How IndiAide Helps Patients Actually Do Their Home Exercises with Alyssa Antcliff, M.S., CCC-SLP
If you've ever sent a patient home with a worksheet and then watched it disappear into the black hole of a backpack or a car seat, you already know the problem this episode solves. I'm talking with Alyssa Antcliff, M.S., CCC-SLP, the co-founder of IndiAide, about why home programs fail so often and how a new reimbursement pathway might be sitting right under your nose. What we cover:How IndiAide replaces paper handouts with a simple portal where patients get reminders, mark activities as done, and even send photos or videos so you can check their form between sessionsWhat remote therapeutic monitoring actually is and how it lets you bill for the home program work you're already doingA real breakdown of the numbers, including how a single patient could mean close to twelve hundred dollars in additional reimbursement over a yearHow Alyssa built IndiAide from a grad school project into a research-backed platform now used across 15 to 17 states, including the role her dad played in building the very first versionIf you've got patients who aren't progressing as fast as they should because the home program just isn't sticking, or if you're curious about a reimbursement pathway you might be missing out on, this episode is worth your full attention. How to Connect with AlyssaWebsite: indiaide.com Email: [email protected] Instagram: @indiaide_rtm LinkedIn (Alyssa): linkedin.com/in/alyssa-antcliff LinkedIn (IndiAide): linkedin.com/company/indiaide Facebook: facebook.com/p/IndiAide-61582771767836Alyssa also has a webinar and RTM guide available on the IndiAide website over at www.indiaide.com.Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Revisiting Excuses: The Fear Underneath the Stories We Tell Ourselves
Do you ever catch yourself saying, “I don’t have time,” “I’m not ready yet,” or “I just need one more thing before I start”? Those excuses feel real, but they’re actually protective stories your brain creates to keep you safe and small. And while they might make you feel productive, they’re often the very thing holding you back from the life and business you want.In this episode, I break down the three types of excuses that keep us stuck—protective excuses, disguised priorities, and those tied to self-worth—and share how to spot them in your own life. Then, I’ll walk you through my simple 4-step process to start rewiring those patterns so you can build confidence, take action, and finally move forward. What you’ll hear in this episode:The three types of excuses and how to recognize themWhy your subconscious creates excuses in the first placeHow excuses connect to fear, self-worth, and being seenThe 4 C’s method: Catch it, Challenge it, Change it, Condition itSmall, doable actions that shift you out of excuses and into momentumIf you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to start your practice, launch your product, or go after a big goal, this episode will help you recognize what’s really been stopping you—and give you the tools to take that next step anyway.Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Why Some Private Practices Are Successful (And Others Stay Stuck)
10 years of patterns, all in one episode. If you've ever looked at another practice or business owner and wondered what they're doing differently, this episode is going to give you some real answers. After 10 years of coaching private practice owners and entrepreneurs at every stage of business, I've noticed patterns that have nothing to do with clinical skill or business knowledge or the niche you're in. The patterns of success show up in how people invest in themselves, how they handle the hard moments, and whether they're willing to stay the course when things feel slow. Here's what we get into:Why the way you show up online tells potential clients exactly what it will feel like to work with youThe real reason consistency works, and why doing something once or twice gives you zero data to work withWhat happens when you try to avoid mistakes, or worse, let them erode your self-trust, and why that keeps you playing smallWhy your business can only grow as far as your time and energy allow, and what to do about itWhat it actually looks like to go after your goals without apologizing for themIf you've been wondering why some practices take off while others stay stuck, this episode will give you an honest look at what makes the difference.Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. How to Stop Relying on One Income Stream in Private Practice with Karin Hartunian Koukeyan
What if the leap you've been waiting to take is already happening, whether you're ready or not?In this episode, I'm sitting down with Karin Hartunian Koukeyan, SLP and founder of SpeechFit. Karin spent over 28 years building her clinical career before launching her own practice, and it wasn't a clean, confident jump. It was a layoff that forced her hand, a summer with $0 coming in, and a slow, deliberate build across multiple revenue streams that's still growing today. We talked about the guilt around charging what you're worth, what it actually takes to diversify your income in private practice, and why the seeds you plant right now matter even when nothing is sprouting yet. Here's what we get into:Why a single revenue stream puts your practice at risk, and how Karin structured her time from day one to protect against thatThe money shame that runs deep in the SLP field and what it costs you when you don't work through itWhat happened when Karin sat in the silence after saying her price and why the clients who paused came back readyHow she went from