The Farmette Podcast: Goodbye for now. And just like that, we have come to the end of this series of The Farmette Podcast. What a series it has been. I am so grateful to all of my superb, inspiring guests, who have shared their time, stories, knowledge and passion so generously. I truly could not have loved talking with you more each week, and I hope that you, our listeners have enjoyed those conversations as much as I have. For now, it is goodbye from me — but hopefully not for too long. I am hoping to be back in the autumn with Series 2, for more conversations, more stories from the countryside, and more reasons to celebrate the people and places that make rural life so special. Until then, have a wonderful summer. And if you have never been to the British countryside, please make sure you go. Harry, Meade, this is your Rural Life! Welcome to Series 1, Episode 13 of The Farmette Podcast. Today we are joined by champion eventing rider, Harry Meade - and Tamara's friend. He is one of Britain’s most accomplished and respected event riders and a friend of Tamara's. In 2025, he achieved an unprecedented six clear, inside-the-time rounds at Burghley, Kentucky and Badminton consecutively and was crowned FEI World Number One following the string of top-level results of which he still holds today. He is based at Church Farm in South Gloucestershire, where he grew up and has competed at 5* level, (which is the pinocle of the sport) for over twenty years. He is renowned for his quiet, sympathetic riding style with an exceptional ability to produce horses from young prospects through to the highest level of the sport, continuously. He became a silver medallist for Great Britain at the 2014 World Championships, and has completed Badminton and Burghley thirty-two times, remaining the youngest rider to ever receive the Armada Dish for five Badminton completions. Alongside his competitive career, he is a BBC eventing commentator, writer for leading equestrian publications, and a long-standing member of the World Class Squad. Despite the prestige of being world number 1, His ultimate ambition is to win Badminton, Burghley and Olympic gold. Welcome to Series 1, Episode 12 of The Farmette Podcast. Today we are joined by the champion Game Shooter, Dave Carrie! To get to where Dave is today, it’s been a long journey for him. He grew up in extreme poverty in a polluted South Yorkshire pit village, where hunger shaped much of his childhood. Dave also lost a glass eye in an accident whilst playing with his friends. These brutal experiences, however, have defined the man he is today because through necessity he gained a deep practical knowledge of wildlife and the countryside - become a crucial source of food and play for Dave at an early age. Later in life, he sees the harsh years as the making of him and as the foundation of country values of which he later passed on down to his own children. These led him into shooting sports, where he rose to the highest level of the sport representing both England and Great Britain winning Gold as part of the senior FITASC team and later individual world gold in the veterans world FITASC championship His YouTube channel which is focused on British field sports, especially clay and game shooting with coaching clips, high bird shooting and equipment testing videos has thousands of subscribers and millions of views. They are internationally renowned for providing flowers that tell stories, which move people and that are remembered. Growing up on the wilder side of life, surrounded by animals, Tattie is at her most happiest surrounded by nature. As part of her commitment to sustainability, she sources ingredients from local growers and foragers whenever possible in her role at the studio where she transforms spaces from ordinary to extraordinary with flowers, greenery, trees, structure and light, creating impact through scale, while focusing on the small details that make every design unique. She is continuously commended for discretion, warmth, originality and true personal service, always pushing creative boundaries, while remembering to be kind to the land that inspires it all. Tatti and Tamara met via the Chelsea Flower Show in 2025. Tamara’s cousin tragically lost his life in the New Orleans' terror attack last new year - and last year at the show, Tattie and the Atlantic Salmon Trust joined together to create the bull ring gates - which was in memory of Tamara’s amazing cousin who was a huge advocate for saving wild salmon. It is a company that prides itself on being approachable and now consists of sixty staff members.
