We're back! And we would like to say, thank you. Thank you for 19 years of support!  Erik and Doug catch up for an impromptu episode. Things have been busy but getting back together to talk feels great! And we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Music, movies, old stories, and so much more!  We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on August 8, 2024. We start off the show with a little movie trivia. What movie opened in August of 1986? We get into the answer and we also talk about movie trivia in the work place as an ice breaker of sorts. From there, we jump into the recent release of, Batman: The Caped Crusader on Amazon Prime Video. Headed up by Showrunner, Bruce Timm (who previously worked on Batman: The Animated Series) along with Producers, J. J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, Ed Brubaker, and James Tucker. The show, developed by Warner Bros. Animated but licensed to Amazon Prime Video depicts a re-imagined Gotham City with The Batman early in his crime fighting career. We also get in some more Deadpool and Wolverine talk as Doug got a chance to watch the film and we get to hear his take on it. All of this and so much more! We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on August 1, 2024. On this episode, we talk about the recent theater release of, Deadpool and Wolverine. After a recent string of misses in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Disney we get a breath of fresh air mixed with comedy, action, and fan service. Did you catch Deadpool and Wolverine in the theaters? We also go over some of the announcements from San Diego Comic Con and Marvel's Hall H panel. New titles have been added to their release slate with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret War. Oh, and Robert Downey Jr. will be returning as the MCU's, Doctor Doom. There is also some brief news of AEW President, Tony Kahn meeting with Shane McMahon. We recently lost Shannon Doherty (American actress known for her work in Heathers (1989); Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990–1994), Mallrats (1995); and Charmed (1998–2001)), Dr. Ruth Westheimer (German and American sex therapist and talk show host.), Richard Simmons (American fitness instructor and television personality.), Bob Newhart (American comedian and actor.), and Shelley Duvall (American actress and producer known for her work in Popeye (1980), The Shining (1980), Time Bandits (1981), Tim Burton's short comedy horror film Frankenweenie (1984), and Fred Schepisi's comedy film Roxanne (1987).) We also talk about some rumors and theories regarding the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. (This episode was recorded during the first day of San Diego Comic Con and at the time we avoided a lot of the rumors and spoilers surrounding the release of the movie.) *Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on July 18th.   We jump into some movie trailers for two upcoming films. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Alien Romulus. (Both films have long since released. More on those in later episodes.) Both films are sequels to older popular films. Beetlejuice (1988) and Alien (1979), respectively. This begs the question, do we need sequels years, sometimes years later?  We also get some Professional Wrestling Talk in as we look at the G1 Climax from New Japan Pro Wrestling. *Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on June 27th. Donald McNichol Sutherland (aged 88) was a Canadian actor. With a career spanning six decades, Mr. Sutherland received numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards as well as a BAFTA Award nomination. He is more recently rememberd for his role as, President Snow in The Hunger Games Franchise (2012-2015). Other notable roles in film and TV: The Dirty Dozen (1967), M*A*S*H (1970), and Kelly's Heroes (1970). He subsequently appeared in many leading and supporting roles, including Animal House (1978), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), JFK (1991), Six Degrees of Separation (1993), Without Limits (1998), and Pride & Prejudice (2005). We discuss the recent news of more delays slowing down the production on Blade and his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has been five years since the announcement of the film and Mahershala Ali as the titular character. What will it take to make this film happen? We also talk about actors getting typecast and how they might struggle finding different roles. In particular, Jim Varney or as the audience might know him, Ernest P. Worrell. As Ernest he had a string of comedic hits. But could he have been a more dramatic actor? All of this and so much more! We are The Rabblecast!

