7. The Mindset Work That Actually Gets You Started
Getting started as a coach isn't really a skills problem. It's a mindset problem — and nobody talks about what to actually do about that. This episode is pulled from the daily mindset broadcasts I shared inside Coach Curious Prep School, and it covers the three things I think every aspiring coach needs to hear before they take the leap. First, why nerves are not a signal that something is wrong — they're just the cost of admission to a life that looks different than the one you have now. Then, why the identity shift into becoming a coach starts in your brain before any certification makes it official, and how confirmation bias is either working for you or against you depending on where you're pointing your attention. And finally, why confidence isn't something you wait for — it's something you build on purpose, and it's the single biggest predictor of whether you'll actually succeed once you're out there. If you've been telling yourself you'll move forward when you feel ready, this episode is going to challenge that — and give you something more useful to work with instead. 6. Highlights from Coach-Curious Prep School: The Traits That Make Someone a Great Coach
Most people who are drawn to coaching spend too long asking the wrong question. It's not whether you're good enough yet. It's whether you have the traits that make coaching a natural fit — and most people who are seriously asking already do.This episode is pulled from highlights of my live Coach Curious Prep School, where I walk a room full of aspiring coaches through the core traits that actually predict whether someone will thrive in this work: interpersonal curiosity, a genuine passion for thought work, and a drive toward purpose and meaning. For each one, I break down what it really looks like in practice, why it matters in the room with a client, and how to honestly evaluate where you stand. Spoiler: none of them are about being perfect, having all the answers, or having your whole life figured out.If you've been circling the idea of coaching and wondering whether it's really for you, this episode will help you see yourself more clearly — and take your own potential more seriously than your brain has been letting you.Sign up for the free masterclass, Are You Meant to Be a Coach? here: http://socraticcoaching.com/masterclassGet full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://socraticcoaching.com/6Follow along on Instagram: instagram.com/karaloewentheil/Mentioned in this episode:FREE GUIDE: The Top Three Things I Wish I Had Known Before Becoming A CoachThere are three absolutely crucial concepts that have contributed to my success today as a coach that I wish I had known when I started, and I'm sharing them with you in this free guide. 5. How to Evaluate a Coaching Certification
Do you actually need a coaching certification? Technically, no. Life coaching is unregulated, and nobody can stop you from hanging a shingle. But I really don't recommend skipping it, and in this episode I break down exactly why, and how to find the right one. There are three categories of certification programs: university-based, ICF-accredited, and independent. Each has tradeoffs, and I walk you through what each is actually good for. Then I give you the five questions I think every aspiring coach should ask before enrolling anywhere. Spoiler: a grab bag of tools is not a method, and most programs won't address what's happening in your head as the coach. That gap matters more than people realize.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://socraticcoaching.com/5Follow along on Instagram: instagram.com/karaloewentheil/Mentioned in this episode:FREE GUIDE: The Top Three Things I Wish I Had Known Before Becoming A CoachThere are three absolutely crucial concepts that have contributed to my success today as a coach that I wish I had known when I started, and I'm sharing them with you in this free guide. 4. Why Coaching Will Thrive in the Age of AI
The headlines have it backwards. Coaching isn't going to be replaced by AI. It's going to become more valuable because of it.I'm making the case, with five specific reasons, for why this moment is actually one of the best times to become a coach. You'll also hear where AI genuinely helps coaches who are building a practice and, just as importantly, where letting it take the wheel will quietly undermine everything that makes you worth hiring. If you've been watching the AI news and questioning your next move, this episode is for you.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://socraticcoaching.com/4Follow along on Instagram: instagram.com/karaloewentheil/Mentioned in this episode:FREE GUIDE: The Top Three Things I Wish I Had Known Before Becoming A CoachThere are three absolutely crucial concepts that have contributed to my success today as a coach that I wish I had known when I started, and I'm sharing them with you in this free guide. 3. 3 Ways to Use Coaching in Other Jobs
If you've ever thought "a coaching certification isn't really for someone like me," you might be wrong about that. The most valuable thing it could ever do for you might happen in a meeting, a performance review, or a conversation with your teenager.I'm walking through what actually changes when you understand how the brain works: why the problems most professionals keep trying to solve are the wrong problems entirely, and what becomes possible when you finally get to the real one. You'll hear examples from HR, personal training, project management, and leadership, plus what this skill set does to your personal life whether you're planning on it or not.If you've ever felt like you're having the same conversation on a loop and nothing is changing, this episode explains exactly why.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://socraticcoaching.com/3Follow along on Instagram: instagram.com/karaloewentheil/Mentioned in this episode:FREE GUIDE: The Top Three Things I Wish I Had Known Before Becoming A CoachThere are three absolutely crucial concepts that have contributed to my success today as a coach that I wish I had known when I started, and I'm sharing them with you in this free guide. 2. What Being a Life Coach Actually Requires (And What It Doesn't)
The bar for becoming a coach is different than you think, and so is what actually makes someone good at it. You don't need a psychology degree, a perfect life, or shared experience with every client you'll ever have.I'm breaking down the real objections that stop people from getting started, why most of them are rooted in how women are socialized to see themselves, and what three qualities actually predict whether someone will be great at this work. None of them are what most people expect. If you've been wondering whether you're cut out for this, this episode answers that question directly.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://socraticcoaching.com/2Follow along on Instagram: instagram.com/karaloewentheil/Mentioned in this episode:FREE GUIDE: The Top Three Things I Wish I Had Known Before Becoming A CoachThere are three absolutely crucial concepts that have contributed to my success today as a coach that I wish I had known when I started, and I'm sharing them with you in this free guide. 1. What Life Coaching Is and Isn't
Most people who could be extraordinary coaches never get started because they believe something about coaching that simply isn't true.I'm tackling the three biggest coaching misconceptions head-on: you’ll learn what coaching actually is, why it's nothing like therapy, and why the "wellness grifting" criticism says more about sexism than it does about the profession. You'll also hear what real coaching looks like in practice and why cognitive psychology, somatics, and intersectionality all have a place in a great session. If you've been curious about coaching or you're already in it and want to get clear on what the work really is, this is your foundation.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://socraticcoaching.com/1Follow along on Instagram: instagram.com/karaloewentheil/Mentioned in this episode:FREE GUIDE: The Top Three Things I Wish I Had Known Before Becoming A CoachThere are three absolutely crucial concepts that have contributed to my success today as a coach that I wish I had known when I started, and I'm sharing them with you in this free guide.
