The Quality Control Show

by Solomon Harrison

The Quality Control Show is the brainchild of two friends with a passion for artistic media in the form of Movies, Games, shows, and everything in-between. After meeting in the 4th grade, they quickly sharpened one another's minds through philosophical discourse. They aren't afraid to ask each other hard questions, such as: was Thesmophoriazusae really Aristophanes's best play? Is modern CGI worse than practical effects? Is the Last of Us PTII the worst bastardisation of a loved video game franchise? All this and more with the lads at Quality Control Show; we hope you'll join us for the ride.

Episodes

  1. Episode 45: House of the Dragon Season 3

Season 3 of House of the Dragon is a mixed bag of extreme proportions. It is truly fascinating how the writers came up with some of the worst and best moments of the show to date in a single season. Personally, House of the Dragon has been one of my favorite shows to review, because it rides the...

  2. Episode 44: Spiderman Brand New Day

During a time when the MCU has struggled, this was Marvel's chance to let Tom Holland shine as a Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman. We desperately wanted to get the canonical spiderman experience; a Peter Parker that is broke, unnoticed by MJ, and overcoming impossible odds while attempting to...

  3. Episode 43: Chistopher Nolan's "The Odyssey"

Christopher Nolan's rendition of Homer's "The Odyssey" is a confusing one to say the least. It is a movie plagued by some of the most basic of pitfalls, while simultaneously rendering a depiction of the classic epic that is so beautifully done, that it may never be topped. Beneath the easily...

  4. Episode 42: Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

We aren't here to mince words. Tatsuki Fujimoto is a genius and this movie is peak, so we are going to talk about it. Somewhow the animators at Mappa turned what was otherwise an underwheling arc in the Manga into a cinematic masterpiece that outshines its source material. This movie is a tour de...

  5. Episode 41: Nosferatu

This podcast may have been dead, but in the world of Nosferatu, that doesn't mean much. In this episode the boys drag the quality control show out of its coffin to dust off the cobwebs and discuss a modern classic in the making. Nosferatu shows us that not only is Robert Eggers an incredibly...

  6. Episode 40: The Last of Us

Video games have always been a medium that Hollywood struggled to effectively adapt into a successful show or movie. With fans still reeling from the Halo TV series that was all but a crash landing, hope for a faithfully realized franchise brought to a broader audience was waning. What HBO did…

  7. Episode 39: The Menu, Blade Runner, and The Glass Onion(JK)

I forgot to upload this episode and have no memory of what we talked about. I think maybe Ryan Gosling and the bastardization of the culinary arts by the 1%. I do remember that we didn't talk about The Glass Onion, so our intro is sort of a lie. That episode is coming soon though, please don't...

  8. Episode 38: Avatar: The Way of Water

Avatar: The Way of Water, very much like the popular mean girl in high school, has very little to offer when it comes down to qualities not pertaining to looks. One might even make the argument that Avatar has become the embodiment of this stereotype in the Hollywood ecosystem. Unfortunately…

  9. Episode 37: House of the Dragon

Following the disaster of Game of Thrones: Season 8 we never would have thought that HBO would deign to entertain the production of another IP set within the same universe. 10. Episode 36: Cyberpunk Edgerunners

If you were to tell us a year ago, following Cyberpunks controversial launch that there would be a spinoff anime adaptation we would have called you crazy. If you were to tell us that, unlike the game, it would be absolutely amazing we would have questioned everything. If you were to then have…

  11. Episode 35: Thor Love and Thunder

For a movie that put such an emphasis on jokes, Thor Love and Thunder falls into the trap of becoming a joke itself. Join us as we discuss the tragedy that is Marvel's latest film that seemed too good to fail. All of the pieces for a successful movie were in place, yet the execution simply wasn't...

  13. Episode 33: Everything Everywhere all at Once

Often times the greatest pleasures in the film industry are the ones that take you by surprise. We were very pleasantly surprised by A24's latest film "Everything Everywhere all at Once." 15. Episode 31: Doctor Strange 2

"The Batman" starring Robert Pattinson is a film that has something for everyone. If you like Halo Infinite you're a cuck

  20. Episode 26: Spider-man: No Way Home

Spider-man No Way Home sets a groundbreaking precedent on multiple levels. On one hand Marvel Studios shows a surprising amount of gumption through the bold execution of an ambitious concept. On the other hand, both Zach and I are refreshed to see that Marvel is still capable of producing…
