Episode 635 - J1 Matchday 4
Jonny and Ben were joined by a pair of our correspondents on this episode, after their sides notched first wins of the new season on Saturday night, after both had endured a rough start to the campaign. First up is Ralf Seidl on Urawa, who downed Yokohama F.Marinos 3-2 at home (to 22:15), then Jamie Meikle hops on to discuss Kyoto's win over Fukuoka, and their mass signings of Brazilians ahead of a first ACL Elite campaign (to 42:25). Then in Part 3, Jonny and Ben run through the other results, including Kawasaki also winning for the first time, and Kashiwa and Kashima staying perfect, before we wrap things up with a couple of cupsets from the Emperor's Cup last midweek, and look ahead to the next two rounds of fixtures.

JTET - J2 Round 2 Review
Later than usual due to summer holidays, James and Jon are back to pick over all the main talking points from Round 2 of the J2 season in a 25-minute mini-pod. In Part 1 (Start to 12:30), James takes a solo look back over the Saturday matches, and selects his Most Bravo Player of the round. Then in Part 2 (12:30 to Finish), Jon does similar for the Sunday games, with a special focus on the showpiece Yokohama FC v Iwata game that took place at Kokuritsu Kyogijo. Episode 632 - J1 Matchday 1
The new J1 season kicked off with a bang over the weekend, and Jonny and Ben were joined by Dan Orlowitz to chat about the record-breaking season opener at the National Stadium on Friday night between Yokohama F.Marinos and Kashima (to 19:30), and Machida's dominant away win over 10 man FC Tokyo on Saturday night (from 19:30 to 31:30). In Part 2 we begin our review of the other eight games with Gamba Osaka's thrilling win over 10 man Urawa, and move through the rest of the results (from 31:30 to 1:13:40), before looking ahead to the quirky Matchday 2 fixture list (to 1:19:20). Then, in a special Part 3, Dan brings us his recollections of working at the 2026 World Cup in his home city of Philadelphia (from 1:19:20 to end).

Jonny and Ben were joined by Fukuoka correspondent Daniel Hawkins to kick off our final batch of top flight previews, with Avispa hopefully set for a rise up the table after 'winning the window' (to 30:00). Episode 630 - J1 Previews Part 2
After an extended intro to this episode in which Jonny and Ben discuss the news that Go Oiwa will take over from Hajime Moriyasu after the Asian Cup, we were thrilled to welcome Hiroshima correspondent Robert Turner back to the pod to chat about Sanfrecce's big swings in the transfer market, and how they might fare under Bartosch Gaul (to 34:00). Then in Part 2 we move from west back east, previewing Okayama (34:05 to 45:20), Nagoya (45:20 to 55:50), FC Tokyo (55:50 to 1:08:45), Tokyo Verdy (1:08:45 to 1:20:00), Chiba (1:20:00 to 1:31:05) and Urawa (1:31:05 to end), leaving us with six more clubs to preview next week ahead of the big Friday night kickoff.

Episode 629 - J1 Previews Part 1
We kick off our previews of the new J1 season with seven clubs, and Seamus Johnston joined Jonny and Ben to chat about the first cab off the rank, 2025 runners-up Kashiwa (to 30:57). Then, with a ten minute time limit per club experiment in place, we stay in Kanto, and run the rule over defending champions Kashima (to 41:15) and their promoted Ibaraki chums Mito (to 50:55), before we switch our attentions to Machida (to 1:00:45) and the two remaining Kanagawa clubs - Kawasaki (to 1:09:15) and Yokohama F.Marinos (to 1:18:20) - rounding things off with a trip down the Tokaido Line and into Shizuoka to preview Shimizu.

Episode 628 - Moriyasu Stays, J.League Comings and Goings
After a week away Jonny and Ben are back as we begin to look forward to kickoff of the new J1 season. We start the episode with some World Cup chat, and reaction to the news that Hajime Moriyasu will stay on as Japan manager through the Asian Cup before departing (to 12:30), then we move on to discuss J1 managerial musical chairs, and the players who have left the J.League for pastures new ahead of the new campaign (to 36:35). We finish with thoughts on new kit hits and misses, and the league doing a better job of promoting themselves on the back of World Cup buzz.

After Japan's heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Brazil, Ryo Nakagawara joined Jonny and Ben for a post mortem/therapy session as we discuss the Samurai Blue's latest World Cup knockout stage failure. Starting from the end, and Gabriel Martinelli's stoppage time winner for Brazil, we work our way back through the game, taking some time out (from 30:00) to discuss whether or not Hajime Moriyasu should continue as Japan manager through January's Asian Cup and beyond. We also share our general reflections on Japan's tournament, and thoughts on their best performers throughout the four games they played.

Jonny and Ben were thrilled to welcome former J-Talk co-host Sam Robson back to the pod to review Japan's superb 4-0 romp over Tunisia in their second Group F match at the World Cup. Episode 623 - Kobe Clinch the CEJLC
Jonny and Ben review the J1 playoff 2nd legs on this episode, beginning with Kashima's home win that was merely window dressing as Kobe claimed the CEJLC title with a 5-2 aggregate win (to 35:50). Then we select our Best XI from the east across the league phase, and finish the pod with a brief look ahead to Japan's World Cup opener against the Netherlands. #We are aware of a couple of audio issues during the episode, most notably around the 42:20 mark, where Jonny's selection of Alex Scholz for one of the centre back spots in our Best XI mysteriously disappeared from the audio file, the audio picks up with Ben agreeing with Jonny's selection.#

Episode 621 - J1 Matchday 18
The league phase of the CEJLC concluded over the weekend, and in Part 1 of this episode Jonny begins with the battle for top spot between Kobe and Nagoya as he rounds up the five games in the west (to 11:50), then gives out grades for each west club on their overall half season (to 22:50). Next, in Part 2, Ben runs through the five east games (to 35:20), then, with feedback from Jonny, gives his grades for each east team (to 59:00). Finally, to finish off the episode, Jonny gives his Under 23 Best XI from the east and west combined, then we look ahead to the weekend's playoff 1st legs.

Finally, we were joined by Urawa correspondent Ralf Seidl to discuss the end of Maciej Skorza's reign, the improvement under interim boss Tatsuya Tanaka, and the impending appointment of Cho Kwi Jae as the new permanent Reds manager.

JTET - Golden Week Special (J2/J3 100 YVL Round 14 & 15 Review)
After a hectic Golden Week slate of J2/J3 matches, James & Jon return to look over the big talking points from the most recent games! In Part 1 (Start to 11:50), James picks out the vital information from Round 14 (played last weekend) from the Western perspective, while in Part 2 (11:50 to 22:10), Jon does similar for the East divisions. In Part 3 (22:10 to 47:30), the boys got together for the first time in a fortnight to talk about the Round 15 games from the West (played on Wednesday afternoon/evening), before finishing off with a review of everything from Round 15 in the East (47:30 to Finish).
