EP#279 Final Cut: 17 Runs: The Unbeaten Path to Unlock Life's True Potential | Garnet Morris
What does it take for a man to outrun his own ghosts? In this episode of The Quiet Warrior Show, host Tom Dutta sits with Garnet Morris, Canadian entrepreneur, endurance athlete, and author of 17 Runs – The Unbeaten Path to Unlock Life's True Potential. On the surface, Garnet built success in the world of wealth management — a polished professional in tailored suits advising other high-achievers. But beneath that exterior lived a man shaped by deep loss and quiet battles. He lost two siblings to suicide. He once carried an extra 130 pounds and the weight of self-doubt. He admits he was hard to live with, harder to like, and for years he buried pain beneath performance. Then came the runs. Seventeen of them. Each one a ritual of reckoning. Each one a mile closer to forgiveness. Through running, Garnet began to shed not only weight, but shame, anger, and the story he'd been living under. What emerged was not perfection — but peace. This conversation goes beyond success and into the unseen terrain of grief, endurance, mental health, and leadership. It is a story of breaking, rebuilding, and learning to run toward your own truth. 🎧 This is the first-time audio release of this conversation. 📅 Podcast Premiere: Wednesday, February 11, 2026 📡 Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts, and wherever podcasts are heard. 🔔 Follow, subscribe, and share to support independent conversations that matter. #QuietWarriorShow #GarnetMorris #17Runs #MentalHealth #Resilience #Leadership #Healing #Endurance #PersonalGrowth #Authenticity #PodcastPremiere

PREMIERE: The Truth He Buried: John Krotec's Fight Back From Silence
📝 EPISODE DESCRIPTION What does it take to reclaim truth in a world built on noise? And what does it cost a man to carry stories he never asked for? In this powerful FINAL CUT episode of The Quiet Warrior Show, host Tom Dutta sits down with John Krotec — U.S. Army veteran, founder of NeoMasculinity Solutions, and author of The Sentinel Handbook — for a conversation that goes far beyond surface-level success. John's journey spans military life, high-altitude expeditions, building an eleven-million-dollar business before the internet, and surviving a traumatic brain injury that unearthed long-buried memories of physical trauma, violation, and silence. Rather than run from the truth, John chose to face it — and transform it into clarity, agency, and leadership. This episode explores identity, emotional resilience, self-leadership, and what it truly means to reclaim your story in a chaotic world. It's not about performance or polish. It's about courage, responsibility, and the quiet strength required to live in truth. This is The Quiet Warrior Show — where real conversations create real transformation. 🎙️ Now streaming across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, and all major podcast platforms.

EP#277 BEYOND POLITICS: Life Lessons and Stories with Former Premier Mike Harcourt
Over the span of his illustrious career, Mike began by starting the first storefront law office in Canada, and establishing the UBC law school legal advice clinic (1968-71). He then went on to serve for four terms as a Vancouver Alderman (1972-980), until he became a tremendously successful and articulate Mayor of Vancouver for three terms (1980-1986). In that position he played a prominent role in establishing Vancouver as one of the world's most livable cities through effective land use and planning. Mike then moved on to serve as the 30th Premier of British Columbia (1991-1996), where he extended the boundaries of quality of life in urban areas, with the 1995 Growth Strategy Act. Among his many noteworthy achievements at that time was his success in safeguarding more than 12 percent of the province's land base, establishing 500 new protected areas. After retiring from politics, Mike made headlines in 2002, when a devastating six-metre fall left him partially paralyzed. He has shown incredible physical, emotional and spiritual strength in his remarkable recovery, and published a book about his ordeal called Plan B – One Man's Journey from Tragedy to Triumph. Following his accident, Mike became actively involved in spinal cord research and education, working with the Rick Hansen Man in Motion Foundation on International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (I-CORD) and chairing the Spinal Cord Injury Quality of Life Advisory Group. As a self-described "recovering politician," Mike was appointed Federal Commissioner on the British Columbia Treaty Commission in 2003. He has always been an avid supporter of aboriginal economic development, and his commitment to the treaty process is long-standing; as Premier in 1992, he signed the agreement establishing the Commission – the neutral body responsible for facilitating treaty negotiations among the governments of Canada, B.C. and First Nations in B.C. In recognition of Mike's exceptional community contributions, Simon Fraser University presented Mike with the 2019 President's Distinguished Community Leadership Award.