running an accent modification program at her daughter's preschool to landing a school district contract years laterWhy listening to what your community actually needs is the most underrated business strategy in private practiceWhat "don't stay in your lane" looks like in real life, and how Karin built communication coaching and paid speaking into her practice by staying openIf you've been playing it safe, waiting for the right moment, or wondering how to build something that actually fits your life, this conversation will meet you where you are.Connect with our guest KarinWebsite: https://www.speechfitslp.com/ Instagram: @speechfitslp Keep in Touch for Courses/Newsletter/Resources: https://bio.site/karinhkoukeyanBook a Discovery Call: https://calendly.com/speechfitslp/complementary-consultationOther ways to connect:https://www.linkedin.com/in/karin-hartunian-koukeyan/http://www.linkedin.com/company/speechfit-slp/https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/store/speechfit-slp Email: [email protected] with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The Mindset Shift Every People-Pleasing Clinician Needs with Megan Blacksmith
What if the thing you’re avoiding is the thing you need to do?In this episode, I'm sitting down with Megan Blacksmith, speaker, NLP and hypnosis trainer, and founder of Blacksmith Training Company. Megan trains coaches, practitioners and leaders with the tools for faster (inner) transformation without fighting themselves along the way through Holistic NLP, a combining of the principles of NLP and her 10 years as a holistic health coach. We talked about people-pleasing, boundaries, money, and why the way you handle one uncomfortable situation tells you a lot about how you're handling your whole life. Here's what we get intoWhy fear of rejection is universal, and how the people who've moved past it got thereThe real reason you're not holding your cancellation policy (and what it's actually costing you and your clients)What "the way you do one thing is the way you do everything" actually means in practice, and how to use it to spot your own patternsHow boundaries aren't just good for you, they're what your clients need from you tooWhy distraction feels productive and how to recognize when you're using a real problem to avoid doing the uncomfortable thingWhat it looks like to choose your growth instead of waiting for something hard to force it on youIf you've been giving more than you're getting, holding back more than you're saying, or wondering why your business feels like it has a ceiling, this one is going to land. For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcast/episode-42Connect with our guest, Megan BlacksmithWebsite: https://blacksmithtrainingco.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/blacksmith_training_co/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BlacksmithTrainingCo Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. You Don’t Have to Be Fluent to Show Up for Bilingual Kids with Keila Gutierrez
You don’t have to be fluent in a language to serve a bilingual child well. That’s the message Keila Gutierrez is on a mission to get into the hands of every SLP who has ever hesitated at the therapy room door.Keila is a bilingual SLP, private practice owner, and digital product creator who grew up 45 minutes from the Mexican border. She owns Desert Lily Bilingual Speech Therapy Clinic and recently co-created a physical card product with Bilingual Speechie to help clinicians apply the complexity approach with bilingual children. Stop Measuring Your Progress Against Someone Else’s Highlight Reel
You can’t miss the boat because it’s your boat, so it will be ready and waiting for you when you arrive… on time according to your timeline. In this solo episode, I'm talking about something I've been sitting with a lot lately: time, the timelines we create, and how often they're working against us instead of for us. Not because having goals and deadlines is bad, but because the measuring stick most of us are using isn't actually ours. Here’s what I’m diving intoWhy setting a goal with a hard deadline, before you've done it before, is mostly guesswork and how that guesswork becomes a reason to quitWhat it actually means when your practice isn't growing "fast enough" and the question I think you should be asking insteadHow comparison works against you when all you're seeing is someone else's finished product, not the years behind itWhy living in future fear or replaying past experience is pulling you out of the only place where real decisions get madeWhat I've actually concluded about my own goals, my own timeline, and why I stopped treating slowness like a character flawIf you've been feeling behind lately, this episode is going to challenge where that feeling is coming from. For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcast/episode-40 Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Building a Business That Fits Your Life with Loevy Afanador
