The Presidential Radio Address
by Primary Source History
All of the Presidents' Weekly Addresses. From FDR's fireside chats to Reagan's "weekly radio address," to Biden's "weekly conversations." Enjoy this daily bite-sized piece of American history, from 1933 to today. A variety of different names, but all part of the same tradition of personal weekly messages from our Presidents to their citizens. Reagan, Clinton, Bush and Obama gave these almost every week, while Roosevelt, Bush Sr., Trump, and Biden were more sporadic, but they are all here. (Presidents from FDR to Reagan didn't give these addresses.) Enjoy, and have fun learning!

"The Challenges We Face" (American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan) President Obama's weekly messages were recorded as videos, and uploaded each week to YouTube, on an official White House channel. They were also posted on the White House web site. While they were still broadcast on the radio in some areas, the focus shifted away from radio as a means of communication, and toward the internet and social media. During this time, the "radio addresses" were rebranded as the "President's weekly address" or "weekly video address." The YouTube videos are labeled as "Your Weekly Address." Each address has an official title, which is in quotations. Alternate titles, in brackets, are taken from The Obama White House channel on YouTube, or other official releases. For the first few months, there were no alternate titles available, so I just listed the topic.
