Each week I conjure up a podcast to spark your interest and satisfy that eternal question: WHY? Occasionally, I’ll examine unique books, sometimes my own, or someone else’s; possibly do an interview with a writer or an author. Literature Discussion Rex Stout writing Nero Wolfe
Synopsis – Literature Discussion Rex Todhunter Stout was an American writer noted for his detective fiction. His best-known characters are the detective Nero Wolfe and his assistant Archie Goodwin, who were featured in 33 novels and 39 novellas or short stories between 1934 and 1975. Many of the stories have been translated into films, radio shows, stage plays and series for magazines.

Phillip Marlowe story inspiration podcast

Nostalgia: Charles Ayling Trip Around the Cape in 1902
Synopsis – Author Inspiration and Story NostalgiaInspired by an actual recorded interview with Charles Ayling in the Tales of Cape Cod archives of Oral Histories in 1958, and published with permission in the Provincetown Independent.His trip was the first car (A Stanley Steamer) to drive from Centerville to Provincetown in 1902. He held the recordfor about a year. The Tales of Cape Cod, a nonprofitorganization founded in Barnstable in 1949 to record oral histories, provided the Independent with a transcription of a taped interview with Ayling, making the source of this story Ayling’s own recollections. Reports of Ayling’s trip sometimes place it in 1901, but Ayling referred to 1902 in his account.
