The Tenacious Cyclist
by The Tenacious Cyclist
The Tenacious Cyclist is a podcast about ultra-endurance, chronic illness, adaptive physiology, and what it takes to keep moving when the body does not follow normal rules.Hosted by The Tenacious Cyclist, an adaptive cyclist and ultra-endurance athlete, the show explores the reality of riding and rebuilding under extreme physiological constraint. After more than 19 years in a wheelchair, he returned to movement and built a system he calls Prosthetic Physiology: a framework for replacing unreliable autonomic function with structure, timing, feedback, and adaptation. This is not a podcast about empty motivation. It is about architecture. Pain, pacing, dysautonomia, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, recovery, endurance strategy, inclusive cycling, mixed-ability challenge riding, and the mechanics of staying functional when medicine has no clean template.Expect solo episodes, real ride analysis, hard-earned lessons from ultra-distance cycling, and blunt conversations about resilience, system desig

No One Gets Left Behind.
221 miles. Liverpool to Cardiff. Disabled and non-disabled riders. Hand cycles, trikes, tandems, adaptive bikes. One rule hanging over the entire thing like a battle flag:No one gets left behind. This episode is about Ride Together 200 and why a bunch of exhausted strangers crawling across Britain together might be one of the most quietly radical things happening in sport right now.Not inspiration porn. Not a corporate advert with piano music and a brand logo at the end. Something rarer: a cycling event built around the idea that we move at the pace of the group. In a world that rewards speed and punishes slowness, that is almost offensive. And that is exactly the point. This is The Tenacious Cyclist. New episodes every Wednesday.Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever you get your podcasts. For the full story, head to RideTogether200.org.uk

The Alternative
Eleven people in the UK share my diagnosis. Ten of them are bed-bound. I ride ultras.Fifty-six years of unbroken pain. No pharmaceutical support. No viable medication route. In December 2022 I was ending my 19th year in a wheelchair. On 21 January 2023 I got on my bike. My VO2 max was 30. It is now 55. I am 58.This is not a story about overcoming. The illness is the road. This is what it costs. And I know which story I am still writing.
