Be Strong | Jon Bell
We live in a world that screams at us to chase status, success, and "stuff"—but none of it stands the test of time. In this message, we look at the final moments of King David’s life.As he prepares to take his final breath, he doesn't give Solomon a list of political strategies; he gives him a charge for his soul. What are you passing on to the next generation? Is it something temporary, or something eternal?"Strength isn't about control; it's about surrender, discipline, and the commitment to live according to God's calling."If this message challenged you to rethink what you’re building your life on, please Like this video and Subscribe to our channel for more teaching through the Life of David.Scripture References:1 Kings 2:1-4Ecclesiastes 12Psalm 19:7-10Psalm 119:112Proverbs 3:5-6Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchHome Instagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

The One Question That Controls Your Life | Max Spoelstra
Are you trusting in your "chariots and horses," or in the Name of the Lord?In this message, we dive into the final days of King David to look at a moment of profound failure: the census of Israel. Why was God so moved by David counting his men? Because whatever we look to for our security eventually becomes our authority.Drawing from Mike Foster's Seven Primal Questions, we explore the core question: "Am I Secure?" When we feel unstable, we often "scramble" to restore control, just as David did by counting his fighting men instead of trusting the Great I AM.In this video, you will discover:- How to identify your "Primal Question" and how it drives your behavior.- The difference between what God asks us to count and what we try to take into our own hands.- Why tithing is more than a financial habit—it is the "Sacrament of Supremacy" that keeps God first.- The inspiring example of the Macedonian church: How joy and generosity can thrive even in trials.- It’s time to stop counting what’s in your hands and start trusting the One who holds it all.Scripture References:2 Samuel 24:1-41 Chronicles 21:1Psalm 20:72 Corinthians 8:1-5Malachi 3:8-10Connect with us:Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

When The "One Thing" Becomes Everything | Jake Heitman
Are you so focused on what you’ve lost that you can’t see what you have left? In this message, "Fatal Fixations," we dive into the tragic final days of King David to see how a "tunnel-visioned" focus on one heartbreak can dismantle an entire life.We often talk about the wounds parents leave on children, but we rarely discuss the way a wayward child can wound a parent. David was swallowed up by his grief for Absalom—the son who tried to kill him—to the point that he humiliated the loyal army that saved his life. Through the lens of 2 Samuel 19, we explore:The "Rhino" Effect: How we paint our problems into every picture of our lives. The 99 vs. The 1: Why leaving the 99 for the 1 is a beautiful Shepherd’s heart, but a dangerous leadership mindset.Sinkers vs. Bobbers: Do you snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory? The Joab Moment: Why we all need "truth-tellers" to give us a perspective check before we lose everything.[Scripture References]2 Samuel 19:1-8Numbers 13:30-33 (The Report of the Spies)Habakkuk 3:17-191 Samuel 30:6"It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other." (Ecclesiastes 7:18). Life is a tension between grief and gratitude. If you don’t learn to manage that tension, your sadness will eventually cloud your sanity. "I'll Believe It When I See It" | Max Spoelstra
Some truths can’t be explained—they have to be experienced. We often think of Easter as a religious event or an explanation of ancient facts. But for a Roman Centurion standing at the foot of the cross, Easter wasn’t a holiday - it was a 6-hour encounter that shattered his armor and changed his allegiance forever. In this message, we look at the life of Levi Curler - a veteran, a police officer, and a "man's man" - and compare his journey of surrender to the "guarded guard" who witnessed the death of Jesus. How does a man trained in detachment, disassociation, and the "business of death" suddenly cry out, "Surely this was the Son of God"?In this message, you will discover:Why Jesus’ final words were specifically designed to pierce a hardened heart. The difference between being "religiously hardened" and "personally transformed."How to move from a "Tinman" existence (hard shell, dead heart) to a life of purpose.A powerful closing testimony from Levi Curler on choosing love over anger.Whether you are a wanderer looking for the light or someone who has felt numb to the "same old story," this Easter experience is for you.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchHome Instagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

How Jesus Took YOUR Place! | Jon Bell
