirties, the concealer starts to crease in our eyes. YUCK! Please tell us how to apply proper smooth foundation on our face and under our eyes. I'm obsessed with MF Reboot by the way. It looks like I'm wearing nothing, my skin looks great and dewy and hydrated and clear when I wear it. Any tips to apply natural looking foundation and concealer? And more! Dr. Stephanie Diamond: Eating disorders in ourselves and our children, red flag and the road to healing
Episode Summary Welcome back to the Erica Diamond podcast. When I think of today's guest, I think of the tune, "We are family, I got all my sisters with me!" Our guest today is very special and dear to me. She is my sister-in-law, Dr. Stephanie Diamond. I just might be a little biased when I say she's smart, lovely, kind, caring and is a true expert in her field. But I know that after you listen to our interview, you will agree. Welcome my sister-in-law to the show, AKA Dr. Diamond! In This Episode Tell us exactly, what IS eating disorder, can you define it for us Take us back to high school and then college, when did you realize this was the field you wanted to study? You are now in outpatient private practice, and before that, you were the director of the Oliver Pyatt Center for eating disorders. Talk to me about both jobs, very contrasting I imagine, and do you miss being in a center with the patients, or do you enjoy being on your own? I imagine COVID has changed a lot for the patients themselves in how they struggle. Maybe you can touch on that as well. f we are concerned that either we or someone we love might be suffering with an ED, what are some red flags that suggest a possible eating disorder? I have heard of all different categories of new disorders when it comes to eating, like Orthorexia and other terms. Talk to us about these new disorders and when it becomes more than just food. You have helped us identify the signs and red flags, and if we spot those signs, what are the next steps we should follow? Let's talk about ourselves first, and we'll get to our children. And if we see these signs in our children. What should we do next? Genetic component or not? Are eating disorders a result of biochemistry or environment? Let's talk about some warning signs of when to know that someone we love is teetering on an unhealthy relationship with food I know it's a long road and journey, but how can we start to work towards a healthy relationship with food if we're not already there? You have two daughters. What is your vision to help them develop healthy eating habits and a love and passion for food. Because for me, food is love and passion. For me food is not to be feared, it is to be loved. What gets you out of bed in the morning? What are you reading now? When are you at your happiest? What is something loving we can say to ourselves or our children that breeds positivity and compassion in our daily lives. And more! Episode Summary We are living through difficult times-- it is no secret. And experts have said to brace ourselves, because this is our new normal for a while. Between EricaDiamond.com, my weekly segments on Global TV, and social media, I have covered every angle of COVID19: from stress, to work, to family. And because it's summer, and I ALWAYS go lighter in the summer in my lifestyle brand, I decided to introduce a little lightness to our show. I dont know about you, but I am trying to age gracefully, and to fight the wrinkles that are coming on with a welcomed embrace. It ain't easy, believe me. And since we are starting to reintegrate back into social settings, and step out of our homes for perhaps to a backyard dinner date or socially distanced pool party outside, I wanted to have a beauty expert on the show to discuss summer skin, summer beauty, musts for summer, and what the beauty trends are now during our COVID summer. Today I'm thrilled to have Matthew on the show. Matthew Richard is a makeup artist and Influencer Relations lead for MAKE UP FOR EVER. He is obsessed with helping women look and feel their best. Matthew's personality is magnetic, and I know you're going to love him as much as I do. If you like what you hear, have no fear... So many of us are navigating the new normal. Zoom meetings are where it's at! To keep things simple and natural, how can we be zoom meeting ready - or shall we say, work form home ready? Summer is here! Let's talk summer skin. How can we care for our skin during the summer (I like to mix foundation and sunscreen, is this even right)? What are the beauty or makeup trends we are seeing this summer? I assume looks will be more natural, to go with the times we are living in. What are the 5 essentials we need this summer? I know that our skin reflects what goes into into our bodies - that means food, how we sleep, exercise, how much water we drink. How does lifestyle effect our skin, and what are some quick makeup tricks to hide tired skin, or imperfect skin? Give us all the professional makeup tips that transform a tired face into a glowing one! And more! Dr. Sheri Jacobson: Managing Your Mental Health During COVID-19
Episode Summary Welcome to the Erica Diamond podcast. Today's guest is very special and dear to me. Sheri grew up my best friend and then she and her family moved away to London, England when we were just 8. We have stayed in touch all these years, and didn't let oceans get in the way. Today on the show, we're hearing from a true expert on how to manage AND navigate these difficult times we are living through. Today we're going there. Today we're asking the question: HOW ARE WE REALLY DOING DURING COVID-19, AND WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? Sheri also shares about her recent journey with breast cancer. We kicked off the episode by reading something that really spoke to many of Glennon Doyle's fans, and is very apropos to our episode: "I think—somewhere in the middle of last week—I hit a wall. I am sad. I feel lost and aimless in my home most of the day. I am cranky with my people. Even though we're together all day—I'm somehow gone. I'm claustrophobic in this covid world. The news makes me terrified and so full of rage I want to