BREAKING: Ridglan Beagles Set to be Freed!

🎧 Podcast Highlights: Breaking news on Ridglan beagles rescue Inside the fight against animal testing facilities Emotional stories behind rescued lab beagles How activists pushed for this major breakthrough What happens next for these freed animals   WATCH ANIMAL RIGHTS HISTORY! SHARE OUT! COMMENT! A New Dawn for the Ridglan Beagles For years, Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin has been ground zero in the battle to stop the breeding of beagles for painful experimentation. Now, that narrative has shifted in a historic victory for animal welfare. In a monumental breakthrough in the "Ridglan Beagle Saga," an agreement has reportedly been reached to transfer about 1,000 beagles from the breeding facility into the compassionate hands of rescuers. This extraordinary news broke without many details which we will hopefully get NOW as a news conference begins in Madison, Wisconsin. This extraordinary deal follows a period of extreme tension and physical confrontation. On April 18th, the saga reached a fever pitch when approximately 1,000 animal activists surged toward the facility in a dramatic rescue attempt. The demonstration turned volatile as authorities deployed tear gas and rubber bullets to repel the animal lovers. The encounter left numerous would-be rescuers injured and led to multiple arrests, underscoring the desperate urgency felt by the animal advocacy community. Now, that desperation has turned into a diplomatic triumph. Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy have reportedly successfully negotiated a confidential agreement to secure the release of many of the dogs. Exactly how many? We should learn that now. This development marks a definitive turning point for animal rights in general and animal experimentation in particular as activists said they were spurred to do their own rescue after authorities failed to act despite whistleblower testimony that beagles had been subjected to painful surgical procedures without anesthesia by non-veterinarians. Leading the news conference: • Lauree Simmons, president and founder, Big Dog Ranch Rescue Wayne Pacelle, president, the Center for a Humane Economy and Animal Wellness Action The Road to Recovery: Scale: An estimated 1,000 beagles are being liberated from the Dane County facility, although we should get specific numbers now. Mission: Big Dog Ranch Rescue will provide immediate medical exams, vaccinations, and rehabilitation. Placement: A nationwide network of rescue partners will help place these dogs in permanent, loving homes. The press conference in Madison will provide the first full look at the logistics of this massive rescue operation. After the chaos and injury of recent weeks, this announcement offers hope of a peaceful resolution. Ridglan denies the cruelty allegations and is invited on any time.   Jane Velez-Mitchell is an award-winning journalist, TV producer and NY Times bestselling author who founded UnchainedTV, the world's premier plant-based streaming network. Mass Beagle Rescue Turns Chaotic After Tear Gas

🎧 Podcast Highlights Activists attempt a live beagle rescue operation Confrontation escalates with police deploying tear gas Shocking conditions surrounding dogs used in testing Emotional reactions from rescuers on the front lines The growing movement to end animal experimentation   UNCHAINEDTV NEWS: SPECIAL REPORT The Battle for Ridglan: 1,000 Activists Meet Rubber Bullets in Historic Failed Rescue In a scene described by witnesses as a "war zone," the quiet landscape of Dane County, Wisconsin, became the site of a historic clash on April 18, 2026. Over 1,000 animal rights activists from across the globe descended upon Ridglan Farms, a controversial beagle-breeding facility, in a mass "open rescue" attempt aimed at liberating 2,000 dogs slated for experimentation. What it unfold live in this UNCHAINEDTV NEWS: SPECIAL REPORT. What began as a mission of mercy quickly devolved into chaos. Law enforcement greeted the massive surge of protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets, leaving some activists collapsed and injured. Despite the sheer scale of the mobilization—one of the largest in history—the mission failed to extract a single animal. The escalation followed a contentious legal deal that allowed Ridglan to continue internal experimentation despite harrowing whistleblower testimony regarding surgeries performed on beagles without anesthesia. While no beagles were saved, the event ignited a national firestorm and global media coverage. Images of injured protesters and the arrest of lead organizer Wayne Hsiung have prompted some local supervisors to express outrage and one to call for an investigation into allegations of excessive police force. Ridglan Farms denies all allegations of animal cruelty, calls the activists extremists. We invite Ridglan on any time to comment further. Shocking Mass Beagle Rescue LIVE!

UNCHAINEDTV IS LIVE FROM Wisconsin — A massive surge of animal activists has descended upon Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin, the nation's second-largest beagle breeding and research facility. UnchainedTV has a reporter LIVE at the scene to bring us the very latest as this high-stakes nonviolent mobilization unfolds. A large group of animal advocates have gathered at the facility following a historic legal settlement that requires Ridglan to surrender its breeding license by July 1, 2026. However, protestors argue that the "stipulation" leaves thousands of dogs in immediate peril to be experimented on at the facility. The mobilization follows shocking revelations from an evidentiary hearing. In open court, whistleblowers testified to witnessing harrowing scenes where dogs were reportedly operated on without anesthesia by non-veterinarians, including "cherry-eye" surgeries, where dogs were allegedly conscious and thrashing around in pain while being restrained. Led by famed attorney and animal rights activist Wayne Hsiung and a coalition including The Simple Heart and Alliance for Animals, the crowd is currently initiating a direct appeal to the government. Holding white flowers to symbolize their commitment to nonviolence, the group is calling on authorities to facilitate an immediate rescue of all the dogs inside the facility and for those animals to be put up for adoption with the help of animal rescue groups willing to help. The atmosphere is tense but disciplined. Organizers tell us: "We have found that the authorities will not respond to anything other than public pressure. That, in turn, depends on a well-organized and well-attended demonstration." While a special prosecutor investigated the allegations of felony animal abuse, protesters today say the agreement still leaves beagles at risk of painful experimentation and death. If authorities refuse to intervene, some participants have expressed a readiness to provide direct aid to the animals themselves. We will remain on-site as this developing situation unfolds. Now, UnchainedTV host Jane Velez-Mitchell and former law enforcement investigator Tiffany Brunelli analyze the action on the ground in Wisconsin as it unfolds. We invite company representatives on to comment.   💡 DONATION INFO & UNCHAINEDTV LINKS Thank you for watching! UnchainedTV is a 501c3 nonprofit. Shocking USDA Move: Faster Slaughter, Bigger Risks!