What if the most "lopsided trade" in history wasn't a sports deal or a land grab, but a courtroom exchange 2,000 years ago? We often look at the story of Barabbas as a historical footnote, but the truth is much more personal: We are Barabbas. In this message, we kick off our Easter series by looking at the "Great Exchange." We explore the notorious figure of Barabbas—a rebel, a thief, and a murderer—who walked free while the innocent Son of God took his place on the cross.Whether you are carrying a "scarlet letter" of shame, struggling with a rebellious heart, or feeling defined by your past mistakes, this sermon is a reminder that grace isn't a fair trade—it’s a gift. God treated Jesus like Barabbas so that He could treat you like Jesus.[Scripture References]Mark 15:1-151 Peter 2:22Philippians 2:6-82 Corinthians 5:21If this message encouraged you, please Like the video and Subscribe to our channel to follow along with our Easter series. Are you ready to make the "Great Exchange" today? Breaking The Generational Cycle Of Sin | Jake Heitman
Is it possible to win at work but lose at home?We often look at King David as the ultimate hero—the giant-slayer, the worshiper, and the great King of Israel. But in this message, we look "behind closed doors" at a side of David we rarely talk about: David the Dad.Through the tragic story of Amnon and Tamar in 2 Samuel 13, we discover a sobering truth: our public reputation means very little if our private lives are in "freefall." We explore the "invisible software" of the home—the habits and environments we create that inevitably shape the next generation. Whether you feel like your family is "messed up" or you’re struggling to bridge the gap between your public persona and your private reality, this message is a call to turn our hearts back toward home.In this sermon, we discuss:- The disparity between public success and invisible failure.- The "Like Father, Like Son" parallel between David’s sin and Amnon’s choices.- How to break the cycle of "Do as I say, not as I do."- Practical steps to becoming an intentional parent/spouse.- The power of turning our hearts toward our children (Malachi 4:6).Key Scripture Passages:2 Samuel 13 (Amnon and Tamar)Psalm 51:4 (David’s Repentance)Malachi 4:6 (The Hearts of Fathers)2 Timothy 1:5 (Generational Faith)Reflection Question:"Whatever lives in me will live in them also. When God Holds Up A Mirror | Max Spoelstra
The thing we try hardest to hide is the very thing God wants to use to set us free.In Week 10 of our "Rise and Fall" series, we look at one of the most dramatic confrontations in the Bible: the prophet Nathan confronting King David. We often think of conviction as a heavy, negative weight, but what if it’s actually the starting point for true joy?In this message, we explore:Mirror vs. Window: Why it’s so easy to judge others while remaining blind to our own "sheep-stealing" behavior. The Danger of Blind Spots: How 800,000 car accidents a year mirror the spiritual wrecks in our own lives. The "You Are The Man" Moment: How God’s love doesn’t excuse our sin—it rescues us from it.The 7 Steps of Repentance: A practical walkthrough of Psalm 51 to help move from guilt to restoration.Whether you feel "grumpy," disconnected, or stuck in a cycle of justifying your mistakes, this message is a reminder that a broken and contrite heart is the only sacrifice God will not despise.Scripture References:2 Samuel 11-12Psalm 139:23-24Psalm 51Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockford Instagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome#Faith #Repentance #KingDavid #BibleStudy #ChristianLiving #Conviction

The Choice That Changes Everything | Jason Holdridge
This powerful exploration of 2 Samuel 11 confronts us with one of Scripture's most sobering warnings about the danger of success and complacency. We journey through David's catastrophic fall from grace, witnessing how a man described as having an IQ of 135-145, a brilliant warrior, poet, and king who represented Christ's kindness in chapter 9, becomes unrecognizable in chapter 11. The message reveals a haunting truth: success can be far more dangerous than failure because it tempts us to shift from 'God will make me great' to 'look at all the greatness I have accomplished.' We see David's moral collapse unfold through what's called the 'lust verb progression'—walked around, saw, sent—each step taking him further from God's calling. The contrast between David on the rooftop and Uriah on the mat becomes a mirror for our own lives. Uriah, the faithful warrior, demonstrates more integrity drunk than David had sober, refusing to enjoy comfort while his brothers suffered in battle. This narrative challenges us to examine our own 'I will nots'—those boundary lines we establish to protect our souls from compromise. The devastating truth emerges that all it takes to drift spiritually is nothing—doing nothing in our marriages, parenting, or walk with God creates the conditions for moral collapse. We're reminded that sexual sin uniquely damages the soul, which is why Scripture commands us to flee rather than fight it. This isn't just ancient history; it's a contemporary warning about power, lust, objectification, and the dehumanizing impact of sin that reduces people from beloved image-bearers to objects for our consumption.

