The Spirit Brat Podcast

Spirit Brat is a raw, mystical memoir in podcast form, tracing how a series of unprompted and surreal spiritual experiences collided with real-life danger. It’s the story of how I navigated an undiagnosed dissociative disorder, by studying psychology, Buddhism, Hinduism, yoga, Catholicism, the LDS Church, and New Age beliefs (not in that order). This would ultimately prepare me for the unthinkable: surviving a coercive relationship with a Special Warfare veteran who later told me he hunted me.This podcast isn’t just about what happened. It’s about my lack of reverence, and how the divine, in all its strange disguises, showed up in my life in spite of not only my beliefs, but in spite of what some of those religions believe about themselves and each other. Spirit Brat is where mystical awe meets psychological rigor, and where spiritual highs collide with the brutal clarity of survival.

  1. 14

    E14: The Stack

I map a “healing stack”: brain-focused meditation, chakras, meridians, koshas, yoga ethics & the rosary—practical, nerdy tools for calm and repair.  Content Warnings (non-graphic) Brief mention of past abuse/coercion

  2. 13

    E13: The Tightrope

A live identity crisis: mystical events that felt real, a seminarian who “lifted me to the Lord” then ghosted, and the fallout of coercive abuse. We map derealization, moral injury, and a plain-language take on “reconciliation” as behavior/neurology—asking what trust looks like after harm. TW: religious trauma, coercive control, drugging, dissociation, explicit language.

  3. 12

    E12: The Alice Moment

After “the handshake,” a call drops me into trance calm, a white-light intervention, and 48 hours of tears and vivid dreams. I begin to unpack the aftermath. Content advisory: Religious themes, dissociation, suicidal ideation briefly referenced (non-graphic), emotional abuse, brief sexual harassment mention.

  4. 11

    The Handshake Protocol

What happens when you hack your own autopilot into a mystical collision? In this episode, I unpack how I unknowingly set up the moment a simple handshake with a seminarian turned into a neurological, mystical shockwave. Years of meditation, trauma, and cognitive dissonance collided in an experience that forced me to confront the limits of ego, attraction, and belief. No reverence, no bliss- just raw recalibration in real time.

  5. 10

    The Puzzle

This one is based on a journal entry of a mystical experience and is written as I experienced it, with basically no infrastructure to process it. If you like puzzles or detective work go for it. It's a great representation of dissociation and can be hard to follow. Years later, it's still causing dissociation in me.. so, keep that in mind. The next episode will have a streamlined version.

  6. 9

    The Ledger

A Superbowl half-time performance prompts a mystical experience that answers my months long question about gratitude. Also, sound is a bit off, I forgot my microphone.

  7. 8

    E8: The Cut-off

Hypnosis Mom tells me to abandon my daughter, I cut her off energetically and subsequently notice an interesting effect on her meditation.

  8. 7

    E7: The Tech Support

I asked the universe for guidance and got seven seminarians at the pool instead of ghostly spirit guides. Zero flirt, maximum philosophy—and suddenly I realized how different life feels when you’re not a target. This episode is me laughing my way through that plot twist and how it changed the way I trust nudges.

  9. 6

    E6: The Illumination

In yoga school, mystical experiences came into focus, validated by philosophy, community, and the unexpected gift of explanation.

  10. 5

    E5: The Reprogramming

    I accidentally joined a cult because of a conversation about children's .

  11. 4

    E4: The Override

Using meditation to hack my brain’s reflexes, merging fainting and sleepwalking into a controlled state.

  12. 3

    E3: The Recalibration

Using chakra healing to abstract my trauma, recode my responses and why I let someone else pick my spirit guide.

  13. 2

    E2: The Foundation

This chapter traces the foundation of my healing: having an army nurse on a plane tell me I needed to read about psychology. This person's advice gave me the permission (I didn't know I needed)  to look at behavior as pathology and not just as an annoyance that my husband had peed on a wall or thrown a dresser at me... and this would evolve into an astute ability to notice my own psychological patterns. TW's as per usual.

  14. 1

    E1: The Origin

In this first episode of Spirit Brat, I share mystical moments from childhood and early marriage that shaped my view of the divine. It’s where the name Spirit Brat comes from, someone who took miracles for granted like most people take wifi for granted. If that’s ever been you, listen in.