scream. I wander around all day with this nagging feeling that I'm not doing enough writing enough helping enough creating enough parenting enough wifeing enough BEING enough—that I'm wasting my time, my hours, my days, my life. Crawling along. Gonna keep going. Love you madly. "No feeling is final." In This Episode What the climate is like in the UK. Let's start with the self and managing mental health: What are 3 things we can do when we feel overwhelmed or anxious, which is the reality for many around the globe. Let's move onto marriage and relationships. Corona has not exactly been a passion booster for many during corona, all this togetherness! How can couples keep the peace and manage stress? How can we make it work during these times? It's also a lot of together time with our kids. The kids have been home every day since March 12th, and personally, I'm out of meal options and out of family activity ideas. I even find myself getting on my kids nerves. How do we keep the peace with our kids, and how can we help them manage the disappointments from the pivot that THEY have had to make. Let's move onto to work. Can you share some work from home mental health tips. How can we create healthy boundaries around work at home and from the office. Let's talk about the role of screens and the increased screen use in both ourselves and our kids. Can we loosen the rules? I know my kids have become nocturnal since the onset of COVID-19. How normal and healthy is all of this? Sheri, you have been going through your own journey during COVID. You were diagnosed with breast cancer recently. How are you feeling? What has cancer taught you about yourself? What are you reading now? Answer these quick question: I'm happiest when... I'm most uncomfortable when... Favorite movie... Favorite meal... Top item on my bucket list... Catherine Verdon-Diamond: On Fighting Racism Together, Why #BlackLivesMatter and Raising Kids To Be Inclusive
Episode Summary Welcome back to the second season of the Erica Diamond Podcast! In case you've noticed, I took little hiatus from recording new episodes of our show. Truth is, COVID-19 put me into such an introspective mode. I have been digging deep for my family, and for myself. COVID sprung me into my life's work as a wellness advocate as a life coach and yoga teacher, and I have been busy with that. But after the killing of unarmed George Floyd, I felt totally outraged, completely horrified. I realized I have a platform, and a voice to hopefully make a difference. To do my small part. What is happening in our country and in my neighbors to the south, takes my breath away. Today is about having an honest and candid conversation between two women, a black woman and a white woman, two friends, two moms with two boys, two women in the Quebec public eye, two women who long for an inclusive society where we are all treated equally regardless of your race, or religion, or ethnicity, or sexual orientation, or gender. The conversation starts with you, and it starts with me. So let's start it... In This Episode Catherine talks about life growing up as an adopted girl. If she ever felt racism growing up. How Catherine has been doing this week. As a white ally, Erica's heart has been both hurting, and at the same time, feeling so much love directed towards the black community. Erica asks Catherine if she feels the love? What can we as a white community do to support our black community friends -- it's more than going black on a Tuesday, we know that. Catherine talks about racism in Canada vs. the US, and if she feels that racism differs here? Is it more subtle? Canadians don't have the same narrative as Americans. Catherine has two wonderful boys. Do she worry about them as young black men? And how does she arm them for life - for example, what to do if they're wrongfully stopped by a police officer. How do you protect them? What has it been like to be a black bilingual woman in media in Quebec. Catherine explains peaceful protesting to Erica vs. riots and vs. looters. What in Catherine's opinion it's gong to take to make real lasting change, and what that looks like. Catherine's required / recommended reading for kids Catherine answers these questions: What makes me sad right now What makes me hopeful right now What's one thing someone listening can do now to make a difference And more About Catherine Verdon-Diamond Catherine Verdon-Diamond is a Television Personality, MC, Public Speaker, and current weather reporter for CBC Montreal News. However, if you're not, and if you come to realize that women's pleasure and sexuality are a part of everyday life, I think it's definitely worth tuning in. How we can raise resilient children who are able to handle failure and can come back and thrive. Dr. G speaks to the difficult line of knowing when to help them or rescue our kids, and when to hang them out to dry. When we do help, and when do we back off? How to raise independent kids. Dr. G often talks about teaching responsibility and good work ethic. Does that come into play here when raising independent kids? Dr. G's book is, 'Get the behavior you want without being the parent you hate!' Erica Diamond tells Dr. G she sometimes hates the sound of my her own voice to her kids. How do we get that good behavior the first time around? Kids are stressed out today. And frankly so are parents. How can we coach our kids (and ourselves) to help bring down the fire? How we can talk to our kids about issues like sex, their sexuality, porn, drinking, vaping, alcohol. It's a lot, no doubt. Dr. G breaks it down. Things we can do to help boost our children's self esteem? On social media rules, boundaries and parameters. Erica asks Dr. G, "Should we have passwords to their social accounts and at what age, when do we leave them to manage social media on their own and do we spot check?" Erica is big believer in teaching your kids the rules, guiding them, supporting them, and then letting them loose, to go and mess up, with natural consequences as teachable moments as they go. And more! About Dr. G Respected parenting and youth development expert, Deborah Gilboa, MD, is the founder of AskDoctorG.com.