Hard-Fought Forgiveness | Ryan Kresge
This powerful message takes us into the heart of what it means to truly forgive, using David's stunning act of kindness toward Mephibosheth as our guide. In 2 Samuel 9, we witness something revolutionary: instead of eliminating potential rivals from Saul's household as any ancient king would do, David asks, 'Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness?'This wasn't just forgiveness—it was actively seeking opportunities to bless those who had every reason to be his enemies. The message challenges us to move beyond surface-level forgiveness into what's called the 'forgive, forgive, bless, bless' model: forgiving the person, asking God to forgive our own sinful responses to their hurt, asking God to bless them, and finally being willing to bless them ourselves. This atypical response mirrors the forgiveness lineage we see from Jesus to Stephen to Paul to Timothy—each one releasing their spirit to God while refusing to hold offenses against their persecutors. We're confronted with the reality that unforgiveness acts like a damaged nerve ending, constantly reminding us of its presence, stealing our peace and joy.The freedom we desperately seek comes not from coping mechanisms or avoidance, but from tearing up the IOUs we've collected in our hearts and releasing people from what they owe us.When we hold grudges, we think we're maintaining control, but we're actually being controlled. The radical invitation is to pre-decide to pre-forgive, to wake up each morning asking who we can show God's kindness to, even among those who've hurt us most.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Understanding Worship On A Deeper Level | Max Spoelstra
This message from Max Spelstra invites us into a transformative understanding of worship that extends far beyond singing songs or attending services. At its heart is David's response in 2 Samuel 7 when God redirects his plans to build a temple.Instead of demanding explanations or pushing forward with his own agenda, David simply sits before the Lord. This profound act of sitting, of tarrying in God's presence without rushing or striving, reveals the first essential element of true worship: intimacy over activity. We're challenged to examine whether our relationship with God is characterized by hurried transactions or by comfortable communion. The message draws a striking parallel to Mary and Martha, reminding us that while many things compete for our attention, only one thing is truly needed. When we learn to remain in God's presence throughout our ordinary moments, our corporate worship becomes an overflow rather than a starting point. This isn't about achieving perfect spiritual discipline but about gentle attentiveness to our hearts and affections toward God.The way of worship begins not in our ability to perform but in our willingness to simply be with Him, recognizing that He desires our presence more than our productivity.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockford Instagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Building A Lasting Marriage! | Jon Bell
“How do you affair-proof your marriage?”It’s a question we all want a simple formula for, but the reality is much more sobering. An affair is rarely a sudden impulse; it is usually the final chapter of years of quiet neglect. Marriages don’t collapse overnight—they erode when wounds are ignored, needs are unmet, and hearts are left unattended. In today’s message, “Growing Tensions in Marriage,” we look at the "Rise and Fall" of David. While we often focus on his failure with Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11, the cracks in the foundation started a decade earlier. By looking at the volatile interaction between David and his wife Michal in 2 Samuel 6, we discover the warning signs of a marriage losing its connection. From the danger of "calcified bitterness" to the "dashboard indicator" of sarcasm, we explore how unresolved conflict creates a chasm that leaves us vulnerable. Whether you are in a season of bliss or feeling the chill of a distant spouse, this message offers a candid look at how to choose your spouse every day and protect the covenant you’ve built. In this sermon, we discuss:The Myth of the Sudden Failure: Why affairs are often the result of long-term neglect. The Michal Complex: How unresolved bitterness turns into contempt. The Sarcasm Warning: What your tone of voice says about the health of your heart. The "Homecoming" Test: What it looks like to return home to "bless your household" versus being "met with a mood."Vulnerability & Validation: The danger of seeking honor from others when you don’t feel it at home.Reflection Questions for Couples:Use these to spark a conversation on your next date night:What are some disappointments that have accumulated over time in our relationship?Does our home feel like a place of blessing or a place of "moods" and tension? How can we move from being "stiff-necked" to being tender with one another again?Scripture References:2 Samuel 6:14-23; 2 Samuel 11:1-3; Deuteronomy 17:17Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Recovering The Presence Of God! | Jason Holdridge