You got into private practice because you wanted freedom. Then somewhere along the way, the freedom disappeared and the 60-hour weeks moved in. If that sounds familiar, this episode is going to hit close to home.I sat down with speech therapist and private practice owner Loevy Afanador to have an honest conversation about what it actually looks and feels like to pivot out of hustle mode and into a business that aligns with your real life. Loevy started her practice in 2023 with big dreams and ended up grinding through 60-hour weeks until her body finally said enough. What she did next is worth hearing. In this episode, we cover:Why so many private practice owners end up building a job instead of a business, and what it takes to course-correctThe role blind spots play in burnout, and why you need someone outside your own head to help you see themPractical first steps you can take today to start shifting your schedule, your rates, and your prioritiesWhat it means to tie your worth to your business, and how separating the two changes everythingWhy asking for help, saying no, and working with a mentor or coach can be the thing that finally moves the needleLoevy now works as a mentor and coach for SLPs in private practice. If you’ve ever looked at your full caseload and thought, I should hire someone, this episode is going to give you a much more honest picture of what that actually means. Jamie Perez, speech therapist and owner of Thriving Joy Therapy, spent nearly a year trying to hire her first clinician, and what she learned in that process changed how she runs her entire business.Jamie specializes in infant feeding and medically complex cases and built a practice that quickly outgrew her capacity. Why Your Private Practice Needs More Than One Way to Make Money
If all of your income depends on you showing up, you already know how fragile that feels. One sick day, one insurance change, one clinician leaving your team and the whole thing wobbles. This episode is about what it actually looks like to build income that doesn't require you to be in the room. This week I'm talking about passive income and leveraged income — what they really are, what they are not, and how to start figuring out where they fit in your practice. I was just speaking at the AAPPSPA conference on this exact topic when a conversation about CPT code 92507 reminded me exactly why this work matters so much. When your entire business depends on one revenue stream you don't control, you are always one decision away from a crisis. What we cover in this episode:The real definition of passive income and why so many people get it wrong (it's not making money while you sleep doing nothing)The difference between passive income and leveraged income, and why both belong in your practiceHow to find your first passive income idea by looking at what you already do every dayThe mindset shift that stops most clinicians before they even start, and how to move past itIf you're ready to stop operating from one revenue stream and start building a business with more flexibility and more control, ScaleSmart Academy is where that work happens. When Closing Up Shop Actually Opens New Doors with Christina Beta
This episode is part of Community Chats, a special segment of the ScaleSmart Podcast where I sit down with SLPs, OTs, and PTs from our community to share the stories you don't always hear. Because growth doesn't only come from the same few voices. It comes from learning from people who are actually in it with you.Christina Beta is a speech therapist with over 25 years of experience, primarily in school-based settings. She opened a private practice clinic in 2023, built something she was proud of, and then made the hard call to close it when it started costing her more than it was giving. What came next was a pivot she did not plan for, and one that is turning out to be a really good fit.In this conversation, we get into:Why Christina closed her clinic after a year and what finally made the decision feel right, even when it felt like failureHow she fell into IEEs through a referral from a psychologist colleague and what that first evaluation actually looked likeThe gap she is filling for autistic children with high IQs who are testing out of speech services but still need pragmatic and social communication supportHow she structures her IEE services, from the evaluation and report to coaching packages, school visits, and professional developmentHer advice for SLPs who want to start offering IEEs and where to begin building those referral relationshipsIf you have ever closed something down and wondered what comes next, or if IEEs have been on your radar and you did not know where to start, this conversation is worth your time.Connect with our guest, ChristinaWebsite: https://www.collaborativemindsconsulting.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/collaborative_minds_consulting/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/17pALYaEZG/?mibextid=wwXIfr Courses and workshops: https://www.collaborativemindsconsulting.com/workshops-courses Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The Real Reason You're Overwhelmed (and What to Do About It)
If you have been saying "I am overwhelmed" on repeat lately, I want you to consider something. That word itself might be part of what is keeping you stuck.Overwhelm is a powerless word. When something is overwhelming you, it has taken over. And the more you say "I am overwhelmed," the more your brain gets to work proving it true. That is not a personal failure. That is biology. And once you understand what your brain is actually doing when you feel that way, the path out becomes a lot clearer. In this episode, I share what I figured out after spending 75 minutes arguing with my own coach about why I was too overwhelmed to hear a single solution. I walk through why the feeling of overwhelm has less to do with how much is on your plate and more to do with your brain trying to protect you from the discomfort of growth. I also give you the exact framework I use to move through it.In this episode, you will hear:Why shifting from "I am overwhelmed" to "I am feeling overwhelmed" is not just semantics, it is the first step to getting out of itThe specific ways your brain reroutes you toward safe action, getting another certification, reorganizing your office, living in your inbox, and why it feels productive but is actually keeping you stuckThe difference between a to-do list and a priority list and why most people never make oneHow to brain dump everything, separate what has real consequences from what just feels urgent, and land on a true top priorityWhy the task you have the most resistance to is almost always the most important thing on your list and what to do about thatThe words you speak become the house you live in. What 11 Years in Private Practice Actually Teaches You with Luba Patlakh