Beyond Vision: Finding Light in Darkness Victoria Nolan: Canadian Paralympian, Rio Bronze Medalist, World Champion, Author, Speaker
This Final Cut Premiere presents the full, uncut conversation between Tom Dutta and Canadian Paralympian and world champion rower Victoria Nolan. This is the first time this conversation is being released as an audio podcast. Victoria's journey began with a diagnosis of Retinitis Pigmentosa at 18. The slow loss of sight reshaped her personal and professional life and created moments of fear, doubt, and isolation. She was told she had no future as a teacher and that blindness would define her possibilities. Instead, she discovered rowing, and everything changed. She rose from fear to world-class competition, breaking a world record, earning eight international medals, and becoming one of Canada's most inspiring voices on courage and belonging. Victoria is now a national leader, speaker, and advocate. Her story blends lived experience, high-performance sport, and a deep commitment to helping others navigate change and adversity. This uncut episode explores • the emotional landscape of losing sight • how adversity became a doorway to possibility • rowing as a place of healing and empowerment • motherhood and identity during vision loss • the culture of elite sport and vulnerable leadership • systemic barriers and invisible societal expectations • the global conversation on blindness and hope • the next chapter Victoria has yet to write This Final Cut is exactly as the conversation occurred, raw, real, and technically mastered only for audio clarity. #QuietWarriorShow #TomDutta #VictoriaNolan #BeyondVision #Resilience #Leadership #Courage #Paralympics #BlindnessAwareness #UncutConversation #HumanSpirit

EP#274 LIFE IN THE PITS with Brad Schaeffer, The Final Cut Premiere
Step inside the legendary exchange floors of Chicago and New York through the eyes of author and former trader Brad Schaeffer. In this riveting conversation with Tom Dutta, Brad relives his journey from a young artist with a knack for numbers to a seasoned trader in one of the most cut-throat environments ever known. His book Life in the Pits is both memoir and mirror, a tribute to an era when markets were moved by shouts and heartbeats, not algorithms. But it's also a reflection on life's real markets: risk, loss, redemption, and meaning. Tom and Brad discuss how grief and discipline intertwine, how the instincts that drive us in competition can also teach compassion, and why stories of the past still inform how we lead today. An essential listen for anyone drawn to finance, psychology, or the art of staying grounded when the world starts shouting. 🎙️ Host: Tom Dutta, Executive Producer of The Quiet Warrior Show📖 Guest: Brad Schaeffer, Author, Trader, Musician #QuietWarriorShow #LifeInThePits #BradSchaeffer #Finance #Leadership #Resilience #Courage #Storytelling #Podcast #FinalCut #Premiere #HeroJourney #Trading #HumanSpirit

EP#273 The Backstories And The Worlds Within: W. (Walter) B.J. Williams
🎧 AUDIO DEBUT What happens when a man who should have been decapitated becomes a bestselling author, InfoSec executive, and guide through hell? W.B.J. Williams survived August 5, 1986, barely. Half a ton of plywood, a concrete floor, and a steel table saw that bent instead of beheading him. Today he lives with a hole in his spine and constant debilitating pain. He's also the published author of five books, including the darkly comedic "Johnny Talon and the Goddess of Love and War," which weaves Sumerian mythology with addiction recovery. This isn't a typical author interview. It's a journey through Plato's Garden—Tom Dutta's signature framework exploring how macro forces, industry trends, and personal trauma shape public works. You'll hear: • The harrowing details of Walt's 1986 accident and 40-year journey with chronic pain • How he met his wife one month after the accident, while using a walker, and they've been together 33 years • Why his father's battle with alcoholism shaped his novel about addiction and the Goddess of Love • How his father became the first ordained deacon in his diocese after losing Walt's sister to SIDS • The profound challenge of Jesus's teaching: "Love your enemies, not just your neighbours" • Why Walt writes about broken prostitutes, addicts, and goddesses seeking redemption • How he balances demanding InfoSec work (never experiencing ransomware or breach) with writing fantasy epics • The journey from writing poetry at age 12 to becoming an Amazon Breakthrough Novel semi-finalist • Why Hollywood producers are shopping "The Garden at the Roof of the World" for a three-season TV series • His philosophy: "It's okay to be broken, that's not something to shy away from" Walt's Five Books: Johnny Talon and the Goddess of Love and War (2024) The Reality, Mythology, and Fantasies of Unicorns (2021) How to Create an Information Security Program from Scratch (2021) The Garden at the Roof of the World (2013) Security for Service Oriented Architectures (2014) This conversation explores addiction, faith, resilience, authenticity, and the grace found in brokenness. From Catholic mysticism to Sumerian goddesses, from chronic pain to darkly comedic fiction, Walt proves our deepest wounds become our greatest gifts. Trigger Warning: Frank discussions of addiction, suicidal ideation, chronic pain, and childhood trauma. First-time audio release of this transformative conversation.

