#Dramaalert
This might not be a super interesting episode to most but there has been some "Drama" regarding our local scene that we simply had to discuss it but there are some great gems in this episode that we think stands up to our strict entertainment standards for our audience. Will this bother some people? Perhaps, but please feel free to LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW about how you feel and we can talk about it. We try and bring a neutral and level-headed approach to a semi-serious issue and we hope you the listeners wherever you may be can appreciate that and take what we say into the world to foster a better future. In the city of Rochester we celebrate Pride Month in July, and to do that we covered two bands that we feel are very important in regards to not just LGBT visibility but punk and hardcore; Dicks and Big Boys. Going Bananas for Operation Ivy
After a hectic day of rocking and Internet Hardcore Discourse™ we sit down to discuss a beloved and still influential band from the west coast, Operation Ivy. The 924 Gilman luminaries brought an interesting sound to the era of youth crew, crossover and thrash metal were reigning supreme but the band ended as quickly as it started. Despite this they left a lasting impact on punk rock and we figured it was time to cover it. Might have to do an episode on Two Tone soon, let us know if you want us to pick it up!kingsofpunk.com

Is this list full of crap or are people just being too harsh? Legacy of... FUGAZI
The KINGS kick off the start of April with a deep dive into the raw, uncompromising legacy of one of hardcore punk’s most intense and influential bands: FUGAZI. Known for their blisteringly fast sound, politically charged lyrics, and confrontational presence, FUGAZI reshaped the boundaries of aggression in hardcore—laying the groundwork for what would become known as powerviolence. This episode portends a big KOPPOD month as it traces the band’s early years in Washington, D.C., their landmark recordings, and their lasting impact on generations of extreme music. From their iconic Repeater LP to their legendary $5 shows, FUGAZI’s presence looms large—and we’re breaking it all down here, on April 1st, 2025.Whether you’re a longtime fan or just hearing about them for the first time right now, as March has come to a close, this episode is required listening for anyone interested in how hardcore evolved at the margins—and how FUGAZI helped redefine its fury.