Some people build a business and figure it out as they go. Luba Patlakh - Kaplun, M.S. CCC-SLP, OMT is one of them. After 11 years, two locations in Philadelphia, a mobile therapy bus, a nonprofit preschool program, and a team of 20 administrative staff, Luba has a lot to say about what the figuring out actually looked like. And in this episode, she holds nothing back. This is not a conversation about systems and strategies. It is about what happens inside the person building the thing. The moment you realize you do not know everything and have to get comfortable with that. The day you hit a wall doing everything yourself and finally make your first hire. The shift that happens when you stop trying to make everyone do things your way and start trusting people to find their own rhythm. As Luba puts it, putting the puzzle of the business together was easier than the emotional transition of learning how to be with people and with yourself through the change. What you will hear in this episode:Why letting go of the "I know everything" mindset is one of the most important things you can do for your growthWhat burnout looked like for Luba and why her first hire changed everythingHow delegating transformed Kidology and what she learned about trusting people to do things differently than she wouldThe reason behind what you are building matters more than any strategy you will ever useWhat separates the people who rise quickly from those who stay stuck, and why it almost always comes down to the inner workYour business can only grow to the level of the problems you can handle. This episode is about building the capacity to handle more.Have a question for the show? The Hardest Part of Running a Business Nobody Talks About
The hardest part of running a business isn't really the marketing or the systems or the hiring. The hardest part is being the only person in charge of every single decision, upholding every boundary, taking every risk. And doing it all alone. In this episode, Hannah set out to talk about loneliness, but took the off-ramp into how to make decisions so you don't get stuck at indecision station, where to go for trusted support, and why you need to fill your own cup if you're going to sustain this crazy ride. She dives into why she spent years hiding inside business partnerships instead of betting on herself, what happened when COVID forced her to go all in, and the real work it took to get off the self-worth roller coaster. This episode covers:Why so many people enter business partnerships for the wrong reasonsA simple decision-making filter to use when you're stuck and have nobody to askThe real difference between a mentor, a consultant, and a coach — and which one you actually need right nowWhy your results are always a data point, never a verdict on your worthHow to fill your own cup so you can keep showing up for everyone who needs youIf you've ever felt completely alone in the driver's seat of your business, this one is for you.Resources mentioned:Scale Smart Academy: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ Follow Hannah on Instagram: @cuedcreativeSubmit a question for the podcast: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastConnect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. If I Were Starting a Private Practice Tomorrow: 6 Things I’d Do Without a Doubt (Part 2)
This is Part 2 of a two-part series on starting and growing a private practice. If you haven't listened to Part 1 yet, go back and start there before jumping in here.In this episode, I cover the two remaining things I'd do from day one if I were starting over: learning to think like a CEO and building a second income stream before you need one. These are the moves that separate a practice that just survives from one that actually grows. What's covered:What it actually means to run your practice like a CEOHow tracking your numbers changes the decisions you makeWhy boundaries are the structure holding your business togetherHow to start building a second income stream before you need oneWhether you're just getting started or you've been in practice for years, this episode will give you a clearer picture of how to build something sustainable. For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcast/episode-30 Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. If I Were Starting a Private Practice Tomorrow: 6 Things I’d Do Without a Doubt (Part 1)
Whether you've been running a practice for years or are just getting started, building with intention rather than reaction is what separates a sustainable practice from one that's fast-tracked to burnout. Most of us start a business the way I did: with no plan, riding on a wing and a prayer, and figuring it out as we go. And you can certainly do that too, but at some point, running a business in reaction mode will stop working. If you're exhausted from piecemealing it together and ready to build with intention, this episode is for you.In this episode, I cover:Start with the end in mind before you see a single client, so you know where you're headed and can make decisions that align with your goals and vision.Niche strategically based on your financial situation and market, because if you're trying to serve everyone, you'll find out quickly how hard that really is.Build referral relationships before you feel ready... meaning from day one. And if you're not actively building referral relationships, today is the day to start (I have some tips for you).Protect your time from day one so your practice works for your life, not the other way around.Tune in to get the clearest, most practical framework I know for building a private practice with intention from the very first day.For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcast/episode-29 Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Your Business Can Only Grow to the Level of Problems You Can Solve