From there we go into discussions about Mike Tyson and how he reignited his ego for his upcoming bouts, fun stories about the Rocky films and how Sylvester Stallone got the ball rolling for the franchise. Somehow we veer into, The Walking Dead and how bleak it would be to live in a zombie infested world. Which brings up the show, Naked and Afraid. But we don't stop there. No. We go into Doug's recent trip to the Mahoning Drive-In in Pennsylvania and how they're going to do a screening of, The Crow(1994) for the 30th anniversary. And from there... you know what? *Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on June 6th. On this episode, we get into an odd discussion regarding State and Federal laws regarding the use of recreational cannabis. More specifically, if you have to take a drug test for a new job opportunity. Does the use of recreational cannabis disqualify you from a potential new job? Hernandez had the good fortune of watching, The Iron Claw(2023) from A24 Films. Starring Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Harris Dickinson. The film loosely tells the story of the Von Erichs, a family of professional wrestlers who are "cursed" by tragedy. Written and Directed by Sean Durkin. Doug recently hit the theaters and watched, In a Violent Nature(2024) from IFC Films. Starring Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, and Lauren-Marie Taylor. Described as an "ambient slasher", it follows a mute killer who is accidentally resurrected from his grave in the Ontario wilderness by a group of teenagers, whom he then begins stalking and murdering. Written and Directed by Chris Nash. We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on May 30th. We start off the episode with some bad accents. I mean, really bad. But that leads us down a rabbit hole of X-Men movie history discussions. More specifically, we find out which iteration of Juggernaut that Doug enjoys most! Hernandez talk about his trip to the theaters to catch the 40th Anniversary celebrations of The Transformers on the big screen. (Not to be confused with the Transformers: The Movie Anniversary which is coming up in August.) Last but not least, we talk about the 2022 Australian supernatrual horror film, Talk To Me. Directed by Danny and Michael Philippou in their feature directorial debuts.  We are The Rabblecast!

