Known by many, of course, as Andy Sugden on ITV’s Emmerdale, a role he played for two decades - with subsequent success leading to him becoming winner of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019. When Kevin and his wife Liz Fletcher’s Hollywood acting dream fail apart before it even started because of the Pandemic, it opened up doors closer to home… and home became a farm. In recent years, he has embraced this very different way of life, swapping acting and drama for the rhythms of the countryside as a farmer in the Peak District - where he lives with his wife and four children and an ever growing list of animals! This journey from actor to farmer has captured the imagination of many, and through his family’s farming adventures over the last 4 years with TV show ‘Fletchers Family Farm’, has developed an even deeper connection to rural life and its communities - especially his beloved sheep! Clodagh McKenna, this is your Rural Life! Welcome to Series 1, Episode 8 of The Farmette Podcast. Tattie Isles… this is your Rural Life! Welcome to Series 1, Episode 7 of The Farmette Podcast. Today we are joined by the creative force that is Tattie Isles, founder and creative director of London and Dorset based Tattie Rose Studio, a service which provides flowers, design and sets for creative projects and occasions across the world. They are internationally renowned for providing flowers that tell stories, which move people and that are remembered. Growing up on the wilder side of life, surrounded by animals, Tattie is at her most happiest surrounded by nature. As part of her commitment to sustainability, she sources ingredients from local growers and foragers whenever possible in her role at the studio where she transforms spaces from ordinary to extraordinary with flowers, greenery, trees, structure and light, creating impact through scale, while focusing on the small details that make every design unique. She is continuously commended for discretion, warmth, originality and true personal service, always pushing creative boundaries, while remembering to be kind to the land that inspires it all. Tatti and Tamara met via the Chelsea Flower Show in 2025. Tamara’s cousin tragically lost his life in the New Orleans' terror attack last new year - and last year at the show, Tattie and the Atlantic Salmon Trust joined together to create the bull ring gates - which was in memory of Tamara’s amazing cousin who was a huge advocate for saving wild salmon. Today we are joined by Marco Vaghetti, who was born and bred in Lancashire - and now the owner of Lanx shoes, a proudly British footwear brand, known for timeless style, quality craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the landscapes that inspire it. For Marco, his journey begun when he received a private letter, which led him on a six-month journey, learning everything he could about shoe making, whilst travelling the world in the process. His shoes have since been worn by numerous sporting heroes, allowing them to develop partnerships with the likes of England Rugby League and Wales Rugby Union. It is a company that prides itself on being approachable and now consists of sixty staff members. Marco talks openly about why he loves the Lancashire lifestyle so much - having spent many happy years in the countryside as a child with his family - and why he runs the business in a local village rather than a big city. Away from work, he is fascinated by sumo wrestling and his big dream in life is to become a footballer after his idol Andrea Pirlo (given his own Italian roots) - but for now he is busy enough running a successful shoe brand!
