The ProPresenter Show

On today’s show, why you should be careful about upgrading to MacOS Catalina…even if ProPresenter itself will work fine with it. Hi and welcome again to the ProPresenter show, this is the show where I help you learn about ProPresenter, my name’s Paul Alan Clifford and before we get started, make sure to subscribe and click on the little bell icon so that you can be among the first to learn the new tips and tricks I share. MacOS Catalina was announced last month at Apple’s world wide developer conference, and while there are some things are are gonna be awesome, one thing will be troublesome to some, especially if you have the multiscreen or edge blending modules. — I got this information from 9 to 5 Mac. Hold down option and click on the apple icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Then, while holding it down, click on system information. Now, scroll down to software and expand it by clicking the triangle next to if…if it’s not pointed down already. Now select Applications. After a moment (depending on how much software you have), it will populate a list. Now scroll sideways until you see a “64-bit (intel)” column. Click on the column and it will list apps by whether or not they are 64-bit. Now, look for apps that you need to replace. One important one, if you have the multi-screen or edge blending module is Matrox PowerDesk. Another one is MPEG Streamclip. So that’s it; 32-bit apps are on their way out. Now you know which ones you have and whether this will be an issue for you. It could be that some of them you don’t use with ProPresenter, but need them for other things, so just be careful. Last week on the ProPresenter Users’ Group on Facebook someone asked how to add seconds to the stage display clock, not just the countdown time, but the clock. ProPresenter 6 Tutorial: Corner pinning Join the conversation; call 1-877-763-3246, leave a comment below the video, or hit me up on Twitter (@PaulAlanClif) ProPresenter 6 Tutorial: Corner pinning Let’s imagine that you need to do keystone correction because your projector isn’t perfectly aligned to the screen. Normally, the function in the projector is the way to go, but if you can’t do that or if there’s a reason that doing it with software is better, ProPresenter has a feature called “corner pinning” that does the exact thing you need. [tweet “If you can’t do keystone correction in your projector, corner pinning might be the way to go. Here’s how it works:”] First, open Pro6 (works the same way in Pro5, but the screens looks slightly different in the video above). Now, go to preferences and then displays. Midway down on the right hand side, there’s a check box to enable corner pinning. Chances are you won’t see any difference. To actually tweak the settings, you need to click the gear icon. Now, you’ll see a dialog box show up with a bunch of numbers in it. Let’s say you are outputting 720p, If so, the resolution is 1280×720. The upper left corner is numbered 0,0. The lower right is 1280,720. The upper right is 0,1280. The lower left is 720,0. I should say, that this isn’t something you set up every day. As you can tell from the video, it’s easy to get confused. Anyway, if your image is wide at the bottom and narrow at the top, tweak the corner pinning so that it’s the opposite. Ideally, the final image that everyone sees will fit the screen perfectly. For more on how to do this, watch the video above. This is the result. [tweet “In today’s propresenter 6 tutorial, we’re going to add a “black highlight” to text. Click here to make it easy to add and remove.”] In this case, adding a highlight isn’t using the highlighter in the telestrator. That works on one slide and isn’t very neat. The way to do it is draw a box under the lyrics. You’ll need to right click on the slide with the most words and select “edit slide”. Now, draw boxes over each line of lyrics. Then rearrange the order so that the boxes are underneath the words. Now, get out of the editor. Right click on the same slide and select template and then new template from slide.