We delve into the history that led up to the formation of this new company for the beloved slasher franchise. Staying on the topic of horror, Doug mentions a movie he is looking forward to watching. In a Violent Nature (Which by now has been released and we will touch upon in a later episode) written and directed by, Chris Nash. Released by IFC Films. We also take a further look at X-Men '97 since the first season has wrapped up on Disney+. Worry not, we stay spoiler free for those of you who have yet to watch an episode. *Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on May 2nd. We start the show with a story out of left field. Hernandez brings us the tale of one, Georgia Tann. Tann was an American social worker and child trafficker who operated the Tennessee Children's Home Society, an unlicensed adoption agency in Memphis, Tennessee. Her operation ran from the 1920's until to 1950. One of her countless victims includes a wrestling legend, Ric Flair. We also share some stories about recent workout adventures. From power lifting to martial arts, we share some personal experiences. Then, Doug shares his thoughts on a movie. Late Night with the Devil (2023) starring: David Dastmalchian, Laura Gordon, and Ian Bliss. The supernatrual horror film depicts what happens when a late night talk show invites a former cult member onto the show to talk about their experiences. We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on April 25th. Fallout, the popular role playing game from, Bethesda has become a series on Amazon Prime Video! Hernandez takes the dive into the wastelands and relays most of what he found to Doug. We try not to spoil any big story points in the series but we do know that the second season of the show will be heading to a popular in-game location. New Vegas, baby! We also touch upon the recently release, Road House. Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, and Conor McGregor(making his film debut). Does it live up to the original Patrick Swayze film? Maybe the better question is, does it have to live up to the original? From there we also dive into the film work of, John McTiernan. Nomads, Die Hard, Predator, Medicine Man, The Last Action Hero, and many others. This part of the conversation was inspired by a podcast called, Blank Check. A show that looks at the filmography of successful directors in Hollywood and how their careers turn out after some success and some failures. We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on April 18th. Reboots, reboots, reboots! It seems that movie studios love to raid the toy chest when it comes to making new films out of existing franchises. Transformers One is the latest entry into the Transformers franchise from Hasbro and Paramount Animation. Starring the voice talents of: Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry as D-16/Megatron, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, and Keegan-Michael Key as B-127/Bumblebee.  With the recent trailer we can clearly see that the movie is aimed at a younger audience. Just like other popular intellectual properties, we get a new retelling of the lore for a new generation. But, how will the older fan base react to it? We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on April 11th. Finally... we get to talk about WWE's, Wrestlemania 40! Professional wrestling's largest show of the year, the "Stage of the Immortals", "Where it all begins..." You get the idea. With all of the recent news surrounding WWE as a company it has been interesting to see just how management has been able to navigate the troubled waters they have been going through. This also marks the beginning of a new era for the company after the resignation of, Vince McMahon. We rundown the different matches and go over some of the highlights of both night's of Wrestlemania 40! Who retained their title? Who made cameo appearances? What's next for WWE and their roster? We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on March 28th. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, or any Ghostbusters film for that matter, has a tall order as far as what movie goers expect. Fans will love the film undoubtedly. But this iteration of the extended Ghostbusters lore feels like coming home again. We go over the film itself and do a brief rundown of the past films that led up to this point. Ghostbusters new and old come together to fend off a new threat to New York and the world. We also delve into older movies, the other show that Doug does with friends(Wings on Wings Podcast), lottery tips, and show memories! We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on March 21th. X-Men '97 has hit Disney+ and everyone is talking about the return of the X-Men animated series, and what this could mean for Xavier's Mutants going forward. Could this incarnation of the animated launch the X-Men into the MCU, much like how the original series helped to usher the merry mutants into live-action? We also touch upon the release of, Beau DeMayo (Writer, Creator, and Producer of the series). The news of DeMayo's release came a week before the debut of the series on Disney+ and shortly before the premier screening. No real reason has been given at this time.  We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on March 14th. At the end of February we got our first look at images from, The Crow starring, Bill Skarsgård. Now we have the pleasure of viewing the first trailer for this upcoming film! We give our thoughts on the brief glimpse of the film and continue the debate about reboots/remakes in Hollywood. Who would have thought that a story from a long time ago and a galaxy far far away would still be able to entertain newer generations. That is exactly what happens when, Hernandez shares the early Star Wars films with his son and it ignites his imagination with droids, star battles, and light sabers. We also talk about upcoming films: Dune 2 and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire(keep in mind this episode was recorded in early March). We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on February 29th. On this episode we talk about the passing of two individuals that contributed to the world of Professional Wrestling. Alan Robert Rogowski (aged 81), better known by the ring name Ole Anderson, was an American professional wrestler, booker, and promoter. Ole Anderson was also a co-founder of, The Four Horsemen in World Championship Wrestling(WCW). Michael Charles Jones (aged 72), better known by his ring name Virgil, was an American professional wrestler and actor. He is best known for his eight-year tenure in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), primarily as Ted DiBiase's personal assistant. We also talk about the first released images from the upcoming reboot of, The Crow starring, Bill Skarsgård. (This recording was done before the first trailer was released.) We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on February 15th. Spring is almost upon us and with that comes all of the new content as far as shows, movies, and other media. On this episode, we talk about the return of the animated X-Men series! Set as a continuation to the original animated series that aired on Fox Kids! X-Men '97 will stream on Disney+ and the recent trailer release gives us a glimpse of some of the changes being made to update the show as it is to air on March 20th! We also talk about the casting announcement surrounding the new, Fantastic Four film that has been set for July 25, 2025! Back in February it was made public that, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will make up the main cast as they bring Marvel's first family to the MCU! In other news, Robert Kirkman's Invincible makes its return to Amazon Prime Video with the second half of season two on March 14th! The series stars Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, and J. K. Simmons as the Grayson family, while the rest of the cast serve as recurring characters. All of this and so much more! We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on February 8th. The Road to Wrestlemania has begun! And with that, the wild speculation has also started to make its rounds all over the internet! Between now and Wrestlemania, WWE has to come up with the logistics to make the right matches for the fans. Who's in control of booking? Paul "Triple H" Levesque? Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson? Or, TKO (the new parent company of the WWE)? We give our thoughts, theories and general ideas of what will happen come April. We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on January 25th. The WWE has cause to celebrate with the recent news of their deal with Netflix. Starting in 2025, Netflix will become the host of WWE's Monday Night RAW! The deal is structured for ten years with different options in place for Netflix to extend or cut the deal short.  On the heels of that news, Dwayne Johnson also has cause to celebrate. Mr. Johnson was named as one of the board members for TKO (the parent company of the UFC and WWE). With that, he has also regained full control of his moniker, "The Rock". We give our thoughts on the outcome of the, Royal Rumble 2024 (Better late than never.). And we also go over the horrendous news about the, Vince McMahon allegations and how the new owners of the WWE will handle the situation going forward. We are The Rabblecast!

