The Pitt Perspective

Councilwoman Mary Perkins-Williams is a Pitt County native with a compelling story about the mistreatment of black employees in a white environment at a PWI institution. Her story showcases the often unheard history of most PWIs in the country. 

We were delighted to get Rabbi Harley on our podcast for this episode. Ashley interviewed him about his unique position as a Rabbi/former Rabbi in Pitt County. She touched on minority relations, Anti-Sematism, and more!

In this episode of The Pitt Perspective, we interview Tamilla Wiggins, an African-American woman who lives with PTSD. Most people don't think of mental illness as a disability but it is very real. This is a story of someone who has to fight to get the care she deserves and we enjoyed listening to every minute of her story. We know you will too! 

For Disability Employment Awareness Month, we wanted to highlight Tommy Cloyd. Tommy has been around Pitt County for 2 decades and has seen the good, bad, and the ugly when it comes to accessibility for people with disabilities. We absolutely loved hearing Tommy's story and know you will too.
