Today's episode is the next in a group of interviews we recorded at Steamboat Music Fest this past January.  In this episode we interview Andy Hedges.  Andy is a songster, reciter, storyteller, guitarist, and collector of cowboy songs and poems. The son of an Italian schoolteacher and a rodeo cowboy turned preacher, Andy was born in Lubbock, Texas, in the spring of 1980. He grew up in the small community of Tokio, Texas, where his family paid rent on an old farmhouse by looking after a few head of cattle. It was there that Andy fell in love with traditional music by listening to his father's cassettes of cowboy songs.  Andy has had the honor of performing at places like the Grand Ole Opry and the Newport Folk Festival.  Andy is also a podcaster and hosts Cowboy Crossroads with Andy Hedges featuring his interviews with everyone from cowboy poets and musicians to working cowboys.  Enjoy the show! Brody Buster was a child prodigy on the harmonica and was already making appearances on major television shows like the Tonight's Show with Jay Leno and the 90's sitcom staple Full House, all before he turned 10 years old!!! Brody was baptized into the blues scene in Kansas City at a very early age and began forging a career that has allowed him to share the stage with the likes of B.B. King, Keb Mo, Quincy Jones, Chaka Kahn and others! As you'll hear in the episode, his battle with addiction nearly took him completely out of the game altogether, but thankfully, he's in recovery and back to playing live and he's got a brand-new record perfectly titled, Redemption, coming out in the Spring of 2025. Brody will also be playing one of the most unique gigs a guy could ever land this summer by performing on the Durango Blues Train in both May and August. Along with working a day job for a little ol publication called the New York Times, native Okie and Red Dirt Music Fan, Josh Crutchmer, is a journalist who's played a significant role in getting recognition for the artists and the music we all dig for years now. For example, Josh just spent an entire year basically embedded with Wyatt Flores as he rides a very hot streak into the fall.  He was in the studio with him as he recorded his latest album. Josh has also been spending a lot of time with The Great Divide as they capped their comeback this year with some Texas Music honors as well as their Opry debut in July and their Ryman debut (opening for Wyatt) coming in December! Over the past year, Josh has also had his articles published in Rolling stone featuring artists like Flatland Calvary, Wade Bowen, Dylan Gossett, Koe Wetzel, American Aquarium, Cody Canada, Reckless Kelly, Muscadine Bloodline, Dasha, Shane Smith, Old 97s and Charles Wesley Godwin. So, let's just say Josh has his pulse on the scene and the exciting time we're all experiencing in our favorite genre of original music.  We were thrilled to have him on the show and we can't recommend his book highly enough!