EP#253 Not Less Than Everything One Mans Search For Spiritual Enlightenment
Revealing his new book Not Less Than Everything: One Man's Quest for Spiritual Enlightenment, published by Clovercroft Published September 26, 2023), August Turak reveals his stories as a member of the original team that launched MTV: Music Television and a successful hi-tech entrepreneur, Turak had what most people consider to be "the life." But he was not happy. This is the inspirational true story of how Turak overcame crippling depression and despair through a daring quest for life's ultimate meaning and purpose -- a search for transcendence. Although his stories are wildly entertaining and often comical, Turak wishes to address the individual and collective absence of higher meaning and purpose afflicting Western civilization. He hopes this book acts, in some small way, as an antidote to that. AUGUST TURAK is a successful corporate executive, entrepreneur, award-winning author, speaker, and consultant. He is the founder of the educational nonprofit the Self Knowledge Symposium Foundation. Turak has lived and worked alongside the Trappist monks of Mepkin Abbey as a frequent monastic guest since 1996. As a troubled young college student in 1971, Turak was seized by the idea that the mystical experience that various religious traditions call Enlightenment, Satori, Nirvana, Samadhi, the Unio Mystica, or Cosmic Consciousness not only exists but might be attainable by him. This sparked a life-altering quest, as Turak became the first student of a rough-hewn, hillbilly Zen master; the protégé of the founder of the IBM Executive School; the client of a mystical psychologist doing government-funded research with LSD; a member of the original team that launched MTV: Music Television; a successful hi-tech entrepreneur and even a longtime, part-time Trappist monk. This same spiritual roller coaster dropped him off twenty-five years later in a tiny room of a rundown motel in Baltimore, Maryland, deeply depressed, fearing for his sanity, and with nowhere to turn. Or, so it seemed. After a corporate career with companies like MTV, Turak founded two highly successful software businesses. He has published many popular leadership articles for Forbes and featured in the Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Selling Magazine, the New York Times, and BusinessWeek. His book, Business Secrets of the Trappist Monks, uses 1000 years of Trappist business success and his own entrepreneurial experience to demonstrate that the monks are not successful businessmen despite adhering to only the highest ethical values, but because they do. Turak's inspirational true story, Brother John: A Monk, a Pilgrim, and the Purpose of Life, combines his $100,000 Templeton Prize-winning story with original oil paintings from award-winning artist Glenn Harrington. August Turak lives on a seventy-five-acre cattle farm outside Raleigh, NC. For more information, visit: www.AugustTurak.com.