🎧 Podcast Highlights Heightened Animal Suffering: At accelerated speeds, it becomes nearly impossible to ensure animals are properly stunned. This leads to horrific instances where animals remain conscious as they reach the scalding tanks or the butchering line. Severe Worker Hazards: Employees on the slaughter floor face a dramatic increase in repetitive motion injuries, such as carpal tunnel and musculoskeletal disorders, while the sheer speed of the machinery raises the risk of life-altering accidents. Compromised Food Safety: Faster lines mean less time for inspectors to identify fecal contamination, abscesses, or disease, potentially allowing tainted meat to enter the national food supply. Lack of Enforcement:  Critics say this is part of a broader pattern of weakened enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), including the USDA's failure to consistently hold violators accountable   COMMENT BELOW NOW before the approaching deadline!  TELL THE USDA NOT TO KILL PIGS AND CHICKENS EVEN FASTER: Here's the comment page for the proposed poultry rule: https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/FSIS-2025-0012-0003 And this is the other proposed rule for pigs: https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/FSIS-2025-0009-0001 The US government wants the speed up the killing machine making factory farming even more torturous for pigs, chickens and the people whose job it is kill them. Now, In Defense of Animals is one group leading the charge to stop the speed up, along with a team of top flight lawyers from the Animal Law and Policy Institute at Vermont Law and Graduate School. Find out how they plan to stop the speed up!    The federal government's controversial plan to kill pigs and chickens even faster by speeding up the slaughterhouse line is a move that critics argue sacrifices both animal welfare and human safety for industrial efficiency and so-called economic benefits. These "high-speed slaughter" rules—recently advanced by the USDA—would allow plants to operate at breakneck paces, often outstripping the ability of inspectors and workers to do their jobs.  Here's the comment page for pigs: https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/FSIS-2025-0009-0001   💡 DONATION INFO & UNCHAINEDTV LINKS Thank you for watching! Exposed: Shocking Truth Behind New U.S. Food Pyramid

UnchainedTV's The Truth Files, tackles RFK Jr.'s New Food Pyramid—a dramatic reworking of federal nutrition guidance that critics say turns decades of independent science on its head. Released under the Trump administration, the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans are being condemned as adulterated with corporate conflicts of interest and questionable science. The new food pyramid places red meat prominently at the top, abandons clear limits on red meat consumption, promotes higher overall protein intake, and emphasizes full-fat dairy—despite longstanding evidence linking these foods to heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers. Now, a formal challenge has been filed in Washington. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has submitted a petition to the Offices of Inspector General at both the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services, calling for the Dietary Guidelines to be withdrawn and reissued. The petition alleges rampant industry influence by the meat and dairy industries and violations of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which is supposed to ensure federal health recommendations are free from special-interest control. According to the filing, eight of the nine authors of the scientific report underlying the Guidelines received funding or compensation from industry groups including the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, the National Dairy Council, the National Pork Board, and major food corporations. Joining us is Dr. Neal Barnard, president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a board-certified cardiologist, and a leading voice in preventive medicine. Dr. Barnard warns that while the new Guidelines acknowledge saturated fat should be limited to no more than 10% of calories, they simultaneously urge Americans to prioritize meat and dairy—two of the largest sources of saturated fat in the American diet. Recent research published in Annals of Internal Medicine once again confirms that saturated fat raises LDL cholesterol, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Barnard calls this influence what he describes as a "cholesterol cartel" that has distorted federal nutrition policy for decades. PCRM has previously sued over conflicts of interest in the 2000 Dietary Guidelines—winning in federal court—and has challenged similar issues in the 2010, 2015, and 2020 guidelines. Also joining us is Chloë Waterman. Senior Program Manager at Friends of the Earth U.S. Friends of the Earth, which has issued a forceful condemnation of RFK Jr.'s New Food Pyramid. FOE warns that rejecting science-based recommendations to shift toward plant-rich diets could fuel higher rates of chronic disease and increase exposure to toxic chemicals concentrated in factory-farmed meat and dairy. You Won't Believe This Epic Vegan Thanksgiving from the 19th Century