This message takes us on a journey through the Ark of the Covenant, revealing what happens when we approach God with enthusiasm but without reverence. We explore the tragic story of Uzzah in 2 Samuel 6, who reached out to steady the ark and died instantly—not because God is capricious, but because the Israelites had abandoned God's clear instructions about how His presence should be honored. They borrowed a 'new cart' idea from the Philistines instead of following God's original design with consecrated Levites carrying the ark on poles. This raises an uncomfortable mirror to our own lives: How often do we borrow the world's ideas and present them to God as improvements on His Word?Whether it's our views on sexuality, relationships, language, or priorities, we can fall into the trap of casual Christianity—believing in God while not actually obeying what He says. The Ark's power wasn't meant to be punitive but purposeful; when Obed-Edom honored God's presence correctly, his entire household was blessed. The message calls us back to reverence, reminding us that before we can be leaders in God's kingdom, we must first be followers. It challenges us to take six deliberate steps in our walk with God: acknowledging He is God and we are not, following rather than leading Him, trusting His ways are higher, decreasing so He can increase, obeying rather than expecting Him to obey us, and keeping Him as our only God without idols. This isn't about fear that drives us away, but reverence that draws us into the fullness of His blessing.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchHome Instagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Battles In The Unseen Realm! | Ryan Kresge
This powerful exploration of spiritual warfare pulls back the curtain on the invisible realm where angels and demons clash over our prayers, families, and daily battles.Through David's encounters with the Philistines in 2 Samuel 5, we discover a God who doesn't just bless our plans—He goes before us with armies of angels when we wait for His timing. The imagery is stunning: David waiting to hear the sound of marching in the poplar trees before moving forward, understanding that victory comes not from rushing ahead but from staying aligned with God's movement. We're introduced to 'Lord Sabaoth'—the God of angel armies—a name first cried out by a desperate mother named Hannah and passed down through generations. This isn't the sanitized, theoretical Christianity many of us learned in Sunday school. This is visceral, tangible faith that recognizes every prayer we utter launches spiritual warfare in the heavenly realms. When we pray, angels are dispatched. When demons resist, battles rage for days or weeks before breakthrough comes. The revelation from Daniel 10 is sobering: our prayers matter so much that they trigger cosmic conflicts we cannot see.The challenge before us is profound—are we living with what one commentator called 'a refined spirit of atheism,' believing in God intellectually while making decisions as if He doesn't exist?Or will we call on the God who mounts cherubim, rides through the heavens, and reaches down to rescue us because He delights in us?

A Church On The Move! | Max Spoelstra
"What’s a question you’ve been asked that has changed your life?"One year ago, we launched the Rockford Campus with a simple yet terrifying question: "Will you follow me anywhere?" As we celebrate our first anniversary, we look back at the "nets" we’ve left behind—the security, the familiarity, and the comfort of the known—to embrace a mission that is entirely out of our control, but completely within His.In this special anniversary message, we explore two pivotal moments in the New Testament: Jesus’ first words to His disciples and His last. Whether you are in a season of "ineffective fishing" (desperation and failure) or you are staring at a net full of fish (success and security), the invitation remains the same: Follow Me.Jesus promised, "I will make you fishers of men," and over the last year, we’ve seen Him turn our "fisherman" skills into kingdom purpose. We look back at:Pre-Launch & Easter: A church learning to worship with one voice.Love Week & Food Packing: A church learning to love its city practically.Summer Baptisms & Life Groups: A church rooted in community, depth, and legacy.Radical Generosity: A church responding with time, energy, and resources.Following Jesus eventually leads to being sent by Jesus. We aren't just here to grow; we are here to Go. * The Authority: Jesus is in charge of the things that feel out of our control. The Presence: The promise that in the "messy middle" of ministry, we are never working alone. The Mission: Making disciples isn't about perfect strategy—it's about walking, talking, and helping others take their next step toward Christ."He grows us so that He can 'go' us."What We’re Celebrating (The Promise of Transformation):Where We’re Going (The Commission):

Goodness Is Greater Than Bitterness | Jake Heitman
What happens when you lose everything? In week two of our Rise and Fall series, we look at the life of David in 1 Samuel 30. After a devastating raid on Ziklag, David and his men find themselves at a crossroads of faith and exhaustion. When the world takes from us, our natural human instinct is toward bitterness, greed, and "keeping score." But David shows us a different way—the way of the Kingdom. Join us as we explore why Goodness is greater than Bitterness and how radical generosity can transform our lives. In this message, we discuss:The Power of Inquiry: Why asking God questions (Shaal) keeps us humble and dependent rather than fearful.Faith + Action: How David trusted God’s sovereignty while boldly pursuing the rescue mission. The Egyptian Slave: Lessons on showing care before questioning and finding heroes in unlikely places. The 200 vs. the 400: Why we should lead with "Generous Assumptions" instead of "Negative Conclusions" when others are exhausted. The Gospel Connection: How David’s decision to share the plunder with the weary foreshadows Jesus, who fought the battle we couldn't fight and gave us an inheritance we didn't earn."No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the Lord has given us... All will share alike." — 1 Samuel 30:23-24Subscribe to stay updated with our latest sermons!Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchHome Instagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome#David #1Samuel30 #RiseAndFall #Goodness #Generosity #FaithAndWorks #Sermon #ChristianLiving