*Show Note: This episode was originally recorded on January 18th.  Remember going to the store and buying your first music album? How about a movie? When was the last time you bought a new release in a brick and mortar location rather than downloading it or streaming it online? On this episode we talk about owning the things that we buy with our hard earned money. We also go on to discuss how the subscription model has become prevalant in many areas of our lives.  We are The Rabblecast!

A while ago, we recorded movie commentary tracks for a couple of titles that we enjoy very much. The Crow (1994) Starring, Brandon Lee and Directed by, Alex Proyas and Blade (1998) Starring, Wesley Snipes and Directed by, Stephen Norrington. The conversation about the commentary tracks came up because, Doug mentioned that this year marks the 30th Anniversary of the release of, The Crow. With that, we go over some of the details of each film and talk about the potential to do some other tracks for other films down the line. Erik recently read the limited comic series, Girls by Jonathan and Joshua Luna, published by Image Comics between 2005 and 2007. The book is a story of the people of Pennystown, a community of 63 who are cut off from the rest of the world and attacked by a group of naked, flesh eating, egg-laying women, as well as other bizarre dangers. Erik gives a run down of the comic and gets, Doug's reaction to various story points. We are The Rabblecast!

What are you thankful for? With the holiday quickly approaching, we take a moment to talk about Thanksgiving and what we may or may not be thankful for. We get into some deep territory regarding our own personal lives and how those differ. Ultimately, we look at how we use the "good and the bad" in our daily lives to our advantage. From there, we jump over to the recent news regarding Marvel Studios! A certain segment of fandom is saying it's over for Marvel Studios. Hero fatigue is a thing and people are tired of Superhero movies! Others are taking a wait and see approach. We go over some of the different news pieces and give our thoughts and opinions. What are your thoughts regarding the recent Marvel Studio news? We are The Rabblecast!

Halloween has come and gone! Treats were handed out, tricks were played, and now it's time for all the crazy lawn decorations to get put aways until the next Halloween. What did you do for Halloween? Hernandez went out with the family and did the traditional Trick-or-Treating thing. Doug, went to a club (more on that when you listen to the episode). All in all, it was a fun time. And, for those of you that enjoyed the month of movies. Doug shares with us his "bonus round"! Seven additional movies added to his 31 Movies in 31 Nights! We are The Rabblecast!

As the first episode for the month of October we delve right into horror movies! More specifically, 31 Movies in 31 Nights! For anyone new to the challenge, you choose 31 different horror or Halloween movies to watch during the month of October! Doug shares his early picks as he embarks on the challenge. While going through the different films, we also take a look at some of the different films that terrified us as kids. One of which was, Zombie directed by Lucio Fulci. The cover of the film alone left a lasting mark on Erik's brain. Other films talked about: Dolls, Re-Animator, The Serpent and The Rainbow, Scream, and more! From there we talk about different films and just how the horror movie genre continues to evolve in the film industry! We are The Rabblecast!

Oversharing on social media... Look, we've all done it. Name games, what does your birthday say about you?, which Kobra Kai character are you. A little advice, someone is gathering that info. We're not saying don't have fun. Maybe, don't share it publicly? The Writer's Guild of America (WGA) has struck a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP)! This essentially ends the 148 day strike as writers have already returned to work as of Wednesday September 27th. Hopefully the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG-AFTRA) can do the same! To round the out the show, we get into a few recommendations. Ashoka on Disney+, Cyberpunk 2077 the game, Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners on Netflix, Friday the 13th the game, and a few others here and there. We are The Rabblecast!

In April of 2023, the WWE made a deal with Endeavour Group Holdings (owners of Zuffa, which holds the UFC). The deal would culminate in a new company, TKO Group Holdings a new public company majority-owned by Endeavor, with Vince McMahon serving as executive chairman of the new entity, and Nick Khan becoming president. The merger was completed on September 12, 2023. This marks the end of the "McMahon Era" and begins a new point in the history of the WWE and the world of Professional Wrestling. With the new deal and owners in place for the WWE could a potential CM Punk return be in the cards? After an akward exit from AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and no set destination, the rumor mill is already swirling. Is CM Punk done with Professional Wrestling? Or does he have one last run on the horizon? All of this and much more! We are The Rabblecast!