History was made and rediscovered on November 22nd, 2025! That's when  about one hundred guests gathered in Philadelphia for a truly unique celebration — The 1890s Vegan Thanksgiving Gala. This living history banquet transported attendees back to the Golden Age of meatless meals, with ragtime music, mocktails, vintage gowns, and delicious plant-based dishes adapted from original 19th-century vegetarian recipes. Beyond its pageantry, the event was a tribute to the enduring roots of the plant-based movement in America — a philosophy far older than many realize. In this episode of the UnchainedTV Truth Files, host Jane Velez-Mitchell is joined by two powerful voices in the plant-based movement: Seth Tibbott, creator and founder of Tofurky, and Anne Dinshah, CEO of the American Vegan Society. Together, they reflect on the gala and examine the long, rich history of veganism in the U.S., from its early visionaries to its contemporary resurgence. 3 decades ago, Seth Tibbott brought veganism into the cultural mainstream with his launch of Tofurky — a groundbreaking product that forever changed the way Thanksgiving could be celebrated. But, more recently, he was shocked to discover that, way back in the 1890's, vegetarians were whipping up alternatives to eating actual turkeys. The Chestnut-Eggplant "Turkey" served at the gala paid homage to meatless recipes of that long bygone era, a dish that got rave reviews. In all, almost a dozen chefs joined forces to help veganize and modernize different vegetarian dishes from over a century ago.  Anne Dinshah's connection to this legacy runs deep. Her father, Jay Dinshah, was a foundational figure in the rise of veganism in both America and the world. In 1960, Jay founded the American Vegan Society, which became a beacon for compassionate living, plant-based education, and nonviolent values. His wife, Freya, also played a major role in its growth, spearheading decades of vegan outreach, publishing, food-prep demonstrations, and community-building.  Together, Seth and Anne explore the deeper truth: veganism in America is not a fad, but a deeply rooted ethical and cultural movement. From the founding fathers to modern-day galas, this conversation reveals how history and vision continue to shape a more compassionate future. Puppy Justice Wins! -- Beagle Rescuers NOT GUILTY

In a stunning and historic development for the global animal rights movement, the defendants in the second Animal Rising beagle rescue trial in Cambridgeshire, England, have been found NOT GUILTY. The verdict marks a dramatic reversal from the first trial connected to the same campaign, where a separate group of activists were convicted—sending shockwaves through advocacy communities worldwide. This case centered on the rescue of beagles from a breeding facility supplying animals for laboratory experimentation. Beagles, known for their gentle temperament and trust in humans, are among the most commonly used dogs in animal testing. For years, campaigners have argued that these facilities operate behind closed doors, shielded from public scrutiny, while animals endure lifelong confinement and suffering. The acquittal is being hailed as a major victory for animal rights, not only because it frees the defendants, but because it sends a powerful signal: juries are increasingly willing to scrutinize the moral and ethical dimensions of laws that criminalize compassion while protecting institutional cruelty. The contrast between the guilty verdicts in the first trial and today's not-guilty outcome underscores a growing public unease with the criminalization of nonviolent rescue efforts. Now, we are bringing you LIVE analysis and insight from one of the most influential figures in the modern animal rights movement—attorney Wayne Hsiung, founder of Simple Heart and co-founder of Direct Action Everywhere. Wayne is widely regarded as the founder of the Open Rescue movement, a strategy rooted in transparency, nonviolence, and the moral conviction that rescuing suffering animals is not a crime, but a duty. Wayne Hsiung brings a rare and deeply informed perspective to this moment. In the United States, he was convicted and served time in connection with open rescue actions—cases that helped ignite international debate over animal protection laws, whistleblower suppression, and the legitimacy of civil disobedience on behalf of animals. His legal battles have shaped the movement and forced courts, lawmakers, and the public to confront an uncomfortable question: when laws protect cruelty, is breaking them an act of justice? As the world watches the implications of this UK verdict ripple outward, we are honored to speak with Wayne Hsiung LIVE about what this decision means—for the defendants, for future animal rescue actions, and for the rapidly evolving legal and moral landscape of animal rights worldwide. This is not just a court ruling. It is a turning point. For more, visit: https://www.animalrising.org/ 💡 DONATION INFO & UNCHAINEDTV LINKS Thank you for watching! UnchainedTV is a 501c3 nonprofit. Why Music Icon Moby Is Praising Chicken Rescue Defendant Zoe Rosenberg

