talk a little about the 14U action I saw in Orrville at Fire in the Sky this past weekend, and honor a team and several players of the week. I would also like to get some honest feedback on the broadcasts we have been doing at championship games. As of right now, we don't have any more scheduled this year. Are they worthwhile to you? If you listen, are you listening to the live broadcasts or listening to the podcast later? What could we do better with them? I'm also finding interesting some of the threads I'm seeing today about umpires. What are your expectations around umpires at the events you attend? Is the quality of umpiring getting worse, better or about the same?

We will talk about various topics, and are still in the process of lining up some guest hosts. I will also talk a little about my experience broadcasting for FLO Softball this past weekend, and will name my team and players of the week.

After a 1 week hiatus, the Softball Zone Radio Show will return tomorrow evening, Tuesday May 24 at 9PM. I am sure we'll talk a little about the 10U and 12U polls, the WCWS from this past weekend, and I will give a brief update of the activities of the facemask team which has been very busy this past week. Please join us and let us know in the meantime if there's anything in particular you'd like to hear discussed as well. Coach Joe will be joining us as well, so we'll have an "Ask Coach Joe" segment, assuming our listeners have some questions for him.

Tonight we kick off Part #1 on a 3 part series (10 Reason I believe Showcase Tournaments can be a Waste of Money). Speaking of Marion, Ricky and I will recap our 10U championship broadcast from yesterday, we will be naming a team and player of the week, and will have a couple of other shout-outs to give as well. I'll share some data by school (some of which I think may be surprising to some of you), and we can discuss whether we think the Ohio schools are doing a good job of recruiting their own. We do plan to have a show about once a month and will let you know the next date. Both Coach Joe Abraham and Brittany Duncan do plan to join this evening, so hope to see everyone at 8:00! Getting close to rapping up another Softball Travel Season and its the same with the Show. This will the next last show in 2015. The Show return once College Softball Season Kick off. Hoping to have both Brittany Duncan and Coach Joe join Ricky and I this evening, as we plan to talk about a variety of topics ... the future of the NSA in Ohio, the pros and cons of non-parent vs. parent coaches, whether the sport is too watered down in the region, the new buckie website and several ways Ricky plans to use it, and our preliminary plans on game broadcasts for next year. Your suggestions for topics are always welcome as well. Hope to see you in the chat room this evening, which Ricky usually opens up about 7:30 or so.

This week's radio show should be really good! Coach Joe, Brittany Duncan, and John Kelly are all planning to join, we will be talking about all of the high national finishes teams in Ohio and the region had, and we are planning to have Tony Scibelli on around 9 or so to talk about the Bandits teams' tremendous finishes, and all of the players and coaches from Ohio and the region these teams!

We haven't talked nearly as much about tryout season as we had planned the last several weeks so will try to focus on that this week. We will also be discussing some fairly significant show programming changes we are thinking about. I've had allot of calls and emails about the fact that the tryout section now has team banners on the web site. Ricky and I are pleased to announce that Brittany Duncan will be joining us as a guest on tonight's Softball Zone Radio Show. Most of you know either know Brit personally or at least know of her. After completing her high school softball career here in Ohio receiving several All-Ohio honors, #45 took her game to Valparaiso and then on to Louisville where she had a stellar career. She was an amazing hitter, and has also conducted a lot of hitting lessons for younger players down in the Dayton area. Please join us on the show at 8:00 PM EST this evening and listen to what Brittany has to say on a variety of topics. Who knows ... we might even see a lot more of Brittany on the show and/or here in the Forum in the future if the "ratings" are as good tonight as I suspect they will be!

I know we are expecting Coach Joe and, aside from our regular topics, I'd like to talk with him some about the thread "where have all the pitchers gone?". I'm guessing we'll talk a little about this past weekend's Stingrays tourney, which is arguably the best tourney in the state of Ohio each year. It's also approaching tryout season, so I expect some discussion on this as well ... how do you know when it's time to look for a new team, and how do you go about doing this?

Joe Abraham, Head Coach at Hillsdale College and founder of the Buckeye Heat, and John Kelly of the Next Level travel organization out of Southern California and writer of several books on the mental side of the game, will be back from their trips to Colorado and joining Ricky and me. We will be talking with them about showcases in general, including some questions we have around coaches being paid/reimbursed for them, what your players need to do to best prepare for events like these and Nationals, how some of the Ohio and other regional teams did out there, etc. Ricky and I will also be talking about our broadcast at Orrville, and giving some recognition to several of the teams and individual players we saw and/or who did well there. We'd also like to talk about some of the more interesting recent threads from the Forum including "Where did all the pitchers go?". Looking forward to seeing you in the chat room tomorrow!

The mental part of the game is huge, so don't underestimate it and listen to a nationally-renowned expert on the subject!

Both Joe Abraham, Hillsdale College head softball coach, and John Kelly, renowned expert on the mental side of the game, will be joining Ricky and I on tonight's show at 8:00 EST. John rejoins us after completing his high school coaching season in Southern California where his team won a CIF Section Division 1 Championship (it's the closest thing they have to a state championship in California). Aside from our usual segments including "Ask Coach Joe", we will talk a little with John about his high school coaching experience this past year and get a mental tip from him. The broadcast will be going on simultaneously with game 2 of the WCWS, so we'll certainly all be keeping an eye on that and offering some commentary as well.

While I may not be able to co-host this week's show, Ricky and Coach Joe are both scheduled to be on ... here's a list of the things they plan to talk about ... 1.) Playing on artificial turf. 2.) What you do when no one is watching is more important than what you do when someone is watching. 3.) Are you mentally ready to compete at a higher level? 4.) Review on Berliner Park and the 2015 firefighter memorial tournament. 5.) 10u & 12u polls update. 6.) Bracket contest update. And of course, when Coach Joe is on, there will always be an opportunity to "Ask Coach Joe"

Lee Pyles will be joining us this evening for the third segment to talk about 8 more young ladies who are now successfully playing D1 college ball. I'd also like to have a discussion about the "rights" of youth players (and their parents) who are on travel/elite teams ... are they entitled to a certain amount of playing time or playing certain positions, and what should their options be if they don't get what they expect and/or are promised?