The summer season is coming to a close but the "Summer of Labor" is still in full effect. We touch upon the recent story about some shows attempting to resume production, in particular the, Drew Barrymore Show. (As of this recording, Drew Barrymore and other shows attempting to return to production have since reversed their decisions and are abiding by WGA and SAG/AFTRA guidelines for the current Hollywood Strike). The United Auto Workers (UAW) have also decided to go on strike. This strike will affect the production of three major automobile makers in the United States: Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Stellantis. This strike will take a different approach as the Union leaders implement a Stand Up Strike. The idea being to inflict ongoing disruption to production by calling on different regions to strike at different times. More on this as it develops. We also talk about the news of a new reboot/remake of, The Crow (starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA twigs). Filming has apparently wrapped up about a year ago. The current Hollywood Strike leaves its release in limbo. We talk about the history of the franchise across different media and some of the actors involved in previous installments. From there we find ourselves in the realm of Horror films. Doug tells us a crazy story of how the financial gains of, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a blurred story up until recently. The fairly recent reveal coming from, Joe Bob Briggs (The Last Drive-In, MonsterVision) and how the film production included funding from the Colombo family of the New York Mob. Bob Barker (aged 99) was the host for the longest running game show in North American television history, The Price Is Right. For decades he appeared on television giving countless contestants the opportunity to win fabulous prizes. He was also reminded the viewing audience watching at home to have their pets spayed and neutered. Arleen Sorkin (aged 67) was an American actress, screenwriter, television presenter and comedian. As if that wasn't enough, she is also the real-life inspiration for the DC Comics villain, Harley Quinn, co-created by her friend Paul Dini on Batman: The Animated Series. Whenever a performer in the world of Professional Wrestling passes away, it hits home for each of us in a different way. On this episode we talk about the passing of two very talented individuals in their own right. Terry Funk had a career that spanned more than fifty years. He helped to shape the world of Pro wrestling throughout that time. Whether it was overseas in crazy death matches, or here state side, he loved wrestling and ultimately just wanted to have fun wrestling his friends. Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) was an amazing performer. Formerly known as, Husky Harris, he re-tooled himself into one of the most memorable bad guys that the business has ever known as the leader of the cult-like Wyatt family. And again as, The Fiend. We'll never know what his full potential in the squared circle could have been as he was taken from us way too soon at the age of 36. Both men gave us so much in their own way. As a fan, thank you for entertaining us. Thank you for all that you did for Pro Wrestling. Our condolences to their families. Rest in Peace, gentlemen. We Are The Rabblecast!

We did it, we fulfilled the meme dubbed, #Barbenheimer. Doug caught a viewing of, Oppenheimer and gives us his thoughts on one of the most anticipated films of this summer. Hernandez went in for, Barbie and reacts to one of the most unexpected films of this summer. We also take a look back at the work of one, Mr. Paul Reubens aka Pee-Wee Herman. The actor and comedian was known for, The Pee-Wee Herman Show, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and many other projects.   We are The Rabblecast!

Barbie, Oppenheimer... did you catch them opening weekend? Well, we did not. But that won't stop us from going over their performance at the box office and some of the stories surrounding these films. Doug is set to watch Oppenheimer in the near future. Will Hernandez go to Barbie? Also on this episode, we take quick looks at the upcoming film The Last Voyage of the Demeter (directed by André Øvredal and starring Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, and David Dastmalchian.), Twisted Metal on Peacock streaming, and Marvel's Secret Invasion on Disney+ (SPOILERS for Secret Invasion). We take a look at a relatively older story in, BatmanGate. The story revolves around the legal battle between former DC artist and writer, Chris Wozniak and movie Producer, Michael Uslan. Mr. Wozniak claims that an unused Batman story idea that he had submitted to Mr. Uslan was the basis of the 2022 film, The Batman (directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, and Paul Dano). We go over some of the details involved in this on going story. We also take a trip down memory lane as we recall the 1997 outing of, Spawn (starring, Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, and Martin Sheen). Honorable mention is made to the HBO animated Spawn series that ran for three seasons. And let's not forget the comics label, Image comics, that brought us the character of Spawn to begin with. Looking forward, we talk about the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie again. New story details have leaked and everyone is getting excited about it.