Encouraging Yourself In The Lord! | Jon Bell
We encounter David at his absolute lowest point—returning to find his city burned, his family taken captive, and his own men ready to stone him.Yet in this moment of complete devastation, Scripture records something remarkable: 'David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.' This passage from 1 Samuel 30 reveals a profound spiritual discipline that separates those who merely survive crisis from those who thrive through it. David didn't wait for external encouragement or human comfort; he spoke directly to his own soul, drawing on a wellspring of faith planted deep within him.Through examining the Psalms—David's personal journal entries—we discover his self-talk wasn't empty positive thinking but Spirit-filled truth: 'Why so downcast, O my soul? Put your hope in God.' He calmed and quieted himself like a weaned child with its mother, recalling the faith modeled by his own mother whose name remains unrecorded but whose spiritual legacy saved her son in his darkest hour. This message challenges us to examine our own inner dialogue during crisis. Are we speaking life or death to ourselves? Are we rehearsing problems or recounting God's faithfulness? The ability to encourage ourselves in the Lord—to be in the Word so deeply that we can be in the Lord during catastrophe—may be the most critical spiritual skill we can develop for the inevitable Ziglag seasons of our lives.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchHome Instagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Seeking Out Opportunities | Max Spoelstra
Have you ever moved into a new home but left the boxes unpacked for months (or years)? It’s one thing to occupy a space; it’s another thing entirely to "move in"—to paint the walls, build the furniture, and decide that this is home.In this message, we dive into Jeremiah 29 to discover a powerful word God gave His people while they were in exile. Instead of telling them to keep their bags packed and wait for an exit, God told them to build houses, plant gardens, and seek the welfare of the city where they were planted. The vision for Impact Church this year is OUTREACH. We aren't just passing through our community; we are moving in. We are committed to the prosperity of our neighbors, our schools, and our city. Whether through collective initiatives or individual commissioning in the marketplace, we are called to reflect the character of God exactly where He has placed us.📖 Scripture References:Jeremiah 29:5-7 – Seek the welfare of the city.1 Peter 2:4-5 – You are living stones being built into a spiritual house.2 Corinthians 5:18-20 – We are ambassadors of reconciliation.Philippians 1:3-11 – A prayer for partnership in the Gospel.💡 Key Takeaways:Don't Just Occupy, Invest: Moving in means leaving a mark. The Treasures of Christmas | Ryan Kresge
The Treasures of Christmas | A King in a StableWe’ve all heard that "it’s more blessed to give than to receive," but have you ever stopped to consider the weight of the gifts given at the very first Christmas? It wasn't just about gold and incense; it was about the offering of lives, wills, and ultimately, the life of a Savior. In this message, we dive into the heart of the Christmas story to discover the "Indescribable Gift." From a quiet stable in a cave to the crushing heights of Gethsemane, we see a God who didn't just give a gift—He gave His very best. The Value of the GiftWhat is something truly worth? In the world of "Facebook Marketplace," a thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. When we look at the cross, we see the price God was willing to pay for you. You were bought with a price, and that price defines your worth. In this sermon, we explore five powerful gifts found in the Nativity:The Gift of Obedience (Joseph): Choosing to "keep and guard" God’s plan over our own reputation or desires. The Gift of Availability (Mary): Being an "available servant" who is open to God’s interruption and disruption. The Gift of the Best (The Magi): Opening our "treasure boxes" and offering our highest talents and status to the King. The Gift of Stewardship (The Shepherds): Keeping watch over a life that isn't ours and responding with watchful worship. The Indescribable Gift (God): The gift of Jesus—the only way for us to be reconciled to a Holy God."Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!" — 2 Corinthians 9:15Key Scripture Passages:Matthew 1:18-24 (Joseph’s Obedience)Luke 1:26-38 (Mary’s Availability)Matthew 2:1-12 (The Magi’s Best)Luke 2:8-9 (The Shepherds’ Stewardship)Romans 8:32 (The Father’s Sacrifice)John 3:16 (The Source of Love)Reflection Questions:What are you "keeping" or guarding for the Lord right now—your finances, your family, or your will?Like Mary, are you available for God to "disrupt" your plans this season? If a thing's value is determined by the price paid for it, what does the gift of Jesus say about your value to God?