As the defense begins its case, Moby tells UnchainedTV that Chicken Rescue Trial defendant Zoe Rosenberg is in the company of Cesar Chavez and Martin Luther King, Jr. Now it's the Defense's turn as the Chicken Rescue Trial of 23-year old animal cruelty investigator Zoe Rosenberg enters its 16th day. It's a case that's riveted the nation. Some say it's also putting industrialized animal agriculture on trial. Members of the animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) have attended the trial daily to support Rosenberg and her legal team, which includes Chris Carraway of the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project and Kevin Little. The San Francisco Chronicle reports, "Some of those spectators were in tears when Little showed the jury a picture of the 'condemnation pot,' which he said is where all chickens Petaluma Poultry deems not suitable for human consumption end up. He went on to display video of chickens flapping their wings as they hung upside down in a slaughter line." Rosenberg faces about half a decade in prison after rescuing 4 chickens from a truck at the slaughterhouse in June of 2023. The total value of the chickens has been estimated at $24. It's not known how much this trial will cost taxpayers as it enters its 5th week in Sonoma County, California. Music icon Moby is now praising Rosenberg, comparing her to historical social justice figures who faced imprisonment for their ethical beliefs. "When you look at history, the number of people who've been where she is, the number of people who have been arrested and persecuted for their ethical beliefs, she's certainly in good historical company," Moby told UnchainedTV reporter Michelle Celestino adding, "She's in company with Cesar Chavez and Martin Luther King, Jr. and on and on and on, like with the suffragettes, like so many people who've been arrested for doing the right thing." Moby expressed sympathy for Rosenberg, saying, "I don't know if there is any comfort in that, but she's certainly on the right side of history." The first defense witnesses expected? Fellow Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) member Rocky Chau and animal care expert Carla Cabral. Cabral reportedly took care of the 4 chickens Zoe rescued (named Poppy, Ivy, Aster & Azalea) and is expected to describe their condition around the time they were taken off the slaughter truck. Zoe has said they were visibly ill and suffering, adding that her repeated attempts to get law enforcement to investigate the slaughterhouse were ignored, sparking her decision to undertake the rescue. The defendant and Direct Action Everywhere claim chickens are sometimes boiled alive at the facility due to the high speed nature of the killing process. The defense team also asserted that about 4,000 chickens were crammed into the slaughter truck from which the 4 chickens were removed. The company in question, Perdue-owned Petaluma Poultry, denies the animal cruelty allegations insisting it has high animal welfare standards and calling Rosenberg and DxE extremists with a radical agenda.  The company is invited on any time. UnchainedTV is providing daily live coverage of the trial with a team of attorneys, analysts and reporter Matthew Zirbel live at the courthouse. 💡 DONATION INFO & UNCHAINEDTV LINKS Thank you for watching! Why They're Prosecuting a Woman for Rescuing 4 Chickens

Zoe Rosenberg Chicken Rescue Trial: Week 2, Day 5 – Jury Still Not Seated as Judge Warns Trial May Stretch Into Late October As Week 2 of the landmark trial against animal rights activist Zoe Rosenberg begins its fifth day, the Sonoma County, California courtroom remains deep in the jury selection process — with no jury yet seated. Judge Kenneth Gnoss addressed the potential panel, cautioning that the trial could last 6 weeks, and acknowledged the significant hardship this imposes. Over 80 jurors were questioned both Thursday and Friday, with a large percentage claiming hardship, underscoring just how difficult seating a jury is proving to be. Rosenberg, a Direct Action Everywhere animal cruelty investigator, affirms she took 4 chickens from a truck at Petaluma Poultry's slaughterhouse, calling it a rescue of sick and suffering birds undertaken after repeated calls for law enforcement to investigate evidence of animal cruelty were ignored. A pivotal series of pre-trial evidentiary rulings last week could heavily shape the outcome. Most notably, Judge Gnoss ruled that the defense is prohibited from introducing any of Direct Action Everywhere's animal cruelty investigations prior to May and June of 2023, stating that it would be "unduly confusing" for the jury, except for the rescue of Rose. Rose was the single chicken law enforcement allowed to be rescued from a massive Direct Action Everywhere open rescue action in 2018, a chicken Zoe cared for and who has become a symbol of the open rescue movement and the namesake of Rose's law, a proposed bill of rights for animals. The court also rejected testimony from a proposed witness who would have detailed unsuccessful attempts to involve law enforcement in addressing animal cruelty allegations. Defense attorney Chris Carraway objected on the grounds of Rosenberg's right to present a legal defense, to which Judge Gnoss dryly replied, "I note your continuing objection to the entire trial." Meanwhile, the prosecution lost on some key points. They are barred from referencing Measure J (a proposal to phase out animal factory farms that was defeated by voters in Sonoma County, where the trial is taking place) or the DxE investigation manual during their case-in-chief — though these may be brought up if Rosenberg takes the stand and her testimony opens the door. Despite legal friction on both sides, a witness order was finally agreed upon: alleged Co-conspirator Raven Deerbrook, vet tech Carla Cabral, veterinarians Dr. Sherstin Rosenberg (who is also Zoe's mother) and Dr. Daniela Castillo. According to the criminal complaint, Rosenberg allegedly entered Petaluma Poultry four times and rescued the 4 chickens on one visit. As part of the conspiracy charge, it is alleged GPS trackers were placed on 12 farm delivery vehicles. Supporters from Direct Action Everywhere insist these actions were driven by moral urgency and supported by legal rights under California's rescue and animal cruelty laws. The company involved has denied all allegations of animal cruelty and has called Direct Action Everywhere an extremist group with a radical agenda to end animal agriculture. The company is invited on any time to comment further.  The trial is already shaping up to be a defining moment for open rescue, constitutional rights, and how far activists can go to expose alleged cruelty in factory farms. Now, UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell discusses the case with an expert panel and reporter Johnny Mora LIVE at the courthouse.   💡 DONATION INFO & UNCHAINEDTV LINKS Thank you for watching! Day 1 of Chicken Rescue Trial

