From Cleveland to Pittsburgh? Can you change what you love? (Episode 32)
Welcome to the Gary Underwood show… Our host has changed his football team allegiance from the Cleveland Browns to the Pittsburgh Steelers… He has taken some heat online for making his decision, but is actually a test to see if a human being can change what they love by making a decision that makes sense to them. In other words, Deep down it’s probable that he still loves the Cleveland Browns, but he understands intellectually that this is a terrible allegiance and that the Browns have been heartbreaking for their fans for more than 40 years. We answer this question… Is it possible to change what you love and then have the affections follow afterwards? I know this is just about a football team and you were just listening to The Gary Underwood Show… But I wonder if the supplies too more important things in life.

Going Viral? Hop on a Call? Strange Sayings! (Episode 31)
What’s up everybody? Welcome to the Gary Underwood show where we talk about phrases that don’t seem to make sense and we don’t know where they came from. Today’s episode. Gary asked the question about jumping in the shower, hopping on a call or throwing somebody under the bus. Some of these seem downright silly or even violent. at the same time, they have become common place phrases that people use without even thinking twice. If nothing else, I wonder how we got here and the English language is pretty funny.

Feeling Guilty and Missed Opportunities (Episode 26)
Is there something you’ve been meaning to do to help somebody out but you keep putting it off? I have to confess that’s how I felt about going to duck donuts today. I’ve been thinking about doing this Neiss thing for almost 9 months now, and I finally am doing it on this episode. So sometimes the lesson is you need to start a podcast that reminds you to do the stuff you need to do. No seriously the Gary Underwood show encourages you to not put stuff off Anymore, and be an uplifting positive person that adds value and happiness to the day of others. You don’t have to be donuts to be a blessing!

On the NBA, Bronny James, and Lakers Make History (Episode 30)
I don’t know if you are an NBA fan, but last night was very historic in the context of professional basketball. LeBron James and his son Bronny James took the court last night in the opener for the Los Angeles Lakers, becoming the first father and son combination to do so in basketball history. Even if you don’t like pro sports, it’s pretty cool to see what two generations of one family from a very difficult background, have done to impact not professional basketball or their community, but also the world! Shout out to LeBron and Savannah, James and thank you for all you do for the good of others.

Duck Donuts and Weird Company Names (Episode 23)
Hey guys, thank you for listening to The Gary Underwood Show! Today Gary gives a few thoughts about company names that seem very ironic or at the very least do not make sense! As he was driving to the city of Fairlawn, Gary was interested in picking up some “Duck Donuts.” I guess this could refer to your response when someone throws a doughnut at you and you duck… Or when you eat donuts and you’re hanging out with ducks… I’m not really sure, but it does make this a very memorable place to buy pastries. And by the way, they taste amazing.

H3 Leaders: Humble, Hungry, Hustle (Episode 22)
Welcome to The Gary Underwood Show… Today’s episode finds us talking about a leadership book that is influenced my life without even having to read it yet! Brad Laminex’s book humble, hungry hustle or 3H leadership is at least a great framework for talking about how good leaders are humble they’re hungry to improve, and they hustle and give their best effort at all times! I would love to hear any of your thoughts on these matters, but the best leaders are those who humbly serve hunger to improve and hustle as hard as they can.we don’t usually do book reviews, but this one has impacted my life already and I thought I would share with you. Thank you so much for listening to The Gary Underwood Show!

Sports, Episode Shorts, and You Matter (Episode 16)
What’s up everyone! Thank you so much for listening to The Gary Underwood Show. This is my third attempt at recording tonight‘s episode, which was going to be about the Ohio State buckeyes or the Cleveland guardians. I decided not to talk about sports and instead to talk about the quality of episodes that matter to you. What Your Friends See in You and Coffee with Jason (Episode 14)
Welcome to the Gary Underwood show! Sometimes on this podcast, Gary brings up important thoughts or things he’s heard throughout the day. Today’s reflection comes from a meeting at a coffee shop with longtime friend Jason – who is last name will remain anonymous at this point – where they talk about Gary’s propensity to talk a lot. Ironically, Jason did not know that I had already started this podcast and was making a commitment to talking even more, lol!So here’s the deal – one of the things about great friendships is that your friends will reflect back honestly and carefully what they see in you… They can point out the good things in you… They can point out your abilities perhaps the right friend can even point out your flaws and you still feel cared for and you want to stay friends with them. Friendships can handle the truth, and I’m glad Jason just said some things the other day that affirmed a bit about who I am and what I am processing with this podcast.

Nate Bargatze on SNL last weekend - Favorite Stand-Up Comedian Crushes it! (Episode 13)
One of my favorite stand-up comedians is Nate Bargatze! Last weekend, he hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time – and it was incredible! I love his sense of humor, his dry deliveries, his daily observations about crazy things in life, and his creativity. I won’t always talk about comedians on this podcast, but when I do, you can guarantee that Nate Bargatze‘s name will come up. Today’s episode. I also talk about Whatnot, things of that sort, and random stuff and every day life. I wore a pink shirt the other day.