This message from Sarah Esquivel takes us deep into 1 Samuel 20:30-34, where we witness a family dinner turn violent as Saul hurls both verbal abuse and a literal spear at his own son Jonathan. But this isn't just an ancient story - it's a mirror held up to our own family dynamics and the cycles we perpetuate behind closed doors. We're invited to look beyond the surface of anger to discover what lies beneath: fear, insecurity, shame, and unmet needs for safety and connection. The sermon challenges us to stop identifying only with the heroes like Jonathan and David, and to humbly ask where we might be acting like Saul in our own homes. What's truly hopeful here is the recognition that our fathers and mothers had stories too - wounds and baggage that shaped their behavior.Understanding this context doesn't excuse the pain, but it opens the door to compassion and healing. We're called to grieve what was lost in our childhoods and what we've allowed in our own homes, because only through honest grief can we find freedom. The invitation is clear: break the generational cycles of anger, fear, and shame by allowing the Holy Spirit to bring light to our darkness. This message offers hope that no matter what we've experienced or what we've become, God can redeem our stories and give us something different to pass on to the next generation.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Navigating A Life Under Attack | Jon Bell
This powerful message takes us deep into the tumultuous relationship between King Saul and David, exploring what it means to have a target on our backs. We discover David's incredible restraint as Saul attempts to kill him not once, not twice, but three times with a spear. What makes this story so compelling is David's choice of instruments: he carries a harp while Saul grips a harpoon. We're challenged to examine which instrument we're holding in our own conflicts - are we approaching situations with weapons of war or instruments of worship?Jon Bell reminds us that favor with God doesn't exempt us from becoming targets; sometimes our very calling provokes conflict.Yet like David, we can choose righteousness while still crying out to God in honest anguish. The Psalms reveal David's raw emotions - his fear, anger, and confusion - but they also show his remarkable ability to turn from despair to trust. We learn that God can handle our biggest emotions, our darkest questions, and our deepest pain. The question becomes: will we respond to persecution with revenge or with worship? Will we pick up the spear stuck in the wall, or will we flee to God in prayer?Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Uproot Jealousy & Insecurity In Your Life! | Jason Holdridge & Heidi Holdridge
In this exploration by Jason Holdridge & Heidi Holdridge of 1 Samuel 18:5-12, we confront one of the most insidious spiritual battles we face: the corrosive nature of comparison and jealousy. The contrast between Jonathan's celebration of David and Saul's murderous envy reveals a profound truth about human nature and spiritual health. When the women sang 'Saul has slain his thousands, David his ten thousands,' Saul had a choice—he could have invited David into his chariot and started the 'eleven thousand club' together.Instead, he fixated on what he perceived as a threat to his significance. This message challenges us to examine how we respond when others succeed: Do we celebrate their victories as part of a collective win, or do we keep a 'close eye' on them, consumed by what they have that we don't?The passage reminds us that a content heart gives life to the flesh, but envy rots the bones from the inside out. We're invited to break free from the exhausting cycle of scrolling, comparing, and measuring our lives against highlight reels that aren't reality. The antidote isn't simply knowing jealousy is wrong - it's practicing moment-to-moment generosity and gratitude, asking 'How can I make others feel special today?' and 'What do I have to be thankful for right now?'When we trust that God's plan for our lives is perfect and uniquely ours, we can finally want the lives we have rather than constantly wanting lives we don't.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Belief Within The Battle! | Jake Heitman