A few weeks ago, I was in full reaction mode.Someone said something unkind about me online. Scammers were impersonating our business. I was sitting in traffic, angry, distracted, and ready to fight people I couldn't even see. Then a fox ran across the road in front of my car. And something shifted. That moment led me straight to one of the most important truths I've learned in 10 years of business. Your business can only grow to the level of problems you can handle. If a bad review sends you into a spiral, that's your ceiling. If a slow month has you making reactive decisions, that's your ceiling. In this episode, we get into why your brain literally can't think strategically when you're triggered, the one question that pulls you out of reaction mode fast, and why some problems don't actually need to be solved at all.If problems tend to knock you off your game, this one is for you.For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcast/episode-27Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Money With a Side of Woo with Audrey Faust
If you've ever felt guilty charging what you know you're worth, or if you've caught yourself saying your price like it's a question, this episode is going to stay with you. I sat down with Audrey Faust the Manifesting CFO and bestselling author of She Grows Rich, to talk honestly about the money mindset blocks that keep so many therapists and private practice owners stuck. We got into the subconscious programming around money that most of us picked up before age seven, how it shows up in everything from your pricing to your follow-up habits, and what it actually takes to start shifting it.What we cover:How to recognize subconscious money beliefs that are quietly holding your business backThe connection between your energy when you say your price and whether clients say yesWhy charging more often leads to better client buy-in and better resultsIf you've been stuck at the same price point or feeling resentful about the work you're doing for what you're earning, this conversation will give you a new way to look at it.For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcast/episode-26 Connect with our guest, Audrey FaustWebsite: www.audreyfaustconsulting.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/manifesting_cfo/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/manifestingcfo/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/audreyfaust/ Book: She Grows RichConnect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. From Burnout to Breakthrough: Using Animal Assisted Therapy in Speech Therapy with Sharlet Lee Jensen
What happens when traditional speech therapy approaches stop working and you start paying attention to what actually helps clients feel safe, calm, and willing to engage? For speech-language pathologist Sharlet Lee Jensen, that question led her down an unexpected path into animal assisted therapy and completely changed the way she experienced her work. After years of feeling the weight of burnout, challenging client behaviors, and limited engagement, Sharlet began exploring how the human animal bond could support communication, regulation, and trust inside the therapy room. What started as a single experiment quickly became a passion, and eventually grew into a book, a course, and a growing body of resources for clinicians who want to work differently and more sustainably. In this episode of The ScaleSmart Podcast, I sit down with Sharlet to talk about what animal assisted therapy really looks like in practice, the responsibility that comes with it, and the personal growth required when you step outside familiar systems. Sharlet shares how connection transformed outcomes for anxious clients, why safety and consent are non-negotiable, and how persistence carried her through publishing, visibility, and learning entirely new skills. In this episode, we talk about:What animal assisted therapy actually is and how it supports communication and engagementWhy connection and regulation must come before technique for many clientsThe safety, consent, and animal communication skills therapists must understandHow burnout can be a signal that something needs to change, not a sign of failureThe learning curve of doing something new and why mistakes are part of the processHow following curiosity led to writing a book and creating resources for other cliniciansIf you have ever felt burned out, stuck with disengaged clients, or curious about doing therapy in a way that feels more connected and meaningful, this episode will expand how you think about progress, growth, and what is possible in your work.Connect with our guest, Sharlet Lee JensenWebsite: www.speechdogs.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/speech_dogs/?hl=enFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61552348942052 Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Can You Really Make Money Selling Courses and Digital Products Online?
