The Scratched Unplugged: Growth and Connection (TRAILER)

In our first series of The Scratched Unplugged, we hear six powerful conversations with women depicted in artist Karis Yves Knight's portrait series 'The V.O.W Project'. V.O.W, which stands for THE VOICE OF WOMEN, is a growing art project created by the Glasgow-based artist, and strives to highlight the experiences of women, through an unpolished artistic lens which makes room for grief, loss, pain and suffering and yet paints something new and captivating with every person she meets. Karis' tenacious approach to her creative process is palpable, and I think her sheer drive for visual, honest storytelling was particularly endearing for me as a journalist. It takes a pretty remarkable person to take stories detailing events when we've perhaps felt our lowest, and yet transforms these memories into a vibrant, exciting and chromatic array of humanity in all of its hidden treasures. In this series, we hope to share an audible snapshot of how this series began.  Having just launched her second instalment of the V.O.W project, rather unsurprisingly, the art has been turning heads beyond bonnie Glasgow, and has attracted the attention of women across the globe; women with a story to tell, women with a past, women with trauma and women who bravely share stories that speak to us on a universal level, whoever and wherever we find ourselves to be.