The long-anticipated trial of animal rights activist Zoe Rosenberg is finally starting in Sonoma County, California, and UnchainedTV is the only news organization providing live, gavel-to-gavel coverage of this historic criminal case. With the potential to reshape how animal rescues are viewed under the law, this case has galvanized activists, legal scholars, and the general public alike. And now, all eyes are on the courtroom. At the heart of the case are 4 rescued chickens named Poppy, Ivy, Aster, and Azalea.  Zoe Rosenberg, an animal cruelty investigator affiliated with Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), faces one felony conspiracy charge and three misdemeanors, including two counts of trespass and one count of vehicle tampering. The charges stem from a 2023 open rescue in which Rosenberg removed those four chickens - whom she said were very sick and suffering - from Petaluma Poultry, a Perdue-owned factory farm in Northern California. She and her legal team argue the rescue was a direct response to ongoing, unaddressed, systemic animal cruelty she says violate animal cruelty laws.  The case has gotten coverage in the New York Times, which reported, "Ms. Rosenberg, 23, says that she found chickens at Petaluma Poultry covered in scratches and bruises, including some with high fevers and serious infections. There was also evidence, she said, that birds were being scalded alive, instead of killed before boiling, because the slaughter lines were moving too quickly."  The company denies those allegations and has called DXE an "extreme group" with a "radical agenda." UnchainedTV invites the Perdue and Petaluma Poultry on to respond further at any time.  UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell will anchor live coverage from the network's studio, with reporter Johnny Mora at the courthouse, plus a panel of attorneys and experts who will provide real-time commentary and context as the proceedings unfold. Among the expert commentators are Shaka Smith, a respected attorney and legal analyst; Christina Ku, known for her work in animal law; and Justine Block, who brings a sharp lens to matters of civil disobedience and justice. Adding a powerful emotional and ethical perspective is Renee King-Sonnen, a former cattle rancher who transformed her property into a sanctuary for farmed animals, plus former law enforcement investigator Tiffany Brunelli. Their combined expertise will ensure UnchainedTV viewers understand every critical development, motion, and courtroom twist. Could this case set a legal precedent for future animal rescues? Just one of the questions swirling around the trial.  Adding to the drama is Rosenberg's recent hospitalization related to her lifelong struggle with Type 1 diabetes. As day one of the trial begins today, questions remain about whether she will be well enough to appear in court. Still, her legal team is expected to move forward vigorously. Rosenberg's legal team, which includes Chris Carraway of the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project and California-based attorney Kevin Little, is expected to mount a defense rooted in Rosenberg's belief that her actions were both necessary and legal. As legal arguments unfold, broader questions emerge: Can factory farming practices be put on trial through the actions of a single rescuer? Will the public and jury see Rosenberg as a criminal—or a heroic whistleblower? With emotional stakes running high, passionate support from fellow activists, and legal arguments that could ripple far beyond this one case, the trial of Zoe Rosenberg is shaping up to be a landmark moment in the animal rights movement. And thanks to UnchainedTV's team-led coverage, audiences around the world can witness history in the making.   💡 DONATION INFO & UNCHAINEDTV LINKS Thank you for watching! The time has come!  Please sign this petition:  https://bit.ly/Stopfireworks In California alone, 10 people died around the July 4th, 2025 holiday, including a tragic blast in Buena Park that killed an eight-year-old girl and the catastrophic warehouse explosion in Northern California that claimed seven lives. A Simi Valley man also died and a house caught on fire when fireworks exploded. A man was also killed in Pacoima when fireworks exploded, sparking a fire. Others were injured.  -Fireworks can release clouds of toxic metals and particles.   -The bright flashes and concussive booms drive animals to abandon nests and habitats. -At Marina del Rey, over 100 pelicans disappeared overnight after the sanctioned July 4th fireworks. Egrets, cormorants, and seals also vanished from the area. All have been slow to return. "Fireworks traumatize and displace wildlife. They are neither harmless nor fleeting," The New York Times (NYT). -More pets go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year (RSPCA). - Dogs and cats perceive these sounds as life-threatening. Heart attacks, injuries,  escape attempts, and days of anxiety are common. - For veterans of war and survivors of violence, fireworks are more than loud—they are unwanted re-enactments of trauma. Now, let's hear from some leaders in the growing movement to transition to safe, fun, modern drone and light shows. CDC Under Fire: TB Monkey Crisis

In a dramatic press conference held in Washington, D.C., outside the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, PETA raises the alarm on a shocking and largely hidden public health threat: the importation of tuberculosis (TB)-infected monkeys into the United States for use in laboratory experiments. This eye-opening event features crates of shrieking "monkeys" and humans in hazmat suits to highlight the grave biosecurity risk involved—one that has remained dangerously under the radar for far too long. PETA's new investigation alleges that monkeys imported from Asia and Africa have been quietly bringing TB into U.S. research labs for years, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) doing little to stop it. PETA says, from 2021 to 2024, 69 cases were detected while the monkeys were in quarantine, with another 16 after the monkeys were sent to laboratories. However, PETA says the CDC tested only 107 animals—an alarmingly small sample from the nearly 100,000 monkeys imported during this time period. Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, a former primate researcher and PETA's Senior Science Advisor for Primate Experimentation, calls the situation a ticking time bomb. She condemns the CDC's lack of oversight and alleges that the agency has ignored repeated warnings about the risks. According to PETA, the CDC relies on voluntary data from importers, allowing infected monkeys to slip through the cracks and enter high-security laboratory environments—putting both humans and animals at risk. PETA says this biosecurity crisis is revealed in a report by the CDC itself, which PETA says confirms that TB-positive monkeys have been imported into the U.S., posing a serious threat to public health and safety. PETA's urgent call to action is: end the importation of monkeys into the United States immediately. The organization highlights not only the public health implications but also the moral and scientific flaws in continuing to use primates in research. In the face of preventable zoonotic disease transmission and outdated animal testing models, PETA urges a transition toward modern, humane, and science-driven alternatives. Now, we will get the latest from Dr. Jones-Engel herself, as PETA confronts government inaction and demands immediate policy reform to safeguard lives—both human and nonhuman. Read PETA's full report here: https://shorturl.at/o7mMi Watch the entire news conference here: https://watch.unchainedtv.com/peta/videos/peta-news-conf-tb-in-monkeys Plus, we get the very latest on the battle to stop a massive laboratory monkey breeding facility in Bainbridge, Georgia. Little Red Bans - This could be the decade's most important book.