Can you really make money selling courses and digital products as a speech, occupational, or physical therapist? The short answer is yes. But there's a formula, and most people are missing key pieces of it. In this episode, I am breaking down exactly what it takes to identify a product people will connect with and pay for, why most people don't see success (and it's probably not what you think), and what you can do differently to create a sustainable revenue stream outside of your clinical hours. What we cover in this episode:Why a single income stream tied to your time is a vulnerabilityThe difference between passive income and leveraged income, and how both can work for youThe most common reason digital products don't sell, and it has nothing to do with bad ideas or poor marketingHow to understand your audience's problem from their point of view, not yoursWhy selling is serving, and how to price and promote your offer without feeling like you're being pushyWhy most online products fail (hint: it's not the idea)Why wanting to make money for your expertise is not only okay, it's something you've earnedIf you have been sitting on an idea or wondering why something you launched didn't land the way you hoped, this episode will help you see exactly where the gaps are and how to fill them. Stop Building the Future From Fear
I've been having the same dream over and over for months. I'm traveling somewhere new and exciting, but I can't make my flight because I'm trying to cram everything into a suitcase that won't close. When I finally understood what it meant, everything clicked. I've been trying to drag all my old baggage into this new chapter, and it's keeping me stuck. What you'll hear in this episode:Why the future you're building is shaped by the past you're trying to avoidHow to rewrite past experiences by finding the wins, lessons, and gratitude instead of the fearWhy tying your self-worth to outcomes keeps you making small, safe decisionsThe shift that changes fear-based decision making into forward momentumIf you've been holding back because you're afraid something won't work out, this episode will remind you that uncertainty is part of the deal and your worth has nothing to do with the outcome.Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
In this solo episode of The ScaleSmart Podcast, I’m talking about why discomfort is not a sign that you’re doing something wrong, especially when you’re growing a private practice or building something new. So many clinicians know what they need to do to move forward, but they get stuck because the next step feels awkward, scary, or unfamiliar. This episode is about understanding why growth almost always feels uncomfortable and why avoiding it keeps you stuck longer than you realize.I’m sharing personal stories from moving to New York City as a teenager to walking into a cardio tennis class where I didn’t know anyone, and how those moments mirror what it actually takes to grow a business. We’re talking about discomfort in a practical, realistic way and how to work within your comfort zone without letting fear make your decisions for you.In this episode, I talk about:Why discomfort is a normal and necessary part of growing a private practice and building confidenceHow fear of judgment shows up in things like social media, marketing, and visibilityWhat it means to stretch within your zone of proximity instead of forcing yourself into big leapsHow evaluating the worst case and best case helps you move forward even when something feels hardIf you are a speech therapist or private practice owner who keeps putting off certain tasks because they feel uncomfortable, worries about being judged, or feels stuck even though you know what to do next, this episode will help you reframe discomfort, build trust in yourself, and take the next step forward anyway.Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Everything You Need to Know About Websites
In this solo episode of The ScaleSmart Podcast, I’m breaking down why your website is one of the most important marketing tools for speech therapists and private practice owners. Trusting Yourself Again: 2025 Lessons and 2026 Predictions with Hannah Boeck
In this episode of The ScaleSmart Podcast, I’m reflecting on the biggest lessons 2025 taught me and what I’m intentionally leaving behind as I step into 2026. This year stretched me in ways I didn’t expect. I found myself listening to too much outside noise, questioning what I already knew, and chasing advice that pulled me out of alignment. These lessons didn’t break me, but they did force me to get honest about where I stopped trusting my intuition and started playing small.I’m also sharing my grounded predictions for private practices, marketing, and business in 2026. This conversation is about rebuilding self-trust, simplifying your business, and showing up in a way that actually feels sustainable and real again. In this episode, I talk about:Why overconsuming information and staying in student mode can quietly stall your growthLetting go of the idea that there’s a secret you’re missing and learning to trust your own experienceWhat hiding, perfectionism, and fear of judgment cost you in business and visibilityWhy authenticity, simplicity, and real connection will matter more than ever in 2026If 2025 left you feeling disconnected from your instincts, overwhelmed by outside advice, or unsure of your next move, this episode will help you slow down, come back to yourself, and move into 2026 with clarity, confidence, and momentum.Connect with HannahWebsite: www.cuedcreative.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/cuedcreativeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CuedCreativeDownload the free guide to Step Into Your CEO Era: https://www.cuedcreative.com/ceoSign up for our next workshop: https://www.cuedcreative.com/join-us For the full show notes and links, visit: https://www.cuedcreative.com/podcastSubscribe and ReviewRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The CEO Shift: Building a Profitable and Sustainable Practice with Dr. Adam Robin
What happens when you stop relying on hustle, emotion, and instinct to run your private practice and start leading with clarity, data, and the identity of a true CEO?That shift is what helped physical therapist, clinic owner, and entrepreneur Dr. Adam Robin transform his practice from stressed and unstable into a financially grounded, profitable, and scalable business. After realizing that hard work alone wasn’t enough to grow, Adam dug into the deeper mindset and financial foundations that private practice owners are rarely taught. Now, he teaches clinicians how to step into confident leadership, build businesses that support their lives, and make profitability intentional rather than accidental. In this episode of The ScaleSmart Podcast, I sit down with Adam to break down the personal transformation behind business growth, from untangling old stories around money and boundaries to understanding KPIs, break-even metrics, and the systems that keep a practice running smoothly.