We love Chipotle, but if you want peppers and onions, you’ll have to work for them. Gary shares some of this best and worst moments at this incredible Mexican Restaurant and wonders why they hide the flavor and try not to give you the fajita veggies. It only matters if you’re paying for great food.

How to Start a Podcast in 2024? (Episode 8)
Today, if you can believe it, Gary Underwood launched another podcast! So in this version of The Gary Underwood Show, we talk about how to start a podcast, and why to start a podcast. Some of you are here because we don’t really know why. Some of you were here because you like to listen to Gary talk for less than five minutes! But some of you found us because you’re searching for Waze and resources to get started when it comes to launching your very own podcast. We think you should do it! The best way to learn about it is to do it! The worst way to not learn about it is to not do it! You need the reps you need to try it. You need to download a free app that helps you as a platform and as a content creator. But you don’t have to have it all figured out before you start!just get things started and learn as you go. That’s what I’m talking about! I’m also trying to type through AI all of the things that I’m saying out loud right now, and I know the punctuation is wonky.

The Point of this Podcast is… (Episode 5)
In the real world, most podcasts have an actual theme or a point or a topic. The Gary Underwood show is bound to be slightly different from the norm. We’d like to go rogue as they say. We’d like to blaze our own trail like they do in Portland. And today’s micro episode Gary brings us some thoughts about the actual point of this podcast. What if it’s just about having fun and sharing random thoughts throughout the week? What if it’s Gary’s chance to be an encouragement to you and make you feel like we are friends in real life? What if it’s simply to experiment with short form, podcasting and post a bunch of episodes every week that people can binge and enjoy random Lee throughout the day?No matter what, we think it’s pretty impressive that we use the word micro episode! You are welcome. And we’re so glad you were listening. If you like this podcast, please subscribe and share it with your friends and say I don’t really get this podcast, but I can’t stop listening to it. We know exactly how you feel.

What are you Listening to? (Episode 4)
Welcome back to the Gary Underwood show! Today Gary gives you a few thoughts about how the music we listen to can impact the mood and attitude we have throughout the day. You would be surprised how depressing a guy can feel after listening to Bon Jovi for more than two minutes. We could probably say the same about Matchbox Twenty. Definitely want to include Natalie Imbruglia in any list of sad song lyrics. But for today, Gary shows up to put the Bright back in Bright side to tell you that it’s OK to see the good in life… And you will recognize it better if you are feeding your mind with words Songs and ideas that build yourself up.No one else can do self-care or self-esteem for you! You must guard the gate and be careful what you let into your ears and into your heart. OK, this episode will also be fun and make you laugh, we think. Again, as always, we thank you for listening and we are pretty awesome.

Choose to Appreciate! (Episode 3)
The world has its fair share of critics. Negativity and competition and ripping on each other are running rampant in today’s society. What if we told you there’s a better option? What if the Gary Underwood show is here to challenge societal norms and say it’s OK to be positive. It’s OK to recognize the good in each day. It’s OK to choose to be an appreciator instead of being a depreciator. To all of our listeners, we appreciate the fact that you even logged on and listen to our podcast. Some of you went the extra mile and continue to read these notes describing today’s episode. It would be hard enough to attempt to even express the amount of gratitude and the support we feel by those who are continuing to read the words that I am dictating into this microphone. As John Parr once said, “my time is now and I’m coming alive!”

How to Save Money on all kinds of Gear (Episode 2)
Welcome to five minutes of sheer joy. The Gary Underwood show brings you daily doses of encouragement, fun and lighthearted commentary on every day life today. Gary‘s episode will focus on how to save money, how not to spend too much money, and how to find bargains that will reduce your expenses. The previous sentence was redundant, repetitive, and served more than one purpose while making the same point.Thank you so much for listening to this new podcast as we work out all of the kinks. Our listeners are important to us, so please feel free to let us know where you were listening and subscribe to our show wherever you listen to podcasts. Today’s episode gives a special shout out to thrift store deals that Gary has found in the last couple of weeks. Every trip to the thrift store is truly an adventure, and we have only the people of Northeast Ohio to thank. I’m sure there are other amazing thrift stores out there in other corners of the world, but we appreciate our little corner here in Hartville!

Start Something and Spill Nachos (Episode 1)
The Pilot episode of the Gary Underwood Show. I got tired of waiting around and practicing these audio messages in my car or sending text to friends. It was time to join the rest of the podcast world in these daily ramblings. I hope you enjoy them, perhaps you can tell I do!Today’s episode is about finally getting some things started. You’ve had an idea, you’ve had possibilities, you’ve had conversations… But the reality is that you’ve put things off for too long. It’s time to get some things started. I take you on a behind-the-scenes look at my recent trip to Taco Bell, and tell you that sometimes you’re going to spill some nachos. I don’t mind spilling nachos… As long as I get to taste the incredible meat, cheese, sour cream, mild sauce, and perhaps even some lettuce. I love Mexican food. I also love stream of consciousness posts in these little descriptions of a podcast. You might think I need to get a life… I am telling you you need to start something. Perhaps you don’t need to start a podcast, but you know what you need to do.This is hopefully the first of a lot of episodes where I just get on the microphone and share what’s going on. Perhaps it will relate to your life perhaps it will not. But I promise you it will not be boring.
