Unpacking Our Spiritual Upbringings
Now is the season where we’re getting serious about our spiritual lives, but that means taking a look at where the roots were planted. This episode basically encompasses countless hours spent on the couch in Mary Beth’s office over the past few years when we’d come to her seeking advice. We reflect on our upbringing in the faith, our spiritual life before coming to college, and other common denominators Mary Beth has seen in students in her past four years in ministry. ~Reflection Questions~ Looking back, what were you taught growing up about God? The spiritual life? Religion? Spend some time in reflection with the Lord. Are there any wounds from the past that have been surfacing recently? What could the Lord be trying to heal there? What Office character are you? Just kidding. Is there something that has been on your heart lately that you’ve been turning to multiple people to discuss it with? Spend some time sitting with the Lord, whether in front of the Eucharist or a tabernacle, and see if something stirs in your heart. Virtuous Relationships Part 2: Balancing Dating & Friendships
In this episode, we continue talking about virtuous friendships, and relate this to how these strong friendships will prepare us for dating relationships and eventually marriage. We discuss what sacrificial love looks like, and how we can better order our priorities. We also define emotional chastity and dive deeper into what it looks like to see others as Christ sees them rather than selfishly using them. ~Journaling Questions~ For those in a current dating relationship: How is my boyfriend or girlfriend leading me closer to Christ? How can I be more intentional about growing in virtue with them? Do I prioritize my romantic relationship over spending time with my friends? Why is this - is it rooted in pleasure or utility or is it healthy? How might I better balance my priorities? Am I exercising emotional chastity within my relationship? Have we set boundaries (physical, emotional, spiritual) to ensure that we remain rooted in Christ-like love? For all the single ladies (and gents) out there: What do I desire in a dating relationship? How can I prepare now to be the man or woman that I would want my future spouse to date? Am I exercising emotional chastity in my thoughts? If I struggle with this, how might I better avoid the near occasion of sin? What wounds might I want to allow the Lord to heal before I enter a dating relationship? Am I trusting the Lord in this season of singleness?

Virtuous Relationships Part 1: Friendships
Welcome back! In this episode, we’re talking about friendships- what it means to have a Christ-rooted connection with someone, how we can be more intentional about pouring into our friends, and a lot of stories about our own friendship journey. We also explore Biblical ties and how our friendships on Earth reflect those we see in the Bible. ~Journaling Questions~ Take a mental inventory (or on paper) of who I would consider my 1-3 closest friends. Are these friendships leading us closer to Christ? Or are they rooted more in utility or pleasure? Thinking back on the activities that make me feel fully alive- how can I take part in these activities in community or with my friends? Is there a friend who I desire to grow in virtuous friendship with? Reach out to them and plan a little “date” with them soon. ~Prayer~ Father, thank You for the people you have placed in my life. I trust that even though I may not be able to see the purpose for each friendship I have, You have a reason for bringing us together. I pray for these closest friends of mine, that You may strengthen me to lead them closer to Your heart, and that You will give them the grace to do the same for me when I need it. Amen. Living Fully Alive & Reclaiming Our Childlike Hearts
Welcome back friends! In this *chaotic* episode, we have a special guest, one of our amazing FOCUS missionaries- Anna! We’ll be talking about what it means to be fully alive and how we can better dwell in the Father’s love. We talk about vulnerability and wounds when it comes to receiving love as well as the importance of community along this journey to eternity. ~Journaling Questions~ What do I think of when I hear the word “childlike?” Does it have a negative connotation in my mind? If so, why do I think about it this way, and what can I do to fall more fully into the Father’s arms and be dependent on Him like a child? What is keeping me from hoping? Why am I afraid of vulnerability? Lean into the Lord here and ask Him to reveal to you the wounds that have been holding you back from hoping in a more childlike manner. How can I change my perspective on suffering to be something that is purifying me and allowing me to become more fully myself? How can I offer these obstacles up to the Lord, that I may pursue Him without holding back? ~Prayer~ Lord, you see me and you know me. You call me by name each day, even though I don’t always listen. When I am tempted to turn away and follow the world, give me the fortitude to always seek You. When I am afraid to fall into Your arms, remind me that YOU are the one source of true joy. Jesus, help me to live more fully, to live in Your love, to spread Your joy. I am your beloved child, and you are my loving Father. Amen. Surrendering our Productivity to the Lord
Welcome back to The Right Sheep Podcast! In this episode, we’ll discuss what our culture tells us about productivity and success, and how we as Christians are called to live counter-culturally. We invite You to dive deeper with us in glorifying God in our daily lives and receiving His love through trusting in His great plans for us. ~Scripture & References~ John 15:1-11 Diary of St. Faustina, Paragraphs 1682 & 1549 ~Journaling Questions~ How am I glorifying myself in my daily life, and what can I change to better glorify God in all that I do? John 15:5 says, “Apart from me You can do nothing.“ What are the factors or influences in my life that tend to lead me away from a closer relationship with God? What are some things that need to be pruned so that I can bear more fruit in this relationship with Him? What is a desire I have that the Lord may be inviting me to shift my prayers from what I want to what He wants? Spend some time with Him, allowing Him the space to shed light on these parts of your heart. ~Prayer~ Almighty Father, I know that Your mercies are endless and Your plan for my life is so much better than I could ever imagine. Grant me the graces to glorify You in all that I do and trust in Your will, even through the unknowns because You are a good Father who will provide in abundance. Jesus, I love You and I surrender myself to You; take care of everything! Thank You for Your everlasting love- help me receive Your love today and every, day even in my struggles, doubts, and fears. Amen. Be sure to follow us on Instagram for bonus podcast content! https://www.instagram.com/therightsheeppodcast
