The Penniless Writer
by Daniel Hietala
I’ve wanted to be an author since I won a writing award in fifth grade. After forty years of writing, earning an MFA, teaching English, and self-publishing a handful of books, I still don’t have an agent or a book deal. So I’m going after it, and telling you my story along the way wherever that leads. Each episode tackles my current place as a writer, my recent struggles, my insights into the writing process, and my next move as I attempt to break into the traditional publishing industry. I talk honestly about the writing craft, the editing process, building habits around a demanding day job, self-publishing in the age of AI, and what it actually takes to navigate these challenges while going down a road less traveled. If you’re forging yourself into a real writer too, come along for the journey. Fill out the form below to get a free copy of my book, Manifest Your Story in 21 Days.