Little Red Barns is a book that needs to be read by every journalist, influencer, politician, CEO and consumer. Investigative journalist Will Potter spent years going from "factory farms to international climate summits, from Congressional hearings to neo-Nazi fascist groups" to expose the ugly, hideously cruel, environmentally devastating truth about animal agriculture. The book shatters the quaint fantasy of happy animals frolicking in Little Red Barns that so many cling to in order to avoid changing their eating habits.  Get the book NOW:  https://www.amazon.com/Little-Red-Barns-Hiding-Truth/dp/0872869148 Says the Washington Post, "The book is a lucid indictment of a food system whose normalization of cruelty on a staggering scale is rivaled only by the tightly controlled, government-sanctioned regime of non-transparency that enables it." And, it's sustained by a "decades-long campaign by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Congress and their corporate-ag sponsors to consolidate production and squeeze out small farmers…"  Will Potter is an award-winning investigative journalist and author, and a leading international voice challenging attacks on civil liberties in the name of fighting "terrorism." Will was the first investigative journalist to be named a TED Senior Fellow, and has addressed governmental bodies including the U.S. Congress, Australian Parliament, and Council of Europe. He is the author of Green Is the New Red, which exposed the FBI's targeting of environmentalists as "terrorists." His new book, Little Red Barns: Hiding the truth from farm to fable, is a 10-year investigation of factory farms and fascism. UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell is thrilled to speak to this heroic journalist. The Truth Files w Jane Velez-Mitchell: How Bird Flu Has Shut Down A Massive Egg Operation!

A catastrophic bird flu outbreak has forced Hickman's Eggs—the Southwest's largest egg producer—to halt most operations for two years after losing more than 6 million birds to the avian influenza virus. This egg industry crisis underscores the vulnerability of industrial animal agriculture to disease outbreaks. Now, Animal Outlook, a major animal rights organization, is publicly calling on Hickman's Family Farms to transition out of animal agriculture into "more sustainable, ethical, and innovative practices." The move comes amid growing consumer interest in plant-based egg alternatives and cruelty-free foods. Animal Outlook's Executive Director, Ben Williamson, says this is a wake-up call to end what he describes as a cruel and unsustainable industry:     "This is great news for chickens! A two-year shutdown of Hickman's Eggs represents a victory for the hens who would have been crammed into the company's imposing sheds and reduced to egg-producing machines, and for the millions of male chicks who would have been ground up alive or suffocated simply for being born the wrong sex in an industry that has no use for them." Williamson added:     "We urge Hickman's to use this time to consider a transition away from animal agriculture… Plant-based egg alternatives are rapidly gaining popularity and offer a viable path forward—one that aligns with consumer demand for cruelty-free, environmentally friendly products. At Animal Outlook, we stand ready to support farmers and companies in making this transition. The closure of Hickman's Eggs isn't just a business disruption—it's a chance to build a food system that doesn't depend on cruelty to animals." Hickman's Family Farms is invited to comment and respond to these calls for change. UnchainedTV has reached out seeking comment.  Joining UnchainedTV's Truth Files with journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell are Animal Outlook's Ben Williamson and Our Honor's Dr. Crystal Heath, a veterinarian and animal welfare advocate who is leading efforts to end cruel mass animal killing practices during disease outbreaks. This unprecedented shutdown could accelerate the momentum toward sustainable, plant-based egg replacements and spark a larger conversation about the future of industrial egg production. 🎙️ About Your Host Jane Velez-Mitchell is an award-winning journalist, TV producer, and New York Times bestselling author who created UnchainedTV, the world's leading streaming TV network dedicated to the plant-based lifestyle, vegan living, and animal rights advocacy. UnchainedTV's Truth Files: 5 Landmark Wins for Animal Rights You Need to Know

