This week we spoke to Mark and Chris from the Hillsborough Hogs youth hockey (Triangle Youth Hockey of North Carolina - https://www.tyhnc.org/). We had an excellent conversation about their organization, how the Hurricanes have helped grow hockey in the NC, and what some of the issues facing them are. It was good to hear that the Canes don't seem to have taken the same imperial path of the Dallas Stars (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2025/08/01/nhl-dallas-stars-texas-youth-hockey-monopoly/84289184007/).I certainly learned some things about NC's youth hockey beginnings and culture, so be sure to tune in to hear more!

Coach Ryan brings the knowledge of the game from a national level, but without the big market bias. He's our #1 YouTube hockey follow.

The Canes are now down 0-3 in the ECF again, and have only one a single period through those 3 games. As always, Ray and I will be tough but fair in our thoughts, but this one is going to start the process of taking an honest look at what is happening in this series. To paraphrase Meat Loaf, 2 out of 4 ain't bad with a 3rd string goalie in net. The Canes drop back to backs vs the Kittehs, but came back and beat both the Rags and Stars so it's not a bad week at all Caniacs. Ray and I talk about the weeks' games, goal tending options, what could we steal from Nashville perhaps, and why we need to see the forest and not the trees.

I mean, it's Shane Willis, what more do you want!? We talk with Shane Willis about how hard it is for your guys like Jarvis and Blake to break into the league, including some of Shane own journey. AHL reporter and all-around good dude Andrew Rinaldi joined us to talk about the Chicago Wolves / Carolina Hurricanes situation.

As we start season 5 of the pod, we welcome in one of Ray's best friends, Andy to the show. A Flames/Oilers guy through and through, Andy joins us to talk about his job in the NHL, to remember Johnny Gaudreau, and to talk about how the Jarvis contract could impact his beloved Oilers. An emotional episode for sure.

Quick update to answer Daniel Wagner's question, Drury signed but Necas and Jarvis aren't (but they will be so don't worry), and we play match the Hurricane to the Ted Lasso character as a little timeline cleanse.