EP#252 The Turning of the Circle Embracing Natures Wisdom for Purposeful Living REINO GEVERS
Reino Gevers is a seasoned pilgrim who has walked twelve different Camino pilgrimage routes in northwestern Spain. His journey began after hitting a wall in his over 20-year journalism career, prompting a complete reinvention of himself. His first book, "Walking on Edge," is a fictional narrative drawn from his personal experiences on the Camino. His latest non-fiction work, "Deep Walking – for Body, Mind, and Soul," captures crucial lessons from the Camino, distilled from interviews and conversations with hundreds of fellow pilgrims and he now reveals his new book The Turning of the Circle. Reino now dedicates much of his time to workshops, speaking tours, corporate health counseling, and mentoring leaders and achievers. Residing on the island of Majorca, he enjoys hiking, practicing martial arts, writing, and blogging in his free time. Reino believes it is our destiny as human beings to grow and become who we are truly meant to be. Life is not meant to be an easy ride. Trigger points such as divorce, the loss of a loved one, or financial ruin can elevate you to higher consciousness or leave you stagnating in melancholy. Our true calling often lies in the wounds of the past, sculpting us into the human beings we are destined to become. Reflecting on the past, it's clear how overcoming pain and obstacles equips us to fulfill our divine purpose. As an author and mentor, Reino aims to provide the tools that have helped him navigate life's challenges. Many of his insights came from long, solitary walks on the Camino de Santiago. In retrospect, those moments were among the most precious. The role of a mentor, he believes, is to guide, hold to account, and listen. If you feel a deep desire to grow, learn, and achieve financial independence, health, and strength, Reino may be able to assist you. His mentoring program focuses on finding soul purpose, building resilience, and mind-setting. Reino holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of South Africa and has been a trainer for leaders and achievers for the past ten years. He is the author of several books, including "Deep Walking for Body, Mind, and Soul," "Walking on Edge: A Pilgrimage to Santiago," and "Yield and Overcome: How Change Can Positively Impact Our Lives." Having experienced hitting the wall and finding the reset button to change his life's trajectory, Reino left South Africa at 23 to start a new life in Europe. He did it again ten years ago, leaving a well-paid job to start his own business from scratch. The brink of job burnout led him to his first Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, which changed his life. He has since walked the Camino twelve times and incorporates an annual pilgrimage into his life.

EP#248 The 12 STEP Pathway: A Heroic Journey Michael Cowl Gordon MD, Author, Redeemer
Host Tom A. Dutta asked Michael Cowl Gordon to write why he should be on The Quiet Warrior Show. Micha poured onto his paper a page and a half of writing, and the latter was this: "I believe that my story illustrates the heroic journey. Joseph Campbell wrote that the purpose of the heroic journey is to redeem the world. While that would be overstating my accomplishments, I believe it is true that I have helped thousands of patients through my direct involvement in their care. I have helped hundreds of people through mutual involvement in twelve-step recovery. And with this book, I can help thousands more. I believe my story will interest your listeners. I hope many will be encouraged to see how their lives can represent a heroic journey as they respond to whatever challenges they encounter." I may have written too much, as my instructions were to write a paragraph. If so, I apologize. I hope to be a guest on your podcast, where I can tell the story of recovery as a heroic journey. Thank you. Michael Cowl Gordon, MD Join Tom and Michael as he tells the rest of the story and takes your questions or comments via live chat. EPP#244 Mid-Flight: Not Just Provocative Storytelling
When Host Tom Dutta asked Lisa Wilkes about her back story before the interview, she said, "During early adolescence, I developed an eating disorder. I'd been a perfectionist my whole life. Still, that quest for so-called flawlessness has a dark side, especially for women under intense societal pressure to portray a particular image. I knew I was damaging my body, but the addictive side of my brain did not care. Maybe that was subconsciously part of my goal. I found healing through a deep connection to people and animals. It took me over a decade to get to a healthy weight, so I won't pretend this was an easy problem to fix. Therapy helped because it offered a nonjudgmental space where I could be honest instead of minimizing everything or pretending I was okay. Friendships helped. I turned to friends and family, baring my soul even when that was scary as hell. The first time I confided in a close friend, my hands trembled, and sweat dripped. It was so embarrassing to have this psychological aversion to something as simple and necessary as food. I felt like a failure, but all I received from my buddy was love. She didn't see me as a freak. She viewed me as a brilliant human trying hard to get back on track. And that made me believe maybe, just maybe, I was not beyond hope. Lisa Wilkes is an American author, licensed social worker (LMSW), flight attendant, and animal rescuer. Lisa has spent 13 years in the aviation industry, jetting across the globe and collecting inspiration for her writings. Her debut novel, Flight Path, is a fast-paced romance with serendipitous encounters. This book follows a daydreaming stewardess as she learns to navigate a new terrain: unconditional love. In her second novel, Mid-Flight, Lisa transports readers to 2038. A flight attendant begins to unravel after her best friend is killed in a plane crash. In the throes of unspeakable grief, she uncovers a political ploy to decimate one-fifth of the population. She must risk everything to combat this sinister plan, including her breathtaking new romance. Lisa's writing is provocative and timely, focusing on societal issues and internal conflict. Flight Path's readers will appreciate Mid-Flight's emphasis on hope and redemption, while newcomers to Lisa's work will be drawn to the power of her storytelling.

