Of course while Snoop Dog (or Snoop “Lion” if you will) may actually be sincere, that really isn’t the true point of their ire. Rastafari already have trouble getting people to take them seriously due to the stereotypes, they likely fear a well-known stoner like Snoop Dog representing them will only spread that misperception more widely.This belief, which is a core part of the Rastafari philosophy, was taken up at the inception of the religion. In the early 1900s, Marcus Garvey prophesied that a new black king would soon come to Africa and that man would be the messiah. Not too long after this, in Ethiopia, a new king was crowned and his name was Haile Selassie I. Seeing this as a sign of what was prophesied, the burgeoning Rastafari movement took this man as the second coming of Jesus. However, while most people would not believe in a second coming of the messiah solely based on prophecy, the Rastafarians wouldn’t either. They point to other evidence as well, particularly the claim that Haile Selassie is related to King Solomon, giving him a connection to Jesus. If Haile Selassie I was the messiah. he kept it very quiet. He himself always denied being a reincarnation of Jesus.The Rastafari movement began in Jamaica, where most of the black population had originally been slaves forced from Africa to work. The movement was started as a means of empowerment. As such, it may not be too surprising that Rastafari as a belief system completely rejects the standards and structure of western society. For a people who had been oppressed by Western society and colonialism, the Rastafari movement was a way to claim back their own way of life. By rejecting the “Babylonian” system that was deemed corrupt and oppressive, Rastafari are able to take back their own culture and connect to their roots. As i watch them from outside and above the coop, isee the interplay between the characters. as i introduce new juvinals into the coop i observe. there are cliques and small group alignments. there are independent types and the clueless. they mix and mingle, some with affection towards others while others peck viscously. some mix easily others are found dead by a thousand pecks. yesterday i found a young adolecent with a compound fracture above the knee. i went in the coop and brought the bird into my house. i attempted to place a splint. but the leg was lacerated and bleeding profusely. i realized what had to be done. i plucked the damaged leg above knee. the bird held still with an erie trust in my manuvers. i lit a torch and placed at the ready. taking shears i quickly snipped off the leg at the fracture point, then quickly cauterized the remaining stub in the small blue flame. five seconds or so i feel would do. the bird was calm and stoic throughout this. after i placed a dab of vasoline on the stub. the bird was then placed into his own box so others wouldnt peck at his new injury. i placed food and water in reach of the bird now resting in the straw. in the morning he was still alive. infact he was eating and drinking and appeared at peace.today as i sat meditating my thoughts, i thought that i should feed and water my flock. i was lazy and waited several hours. i saw that the sun was hot today so i thought maybe my birds would need fresh cold water. so i filled thier bowls with clean water after rinsing the gross content inside.i often wonder if I too am a god on a certain level. to my chickens i am a supreme being. i make life or death descions for them every day. i chose who will live and i mend the sick. i bring the rain and i sprinkle manna. they of course do not notice. they are busy being chickens. as thier god, i am thier caretaker and never explain myslef to them. they can only whisper and guess what god may do next. maybe one of them will right a book. a book other chickens might find out the truth of the coop. most are too busy or too stupid to care. i love my chickens either wayThe Rocket Radio Show.
