The Moving On Again Podcast

Moving on Again is a conversational podcast where we discuss our lives in real time, the family of seven that we have been blending for 8 years, and the mistakes we make along the way. We want to be a rescue for others...a type of rescue WE needed ourselves all those years ago. We want to humbly offer our experiences as a road map on what to do, and what you REALLY ought not! Holy smokes! We also want those same stories to sit right next to you to show you that you are not alone, as our God comforts you with His grace and unconditional love. After forty-six episodes of the Moving On Podcast Jay and I came to an impass. Would that be a nice stopping point after five seasons? Or were we to continue? After a month of tough deliberation and confusing discussion, the kind where he uses one language and I use another entirely, we were at a loss. We defeatedly cancelled our website, podcast email, and online farm store. Cancelled the ten monthly subscriptions you need to hold to maintain a p

Moving On Again Podcast - 59 - Thriving Against the Odds: The Secrets Behind Our Marriage and Family

This episode comes off the heels of Jay's favorite weekend of the year, the Amarillo Ranch Rodeo Finals. While there we were able to spend some amazing quality time with our friend, a widow, and her new boyfriend, also a widow. The depth at which the we could share our experiences and feelings about life after loss with each other was incredibly healing and connecting. We both made note at how helpful it seemed for them to be able to speak of their past-spouses, something we have always tried to stay completely away from. The emotional maturity they both displayed was so easy to be around, and encouraged us as observers to strive for the same. Even though their relationship is only a year old, the wealth of knowledge they brought to the table was invaluable. I believe Jay and I were resisting these tools to keep the peace, and that the timing of this new relationship was sent to spur finally recieving said tools to further improve our relationship.  The things we can stand to teach each other, my goodness. We love ya'll! 903-206-9763 (text us)

Moving On Again Podcast - 58 - Blending a Family; Holding Strong through the Clumps

This week we reflect on the many ways our blended family has matured into a family that can sustain struggle and imperfection instead of burning the house down to start over. Clumps can be totally expected in a blend, and THAT is something that we are grateful for knowing. That tool of simply knowing and accepting imperfection has been invaluable to us to sit back and let the chips fall where they may. Jess's Insta - instagram.com/jess_rush_norman Jess's Tiktok

Moving on Again Podcast - 57 - The Journey of our Faith Beyond the Church

This week we unpack our thoughts, feelings, and truth on our current existence outside of the church. It's definitely as black and white as we would have always assumed of this topic. We would LOVE to hear from you on this episode as we continue to surrender this part of our lives to the Lord, and pray that you are able to get further down the path of discovery in your own lives. We love yall! Kam's gofundme here ;)

Moving On Again Podcast - 56 - Kam Elliott Returns; Friendship to the Very End

As we have watched our two oldest children navigate new environments and brand new relationships it brought up the question of when and how we found our main connections, what is important to us about those connections, and how those friendships enrich our lives. At 34 and 39, Kam and I found each other after a simple DM on Instagram-seemingly the most unconventional of methods but it sure did the trick and here we are doing our whole lives together five years later! We hope you enjoy tonights laughs and conversation, we think of each of you often!

Moving On Again Podcast - 52 - Seeing the Grey and Standing In the Middle

Real quick, we live at Jess's IG and Tiktok lately, so it's the best place to find us and our activity of our lives and story after we felt the need to consolidate all of our platforms.  instagram.com/jess_rush_norman Now back to this show! This one came on the heels of a mass shooting that occurred very near our home, while our children happened to be IN that very town without us at a trampoline park close by. As fear and worry has tried to drown all parts of us we desperately choose to seek gratitude, peace, and connection, instead. To the families that lost your loved ones, to the moms and dads that lost your little children-I wish this was a nightmare we could help shake you awake from. Our broken hearts sit right by yours, and will continue to do so for the rest of our lives.

Moving On Again Podcast - 51 - Can Fighting In Your Marriage Be a Good Thing, and Jess Has Something Pretty Vulnerable to Share

Hi! It's me, Jess. I usually type these out in third person to sound, I don't know I guess a little more professional and savvy. This one, however is pretty important to me, and I'd like to take a moment to speak from the heart...well, because at this moment this heart is ready to "cut and run" as fear and shame bang at the door. You guys know that one of my hugest inspirations is Dax Sheperd and Armchair Expert, and this week he said, "I think we all have a fear in what being dead honest and dead vulnerable will result in, and generally we think it will result in embarrassment and shame but through practicing that for 15 years 100% of the time that I'm honest and own my fears what I see on other people is not like judgement or or or disapproval, it's recognition - always recognition."  With Jay's help I have chosen to be "dead honest and dead vulnerable" and to go INSIDE the arena, no matter the cost. In this episode I share a secret with you all that I have held for a long time, and I pray our trust in this community continues to flourish as we Move On......Again. I love ya'll with everything I have. Jess - xoxo

You are going to be so blessed while listening, as these two have such whole hearts that see the world in such a beautiful and helpful way-passing along incredible nuggets of wisdom without even trying! This one was quite important for Jess, as she dealt with one of her larger demons at the end of the show RIGHT before Jay attempts to get divorced from her! ;) https://www.instagram.com/kenyalanders/ https://www.instagram.com/navarrobulldogsad/