EP#243 Life Strife Shaped Me Dr. Amin Sanaia
Like many of you, I'm no stranger to hardship. As a child, I was forced to migrate with my family from the Dominican Republic to New York City, where we faced seemingly endless adversity. My parents were both professionals in the Dominican Republic. In New York, my father worked as a floor technician and my mom in a sweat shop. My father had an accident and became disabled for life. It was only my mom working and we couldn't make ends meet. Some nights we didn't have dinner; my late brother and myself had to go to work as children. This period of time has shaped my life. I am driven to be successful because I promised myself that my family will never experience this again. Between language barriers and culture shock, I found it difficult to find my footing in such a foreign place and yearned for well-intentioned guidance. I worked hard in school and did very well. I started a career in healthcare as an executive. I yearned to impact people's lives in a positive manner everyday. I continued my education and obtain a Masters in Healthcare Administration and now a Doctorate in Leadership. I just published my first book focusing on Leadership Attributes CRAVE (Communication, Respect, Authenticity, Vulnerability and Empathy). After leading hundreds of teams, I found that these attributes are vital for creating great leaders and successful teams. I now coach, train, consult and speak on leadership and leadership development. I have a coaching program designated towards leaders that I provide to individuals and organizations.

EP#236 Strategies for a DRAMA FREE Workplace Leslee Montgomery
Leslee Montgomery is a sought-after facilitator, public speaker, content creator and consultant to the Construction Industry on Safety and Mental Health. What makes her story different from anyone else's, and why is she working in a male-dominated industry?: When Host Tom Dutta asked Leslee why listeners should tune in to her story, she wrote, "In 2010, when I decided to take my life, I was terrified but so focused on finding a way. The 2008 recession had kicked my ass; mentally, I was down and scared. A call to a colleague looking for work resulted in "leaving it to the universe," setting off a decision in my head to take my life. While eating my last meal, the universe did call with a job offer. That moment became more than getting back to work; it became the moment I understood my purpose. There aren't too many living heroes in the construction industry. It became my mission positively affect the mental health of the people I worked with. I started to listen to people, connect with them, support them, and it grew into a mission to eradicate suicide in the construction industry."

EP#235 Stepping Stone A romance journey of love, suspense, sexual healing, sexual awakening, and healing with Liv Arnold Romance Author
Liv Arnold is an author of colour writing diverse books on real issues like mental health and consent. Like many women, she has experienced sexual harassment which has affected her well-being. "I want to do right by my readers and show what is and is not acceptable. Enough people are silenced through shame, society's perceptions, and sexism. There's not enough awareness of mental health. I have found peace through prose," Ms. Arnold says. As she has experienced anxiety most of her life, she will donate a percentage of the profits of her upcoming novel Stepping Stone (release date 11 July 2022) to The Anxiety and Depression Association of America. She turned to writing for therapy when medication, meditation, and counselling didn't improve her symptoms. The novel's main male character has PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Ms. Arnold drew the challenges from real life and was inspired by a friend who served in Afghanistan. She writes authentic characters with relatable issues, championing the heroine taking control of her life and sexuality.

EP#234 My Survival Mode to Financial Freedom Zeona McIntyre
My hero's journey started when my mom was diagnosed with cancer and then passed away, two years later, when I was 28. I lost my sole provider parent. This was right around the same time that I found Airbnb (renting out my extra rooms) as a side hustle which was leading me into a life of financial independence, that I didn't realize at the time but it would change the trajectory of my life. Now, I feel very strongly about teaching others about how they can achieve financial independence so that we can become free to focus on the things we truly value in our lives, and not have to be in survival mode. From 50k in debt to Financially Free in 2 years with Airbnb! Zeona McIntyre has been an Airbnb host since 2012. After 10 years of managing short-term rentals across the globe, she has transitioned to selling Real Estate to investors looking to house hack or live for free. She is an avid Real Estate Investor owning a double-digit portfolio of short and medium-term rentals. In the fall of 2022, she will release the book: "30-Day Stay.