Welcome to this special episode celebrating five historic victories for animals and animal rights. From groundbreaking court decisions and landmark labeling laws to courageous ocean activism and inspiring wins at the ballot box, these triumphs are transforming animal welfare across the globe. First up, in the United States, the Supreme Court has denied the Iowa Pork Producers' appeal against California's Proposition 12. This is a major victory for farmed animals. Prop 12 bans the cruel confinement of pigs in tiny gestation crates—so small the animals can't even turn around or scratch themselves. With California ranking as the world's fourth-largest economy, this precedent is expected to speed up the end of these inhumane practices across the nation and beyond. In Switzerland, a groundbreaking law just took effect on July 1st. Meat and dairy products must now be clearly labeled to show how the animals were treated. This empowers consumers to make informed, compassionate choices and highlights practices like castration or dehorning without anesthesia. Over in Iceland, there's breaking news from ocean activist Captain Paul Watson. Thanks to his direct action campaigns on the high seas, no whales will be killed there this year—a monumental win for marine life. Closer to home, vegan animal rights champion Harvey Epstein has won his New York City Council race in the Democratic primary, effectively securing his seat. He'll proudly represent the East Village and bring a strong voice for animals and social justice to city government. And finally, Renee King-Sonnen of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary and her husband Tommy are leading Variety Magazine's America's Favorite Couple contest. Your vote can help them win—and shine a spotlight on farm animal sanctuaries. Just head to americasfavcouple.org and show your support. To celebrate, we're joined by four of America's most passionate animal advocates: Renee King-Sonnen of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary, Simone Reyes of Social Compassion, Chris Green of the Animal Legal Defense Fund, and UnchainedTV's own Jane Velez-Mitchell, who will lead this inspiring conversation. Truth FIles with Jane Velez-Mitchell: Why This Vegan School Has a Beef with Uncle Sam

Welcome to UnchainedTV's Truth Files, the podcast where we explore groundbreaking stories in plant-based nutrition, school food reform, and compassionate living. Today's episode takes you inside Solid Rock Community School in Florida, one of only two schools in the entire United States to offer a 100% plant-based lunch program. At Solid Rock, lunch isn't just a midday break—it's a movement for student health, sustainability, and animal welfare. Award-winning journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell sits down with Solid Rock's Founder and Director, Michele Fasnacht, to uncover the inspiring story behind this pioneering school's fight to serve healthy, dairy-free, plant-based meals to every student—despite outdated federal policies that still require dairy to receive funding from the National School Lunch Program. 🌱 The Dairy Dilemma Even though nearly 68% of people are lactose intolerant, U.S. school lunch rules still mandate dairy with every meal. For kids who can't digest lactose, that carton of milk can mean stomach pain, discomfort, and serious digestive issues. Solid Rock has taken a bold stand by serving fresh, chef-prepared, fully plant-based meals without dairy or animal products. But because of this choice, they lose about $4 in government reimbursement for every meal—a huge financial challenge when nearly half their students come from low-income families. 🥗 A Vision for Healthy, Compassionate Meals "At Solid Rock, we believe every child deserves nourishing, compassionate food," says Fasnacht. Their professional chefs prepare meals daily using whole foods, vibrant produce, and ingredients harvested from the school's own garden. For many students, this is their only reliable source of fresh, plant-based nutrition. 💪 Fighting for Policy Change Solid Rock is working to gain an exemption from the National School Lunch Program that would reimburse their dairy-free, plant-based meals. If approved, it could create a model for other schools nationwide to follow—redefining what's possible in public education and school nutrition. 💚 How You Can Help Your support can make a direct impact: $7 feeds one student for a day $35 provides a week of lunches $140 covers one month $1,260 sponsors a full school year Any amount helps keep this life-changing program going. 👉 Donate here: https://solidrockcommunityschool.org/donations 🌟 A Message of Change "This isn't just about lunch," Fasnacht says. "It's about equity, health, and creating a more compassionate world—starting with our kids." Tune in to hear how Solid Rock Community School is inspiring a nationwide conversation about healthy school meals, plant-based diets, and food justice. 🎧 Listen now on UnchainedTV. UnchainedTV: Another "Fairlife" Milk Animal Cruelty Scandal Erupts!

Another shocking new animal cruelty scandal has erupted involving milk suppliers to Fairlife, a billion-dollar milk brand owned by Coca Cola, sparking calls for a boycott. Animal Recovery Mission, ARM, has released gut-wrenching footage from 2 Arizona dairy farms supplying milk to Fairlife.  A 6-month ARM investigation found "egregious and frequent" animal cruelty with animals being hit, dragged, whipped, shot, shoved, force-fed and chained at two Arizona farms. Click below to see the undercover video for yourself. Warning: It's graphic. https://animalrecoverymission.org/operations/factory-farm-division/operation-fairlife-arizona/ Click here to view the boycott petition: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/boycott-fairlife-and-demand-an-end-to-dairy-cruelty/ This follows previous cruelty scandals involving Fairlife. One ARM video, released in 2019, involved an Indiana Fairlife dairy supplier that sparked headlines, protests and lawsuits. In 2022, Fairlife owner Coca-Cola and other parties agreed to pay $21 million to settle lawsuits for falsely advertising that their Fairlife ultra-filtered milk came from humanely treated cows. Fairlife then proclaimed that, "animal welfare is and will always be a top priority" and that it had "significantly strengthened our animal care programs and processes since 2019″ through video camera monitoring, a third-party advisory board and more unannounced audits at supplying farms. On its website, Fairlife now makes big claims about its high animal welfare standards saying, "Caring for animals is a top priority at Fairlife, and it all begins with strong relationships with supplying farms." So, why the horrible cruelty uncovered by this latest undercover investigation?  Fairlife has announced it has cut ties with the two Arizona farms where the cruelty was videotaped. But, ARM founder Richard "Kudo" Couto says that's not enough. The Arizona Department of Agriculture is reportedly investigating as a new lawsuit is filed. Fairlife and Coca Cola are invited on any time to respond further. Now, UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell gets the inside story from ARM Founder Richard "KUDO" Couto and famed animal activist and podcaster Shannon Blair. UnchainedTV: Let's End Cruel Primate Experimentation Now & Forever!

