(BEST OF) Brenna Huckaby (USA Para Snowboarding)

CURIOSITY | Para-snowboarder Brenna Huckaby describes her journey from Louisiana to professional snowboarding as a bit of a “Jamaican Bobsled” story. After losing her leg to cancer, she was introduced to the mountains through a hospital program designed to help recent amputees rebuild confidence — the idea being that if they could conquer a physical mountain, the metaphorical ones ahead might feel a little less daunting.   For Brenna, it was love at first sight. Racing down the mountain reignited a spark cancer had tried to extinguish.    From learning to live with a prosthetic leg, to becoming a mother at 19, to chasing Paralympic history, Brenna has carried a contagious curiosity — about how to show up fully for herself, her family, and those who look up to her, all with authenticity and heart.    This conversation is for anyone who has ever felt like their hardest day might break them and wondered where strength and hope could possibly come from. Brenna shares the hard-earned roadmap she’s traveled — one that guides us toward a more courageous, curious, and joyful existence.   For more on the Winter Paralympics in Milan-Cortina, follow @ThePowHERful on Instagram!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

    Oyuna Uranchimeg (USA Wheelchair Curling)

RESILIENCE | When Oyuna Uranchimeg visited the US in 2002 from Mongolia, she had no idea how her life would change. A car accident left her paralyzed, in a foreign country, with a six-year old son at home who needed her. As she prepares for her 2nd Paralympics representing Team USA in wheelchair curling, Oyuna shares how she showed up for herself, despite days when she wasn’t sure she could. This is a story about resilience, about self-belief, and the ways we can all do it until our own Team USA moment arrives. Natalie Allport (CAN Freeride Snowboarding)

INTUITION | Natalie Allport appears to be absolutely fearless. A former member of the national snowboarding team in slopestyle, former competitive Crossfiter and current member of the Freeride World Tour where she snowboards off cliffs on raw mountain faces around the world, she takes on everything that comes her way without faltering. However, in this episode, Allport shares how developing a relationship with her intuition has helped her overcome fears that once crippled her. It’s a skill she’s honed as much as her technical snowboarding skills and the best part is, we can all tap into it the same way.  Check out Nat on the 2026 Freeride World Tour and on TikTok   For more on the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, follow @ThePowHERful on Instagram!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

(BEST OF) Deedra Irwin (USA Biathlon)

SELF-BELIEF | Biathlete Deedra Irwin is chasing history in Milan-Cortina, trying to earn Team USA their first ever Olympic medal in Biathlon. With a military background, there was plenty of crossover for Irwin into a sport that involves multiples laps of cross country skiing and shooting. Her fight for a medal comes as she, along with her teammates, also fought to overhaul a culture within the sport that allowed sexual harassment to be far too prevalent. Irwin details the emotions felt all too often by those fighting for change and shares her why in the fight and where things stand now with the 2026 Games upon us.   For more on the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, follow @ThePowHERful on Instagram!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

(BEST OF) Jaelin Kauf (USA Freestyle Skiing - Moguls)

PROCESS | Jaelin Kauf has won nearly every accolade possible in her sport of moguls; an Olympic silver, seven-time US Champion, 16 World Cup wins and the reigning World Champion. But this small-town Wyoming athlete is leaning into something entirely different heading into the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics - the process. She explains how a mindset shift set her up to win the silver in Beijing and how leaning further into the present has made every moment feel highlight-worthy. 12. 38

Maddy Schaffrick (USA Snowboarding - Halfpipe)

PURPOSE | At 20 years old snowboarder Maddy Schaffrick thought she would never pick up a snowboard again. The sport that had been her life, her career as a pro snowboarder out of Steamboat Springs, Colorado had wrecked her, ruined her, and left her wondering what on earth to do with herself as someone who spent very little of her adolescent years in the ‘regular’ world. She became a plumber, then a coach to little kids to get a free ski pass, and finally a developmental coach to the next-gen of up-and-coming snowboarders. This episode validates the trauma that all-too-often occurs within teenage sport prodigies, we walk through the process of healing, and the ultimate comeback. This PowHERful Podcast is for anyone who’s been hurt in the past who so desperately wants to rewire that pain into purpose. For Maddy it’s led her to her very first Olympic Games. Where could it lead you?   For more on the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, follow @ThePowHERful on Instagram!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sophia Kirkby (USA Women's Doubles Luge)

ADAPTABILITY | Sophia Kirkby is making her Olympic debut, along with her sport of women’s doubles luge, in large part thanks to her ability to adapt. If that’s you - you’ll find camaraderie here with Kirkby, whose handmade pins and desire for a dating life in Cortina add a fun twist to her Olympic journey. If that isn’t you, but you hope to be one day - in this episode you’ll find the example of the type of vulnerability and strength it takes to develop that adaptability.    For more on the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, follow @ThePowHERful on Instagram!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  16. 34

    Anna Gibson (USA Skimo)

OPTIMISM | At first Anna Gibson thought the idea of joining Team USA’s ski mountaineering training camp was a bit ridiculous. She’s a professional trail and track runner, and diverting into ski mountaineering, a sport that will make its Olympic debut in Milan-Cortina, wasn’t in her 2025 plans. But then she asked the question ‘what if?’ and had the courage to look at the positive possibilities. Instead of focusing on what if it didn’t work out, she leaned into the belief that what if it did? The result: she’s an Olympian, and will represent Team USA in skimo in Italy. This episode is for anyone who’s also wondered ‘what if’ when considering a change, a career move, a new city, a new hobby, and shows what’s possible when you choose to chase it.    For more on the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, follow @ThePowHERful on Instagram!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Lakey Peterson, a veteran of the World Surf League Championship Tour, represents a pivotal generation of female trailblazers. Picking yourself back up after a fall is never easy but it’s something competitive mountain biker Jess Blewitt knows how to do all too well. When you look at her last few years it would be so easy to focus on the injuries, but that is far from what the first ever female entrant to Red Bull Hardline has done. Instead she shares a lesson about the power of presence and managing fear in a world where we're constantly told if we're not moving, not performing, we're falling behind. _____ This episode of The PowHERful Podcast is brought to you by Mophie – Go to mophie.com to find the perfect solution to keep you powered up for everything you needSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Paris 2024 marked another meaningful step forward for equality in Paralympic sport, but the work is far from over. Through her work with Culxtred, the athlete-led storytelling platform she co-founded with fellow PowHERful guest Brenna Huckaby, Dani is challenging the way we talk about adaptive athletes. She’s changed her goalposts, she’s adjusted her routine and she’s bet on herself again, and in this episode of The PowHERful Podcast she shares the blueprint of how we too can overcome disappointment, and always remember - your story is full of chapters and even the worst one, is only a single one.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