Moving On Podcast - 38 - Sharks Don't Swim Backwards, with Rob and Emily Sharkey

These beautiful folks, Rob and Emily Sharkey are on our brand-spankin'-new and ON TIME🤣 episode of the Moving on Podcast out now! I have to admit, when the Lord placed them on my heart a few months ago to invite on the show I was apprehensive. I was fearful for us to interview RIGHT in front of seasoned interviewers that host shows DAILY, and on television to boot! No thank you, God, but I appreciate your prompting so much🙈 Thank goodness we asked, and even more thankful they said yes! This power couple is out to change the world of agriculture by promoting it, educating the public, and giving us all a bigger voice! They are life-savers and game-changers in our community....folks I want my children to know and be around. Right before pressing record we watch Em reach over and sweetly grab Rob's beard with a "Robbieee". We sure love these friends of ours, and have a huge respect for the sacrifices and hard work they've done together....for others! What a story! We can't wait for you to hear!   www.sharkfarmer.com

Moving On Podcast - Ignoring the Speck in Someones Eye to Address the Cross Tie in our Own

It's back to just Jay and Jess this week, as they discuss anger issues within their marriage, in parenting, and in general life lessons. They talk about learning to study their anger for what it truly represents rather than riding the wave of rage into destruction. They're learning that Apocalyptic Arguments over the laundry probably have very little to do with the actual laundry and what they can do to smoke out the real issues. This way they can grow into healthier forms of personal growth and conflict resolution, further avoiding gigantic flames of "2nd marriage" annihilation. They also introduce and pass along a teaching from their pastor, John Mckinzie, to "draw a circle around yourself" and how helpful that can be when focusing so intently on the speck in their brother's eye while there is a plank in their own.(paraphrased Matt 7:5)

Moving On Podcast - 20 - The Power of Christ and the Support of a Good Woman with Jerry Searls

Jay and Jess host their very first guest, their dear friend, Jerry Searls as he describes his battle with alcoholism, and the destruction it brought to his life and family. This true survivor story will take you through the ups and downs of his life, to the deepest of the darkest pit, as he describes how he wasn't, of course, able to kick the habit on his own. He experienced the power of Christ with the Lord coming in and kicking it for him, changing him from the inside out to the loving, happy, crazy, fun-loving man they call their "brother" these days! By delivering Jerry from this disease, God preserved Jerry's beautiful family, and has allowed him to live to minister to others that may be experiencing the same things he was in the that season, helping them to find the direction and help they need. Jerry's story is one that you will want to pass along to anyone dealing with something that has caused them to not be able to fully manage their lives on their own any longer, whether it be food, drugs, alcohol, or anything else that can become addictive. They praise the Lord for delivering Jerry so that they can possibly vacation with him soon. :)

Moving On Podcast - 19 - To Each His Own

    This episode barely made it to the editing table! Jay and Jess got a little sideways, said some things they wish they could take back, but they picked themselves up by their bootstraps, got it done and are moving on! This week they talk about comparisons, and how incorrect it is "to compare what we don't know about someone's lives to what we do know about our own". {That quote came from their pastor John Mckinzie at Hope Fellowship in McKinney, TX} Comparison can be the thief of all joy, and the Normans discuss what they can do to relearn healthier practices for themselves and their children. Jess gives an update to her asthma and anxiety, and shares what the sport of running has done for both. Somewhere near the end, Jay decides to recite his favorite poem and Jess nearly passes out because just last year Jay didn't even want his picture on the inter webs. She clearly asks, "what is even happening right now?!".  As always, Jay and Jess finish up strong and make sure to send all of their listeners to their brother and sister podcasts: What the Farm? // {click here to listen} Sharkfarmer Podcast // {click here to listen} Midwest Farmwives Podcast // {click here to listen} And please head on over to Jay and Jess's website to learn more about what they are doing! {here}

Jay and I discuss the state of the Farming Industry and what some of our "heavy hitters" are doing on social media to shed light on our industry, the farms, and the families the farms represent! We also talk about the healthy ways we can "seek wise counsel" before making important decisions, and how detrimental it can be to constantly fly solo and make life-decisions based on feelings that are not fact!

Moving On Podcast - 16 - Stealthy Stepparenting

We just returned from the best vacation we have ever had as the seven of us!  Jay and I worked out the entire week! We spent time in the Word, in meditation, viewing sunsets/sunrises, talking to the Lord, talking to each other, and anything else that would help to "fill our cups" so that we could pour over the kids each day all day! Jay and I figured out a few things about our relationships with our stepchildren, and we ultimately came up with a plan to grow each of those relationships while leaving our own relationship unhindered. Moving On Podcast - 15 - I Get My Way, and You Get Yours

This is where I get stumped, this is my fifth draft. Do any of you actually read these, anyways? I am not great with grammar/spelling, and I use an awful lot of unnecessary commas. That makes me very self-conscious. It is hard for me not to be able to use emojis to complete my sentiments. Like incredibly hard. Jay has never had to sit down and write one of these, and he seems so happy. This episode is the FIRST one from the new studio. My favorite thing we discussed in this episode was how we walked through a situation that has caused an ugly fight between us 100% of the time, and THIS time it DID NOT. We break it down like game-tape! Did I ever tell you all how much I love you all? "Finally content with a past I regret" -Rascal Flatts "Let go of the expectation that if you work on yourself enough you won't struggle anymore. If you work on yourself enough you'll understand what the struggle is for" -Brianna Wiest www.movingonpodcast.com https://www.instagram.com/moving_on_podcast/ https://www.instagram.com/jessie_rush_norman/ https://www.instagram.com/norman_agriproducts/ https://www.facebook.com/graceandhumilitypodcast/ https://www.facebook.com/jessie.rushnorman

ABOUT THIS SHOW