A pitched battle continues in a small Georgia town where residents have vowed to stop a wildly unpopular plan to house a massive monkey facility. More than 30-thousand monkeys, destined for laboratory experimentation, would be housed there and residents are up in arms. PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is on the frontlines helping residents in their quest to stop the controversial facility. Meanwhile, PETA will also bring us the latest on the fate of the 43 monkeys who escaped from a South Carolina research facility back in November of 2024. All have now been recaptured but monkey escapes are just one of the many hazards of housing primates in residential areas. Of course, in the 21st Century, there is no reason to experiment on monkeys or any other animals. So, could the massive cost-cutting currently going on at the National Institutes of Health, the largest funder of animal experimentation, signal a shift away from torturing monkeys, dogs, cats, rabbits and mice in outdated experiments? Let's find out with our expert PETA panel. PETA's Amy Meyer and Dr Lisa Jones-Engel join UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell.

    UnchainedTV: Stop Live Animal Abuse!

BREAKING NEWS: Animal Outlook charges that laws against animal cruelty are not being enforced when it comes to live animal markets in the San Francisco area. Animal Outlook has conducted undercover investigations - complete with shocking video footage - and says it has documented "widespread abuse" it believes "violates California law."  The group says even though it's presented evidence and detailed solutions to help law enforcement do its job, it can't get them to take action and enforce the law. The alleged abuse involves turtles and frogs being cut open while still alive, which Animal Outlook says violates California law, which requires be animals be rendered unconscious or insensible to pain before death. We invite the agencies involved on any time to respond. Now, Animal Outlook's Executive Director, Ben Williamson, brings us the very latest in this interview with UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell. UnchainedTV: Wildfires, Bird Flu: How Government Subsidies to Animal Agriculture Fuel these Crises

As California reels from devastating wildfires exacerbated by climate change, another threat grows… Bird Flu. The New York Times warns that the possibility of a pandemic is "no longer remote."  At the core of these calamities? Industrialized animal agriculture, accelerating climate change and raising the risk of pandemics by exploiting animals in the food system through systemic overcrowding and cruelty. But, the destructive role of factory farming is being ignored by government and mainstream media. Now, Congress debates a new Farm Bill that will determine US government subsidies to animal agriculture for years to come. Here to discuss this web of interlocking catastrophes is Dr. Crystal Heath, the veterinarian founder of Our Honor, Free from Harm's Robert Grillo and TheirTurn's Donny Moss. UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell moderates.

UnchainedTV: VEGANUARY is in Full Swing! Why It's Your opportunity to transform!

Veganuary is here and it is arguably the most successful ongoing vegan campaign EVER! And, it's fun! Veganuary is simply an international campaign to encourage people to try vegan during the month of January, a month where millions of us are making vows to get healthier and in better shape. The campaign began with a kitchen table discussion in late 2013, as two vegans, Matthew Glover and Jane Land, brainstormed about their passion: waking people up to the many benefits of a vegan lifestyle. It started off small in January 2014 but quickly took off, exploding into a global phenomenon that has changed the lives of millions of people! Now, UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell gets the lowdown on THIS Veganuary from Sandra Hungate, Veganuary's U.S. Director. To join the party, visit: https://veganuary.com/ More about our guest: Sandra Hungate has been advocating against animal testing since she was a child. Sandra gave up meat in her early 20s and fully transitioned to vegan a few years later after learning about the dairy industry. Sandra has been working in marketing for sustainable living and eating for most of her career and started working at Veganuary in 2023. Now vegan for over 7 years, she dedicates her work and volunteer time to helping animals. UnchainedTV: Could Bird Flu Be the Next Pandemic?

Seems like the human race never learns. We just got through one massive, global pandemic that killed many millions of people. Now, fears surrounding Bird Flu are making headlines like: Experts Warn of Bird Flu Pandemic As Signals of Mutation Mount. That from ScienceAlert. SciTechDaily's headline reads: Alarming Mutation in H5N1 Virus Raises Pandemic Red Flags. The article goes on to say: "A recent study published in Science and funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has found that a single alteration in a protein on the surface of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus—currently present in U.S. dairy cows—could significantly increase its potential for human-to-human transmission." And, now, the USDA is going be testing cow's milk! NBC News reports: "The mandate targeting bulk milk transporters and dairy processors is meant to help identify herds that have caught the virus, which has spread among livestock." So, what happens when they find Bird Flu? They've already killed millions of exposed chickens by baking them to death in a cruel mass-killing process called Ventilation Shutdown!  Are they going to bake the cows to death too? Would it be too crazy to suggest that humans should just stop torturing and killing 92 BILLION ANIMALS for food every year in dangerously cramped industrial factory farming systems? Here to discuss is Free From Harm's Robert Grillo and Amber Canavan, PETA's Vegan Campaigns Project Manager with UnchainedTV host Jane Velez-Mitchell.