This message by Jake Heitman takes us to one of the most iconic battles in Scripture: David versus Goliath. But this isn't just a story about a young shepherd boy defeating a giant—it's a profound lesson about where we place our confidence when facing the overwhelming fears in our own lives. The narrative reveals that David didn't defeat Goliath through superior strength or weaponry, but through unwavering confidence in God's character and faithfulness. What makes this account so relevant to us today is recognizing that we all face our own 'Goliaths'—anxiety, depression, addiction, marital strife, identity struggles, or chronic pain. These giants feel nine feet tall and paralyze us into retreat, just as the Israelite army retreated in terror. Yet David's battle cry shows us a different way: 'You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.' Six times in his speech, David invokes God's name, making it clear that victory belongs to the Lord. The message challenges us to shift our focus from 'I' to 'He'—from self-reliance to God-dependence. We're reminded that confidence in God grows through three pathways: knowledge of His character, trust built through others' testimonies, and personal experience of His faithfulness. When these elements combine, they create a cycle of confidence leading to courage, which leads to action, which deepens our confidence further. This isn't passive faith—it's active, bold, running-toward-the-battle-line faith that transforms lives.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Knowing Your Identity | Ryan Kresge
In this exploration of David's encounter with Goliath, we're challenged to confront the giants in our lives with unwavering faith. The story from 1 Samuel 17 reminds us that God often prepares us for great battles through seemingly insignificant experiences.Just as David's time as a shepherd equipped him to face Goliath, our own 'pasture moments' are shaping us for future victories. We're encouraged to recognize that faithfulness in small things opens doors to greater responsibilities in God's kingdom. The message emphasizes the importance of embracing our unique identity in Christ, rather than trying to fit into someone else's armor.By trusting in our experiences with the living God and rejecting false identities, we can face our challenges with confidence, knowing that He who delivered us before will do so again.Website: https://impact.church Facebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchRockfordInstagram: https://instagram.com/ImpactChurchHome YouTube: https://youtube.com/@impactchurchhome TikTok: https://tiktokcom/@impactchurchhome

Navigating Resistance | Jon Bell
In this exploration of David's story, we're challenged to confront the resistance that often precedes our greatest battles. The familiar tale of David and Goliath takes on new depth as we examine the internal struggles David faced before even stepping onto the battlefield. We're reminded that sometimes our toughest opponents aren't the obvious giants, but the subtle voices of doubt, criticism, and discouragement - often from those closest to us.The scripture invites us to reflect on our own 'Eliabs' - those who question our motives, minimize our contributions, or attempt to keep us in our perceived place. Through David's response, we learn the importance of turning away from these voices and toward God's purpose for our lives. This message encourages us to recognize our inherent value, not defined by others' perceptions, but by God's calling on our lives. It's a stirring reminder that we all have something significant to contribute, regardless of age, position, or past experiences.Website: https://impact.churchInstagram: https://instagram.com/impactchurchhomeFacebook: https://facebook.com/impactchurchhome

Recognizing God's Calling | Max Spoelstra
In this exploration of character and calling by Max Spoelstra, we delve into the story of David's anointing in 1 Samuel 16.The central message challenges us to look beyond outward appearances and focus on the heart, just as God does. We're reminded that our true value lies not in our qualifications or competencies, but in our character and calling from God.The contrast between Saul's insecurity and David's humble submission serves as a poignant lesson for us all. Are we, like Saul, desperately trying to prove ourselves in positions we weren't called to? Or are we, like David, willing to be faithful in obscurity, trusting God's timing and purpose? This message encourages us to find our confidence and security in God's calling, rather than in external validations. It's a call to align our hearts with God's, to become 'little Christs' who reflect Jesus to the world around us. As we embrace our identity as chosen, royal priesthood, we can live with a confidence that endures through every trial and triumph.Website: https://impact.churchFacebook: https://facebook.com/ImpactChurchHomeInstagram: https://instagram.com/impactchurchhome
