The Mountain Mysteries

The Mountain Mysteries podcast deals with the pain of the family members who are left behind when someone they love is murdered, abducted and missing, and those who have experienced ghostly encounter, or strange creatures or beings. We are not judges, we are story tellers and people who support other people and realize all too very well, that just because we can't explain something, doesn't make it any less viable. With episodes hosted, produced and written by veteran broadcaster and marketer Chris Slone, a voice heard all over the mountains for years, we bring your stories to life.

    Monsters Under The Bridge

James Darrell Osborne was a good man who lived a life of integrity and love, laughter and friendship and would do anything for most anyone he could.  This, is what nightmares are made of, not the kind of nightmares where there’s a monster under the bed looking to eat the kids, not the kind of nightmares where you run and run and still can’t escape some masked killer wielding a knife or machete, then again, when you’re loved one is murdered by a coward, or cowards in cold blood and you have no answers, then there is a killer, or worse yet, killers on the loose, the monsters in the closet and under the bed become all too real, that anonymity becomes the mask, and the nightmare has no waking moment where you come to realize it was all just a bad dream, instead you’re left with something far less than resolve, you have to face this nightmare in the waking hours. This episode is about a man you'll get to know and come to realize that a senseless murder has happened here, and justice desperately needs to be served. The Mountain Mysteries: At The Punkin Patch, A collection of autumn and Halloween tales

For Halloween or anytime you want to be a bit creeped out, this is a family friendly episode but some of the stories are a bit on the frightening side. Many of the stories were written by S.E. Schlosser, she is one of the most talented writers I've read. Many of these stories are abound from folklore and superstition but certainly serve a purpose in their telling's and impart a certain warning and wisdom. This is for the kids, and kids at heart. The Mountain Mysteries, Episode 53: Afterlife, What Happens Next?

It's a question that's been asked as long as people have walked the earth, what happens when we die? Many religions have attempted to answer this, but the uncertainty is still there. In this episode, learn facts and opinions as well as the experiences of paranormal investigators that have went toe to toe with some entities, and had some moments of awakening. We'll hear from various people on what they believe comes after this life, if anything, as well as a nurse who's spent more than 30 years dealing with death and the moment people leave this life for what comes next.   This is the episode that introduced The Gatherings hostess to everyone.  Also, we'll hear from John Marshall, who spent years researching as an investigator and hear about an attachment that nearly drove him out of the field altogether. Gathering's co-host Stacia Underwood Gullet from 606 paranormal also describes her experiences and the dangers associated with investigating, and the reason's we should all ponder the question, what's next? The Mountain Mysteries: Episode 67, 36 hours to oblivion The Daviess County John Doe

It was the turn of a new decade. 1990 offered promise to some and would offer a decades long unsolved murder to one in particular. Daviess county Kentucky sets along the Kentucky Indiana border and has some 96,000 people that call it home. It’s had the reputation as the leading producer of alcoholic drinks, specifically Kentucky Bourbon for years. The Southwestern part of the county had been a leader in the production of coal through the 1960’s and is home to its county seat of Owensboro. It’s known for many things, most of which its residents are proud of, some though, shun the darker times. Time, it’s funny we should put it like that, time is an odd thing, it can drag on far longer than any of us would like. Our story begins on January 7, 1990, in Owensboro, Kentucky; the place where NASCAR legends Michael Darrel Waltrip were born, along with acting legend Johnny Depp. Two rabbit hunters were out in a wooded area when they came across the naked body of a white male. They instantly contacted police, who arrived on the scene not long after and proclaimed that it was “the worst they’d ever seen”. That isn’t exaggeration either, most cops who saw the remains stated as much. To this day, over three decades later, this John Doe has still not been identified. Who was he? Why was he murdered, and by whom. These are The Mountain Mysteries, and this is episode 67, 36 hours to oblivion, The Daviess County John Doe. ABOUT THIS SHOW
