The De Soto Death March
We begin our podcast by following the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto on his ill-fated expedition to Arkansas in the 16th century. De Soto was the first European explorer to come to Arkansas. His band of violent conquistadors blazed a path of death and destruction through the Arkansas native cultures. But de Soto would never leave Arkansas alive.
