The disciples are faced with an impossible task - feeding 5000 people. When a boy approaches Jesus with only 5 fish and 2 loaves of bread, we see how God can use even the smallest of offerings to do something great for his glory.

Humanity is hungry – that’s the God-intuition that draws the crowd to Jesus. The church carries the fragrance of Christ, but we aren’t the Bread of Life. We point people to Jesus like a pantry or a fridge, because only Jesus can truly satisfy. God invites us into His transformative work by recognising we can’t but He can, when we generously place the little we have in His hands.

Christians are called to live as children of light but can be tempted by darkness and to play in the shadows.

Hebrews reminds us that Jesus has opened the way and secured our place with God, but spiritual growth happens when we step into that access — drawing near, holding fast to hope, and walking together in encouragement. Growth happens when God’s grace meets obedience.

Christians choose to clothe in Christ or return to worldly living. Passage is a reminder to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus.

For many people coming “home” for Christmas is special.  An opportunity to reconnect with family and loved ones.  For others it’s not so special and often resurfaces past trauma and difficulties in relationships.  Jesus came at Christmas for one purpose… to give us a permanent heavenly home that will be more than special for anyone.
