Episode 10 Classic Time with Elizabeth Gaskell

Send us Fan MailNorth and SouthHere’s the book summary: Set in the mid-nineteenth century and written from the author's first-hand experience, North and South follows the story of the heroine's movement from the tranquil but moribund way s of southern England to the vital but turbulent north. Elizabeth Gaskell's skilful narrative uses an unusual love story to show how personal and public lives were woven together in a newly industrial society. This is a tale of hard-won triumphs-of rational thought over prejudice and of humane care over blind deference to the market. Readers in the twenty-first century  will find themselves absorbed as this Victorian novel traces the origins of problems and possibilities which are still challenging a hundred and fifty years laters: the complex relationships, public and private, between men and women of different classes. There are different perspectives in this story. Please remember that this book was published in the 1850's. Views of class, roles of men and women and other parts of society were different back then. I encourage you to have an open mind. This is a wonderful book and really fascinating.Link to Elizabeth's book: North and South (Wordsworth Classics): Elizabeth Gaskell: 9781853260933: Amazon.com: BooksLink to my first book Amaranth: Amaranth (The White Dragon): Davenport, Samantha: 9781639886128: Amazon.com: Books Are you an unknown author? Episode 9 Mihaela Balan Larsen

Send us Fan MailEverything Worth CountingHere’s the book summary: It's 1977 in Zimnicea Romania. An earthquake has reduced the home of ten-year old Alex to rubble, taking with it his father and his best friend. With their world in ruins and Ceausescu tightening his grip on a fearful nation, Alex's mother, Eva, must find the strength to protect her son and fight for a future beyond the confines of Communist Romania. Inspired by real events, this story captures the heartbreak of loss, the value of tradition, and the enduring hope of a migrant mother and son determined to build a better life from the ashes. The only thing I would warn about is about a natural disaster and the aftermath of one. It is not graphic in this story. There isn't too much bad language. Link to Mihaela's book: Everything Worth Counting: A Mother and Son’s Journey Beyond the Iron Curtain (From the Meadows of Izvoarele Book 1) - Kindle edition by Balan Larsen, Mihaela. Episode 8 Dinko Skopljak

Send us Fan MailThe StrandedBook summary: By the time the classified report is leaked to the public, it’s already too late. A horrifying pandemic has begun to spread, with ferocious speed, from Paris to the rest of Europe. The infected masses die quickly . . . but they don’t remain dead for long.As military forces are overpowered by the horde of undead, civilization as we know it is pushed to the breaking point. Those who remain uninfected rush the ports, hoping to escape the bloodthirsty beasts, desperate for some safe harbor.Fleeing Barcelona, a lone survivor makes the perilous journey to Mallorca. Once a vacationer’s paradise, the island is now the last refuge of a small but resilient community, and they welcome the newcomer with open arms. But the pristine, secluded landscape belies the dangers they face—from both the infected and one another. This is a zombie apocalypse and a thriller. I would safely put this at a 3.5, almost 4 sledgehammers for violence and dealing with a pandemic. Language is relatively clean. I would give it a 1.5 out of 5. Link to Dinko's book: The Stranded: A Zombie Apocalypse Novel (Anno Initium): Skopljak, Dinko: 9781039413160: Amazon.com: BooksLink to my first book Amaranth: Amaranth (The White Dragon): Davenport, Samantha: 9781639886128: Amazon.com: BooksAre you an unknown author? Manupulated and trained, she was molded into one of Valhalla's fiercest warriors. This is the tale of her younger years. Not much violence except mentions of war and training. It is not graphic. Otherwise, the kids and city will be in more danger than ever before. Can Abrams recover the children safely and go up against these enemies alone or will he endanger more lives than he ever realized? There is some strong language. Some violence: I give it 2.5 sledgehammers out of 5.Mentions of child abuse. It's not graphic, but if you're sensitive to that, you've been warned.Link to Jonathan's book: The Outside World, Book One: Werewolves of Landfall: Ems, Jonathan: 9781737914310: Amazon.com: BooksLink to my book Amaranth: Amaranth (The White Dragon): Davenport, Samantha: 9781639886128: Amazon.com: BooksAre you an unknown author? Can Neas stop her uncle's bid for ultimate power without losing those she loves?Romance: Clean. There is descriptions of death and some violence, but it is not graphic. Episode 3: Ashlyn Grace

Send us Fan MailMarked: Book 1 of the Ancestral WarBook summary: Two hundred years after the Humans fell to the Draconic, it seems all hope for equality may be lost. The only light in the darkness is a prophecy handed down by an absent goddess that promises peace and prosperity following the union of a divinely chosen champion from each warring race. Now the Marked have awakened and the race is on as they must find one another, accept one another, before the High Council can eliminate the only threat to their power for good.“If you didn't have bad luck, you'd have no luck at all.”I doubt my dad meant those words to be even half as prophetic as they turned out to be but alas, here we are. Tucked in the arm-pit of the Adrienic where anti-human sentiments were practically legendary in their cruelty, the High Council's announcement couldn't have come at a worse time. The Marked had awakened, the champion of the Human race was out there somewhere just waiting to fulfill the prophecy and claim their throne and here I am, a Clanless Human sporting a funky birthmark on my forearm and a bad attitude.I never would have guessed what it could mean. But it's hard to argue with the King of the Isles, especially when he shows off his own birthmark, the mirror image of my own. Now he's talking about mates and coups, and I've got a strange new magic that I have to figure out how to control before the High Council and their loyalists show up to wipe us off the map.Lucky?Hell, I'm just hoping I don't blow myself up before I can figure out how to save my family.Language: Potty mouths 3.5 trashcans out of 5Violence: 3 sledgehammers out of 5Spiciness: 2 chili peppers. There's some sexual tension and sexual harrassment in this story. If you're sensitive to that, this isn't the book for you.Link to Ashlyn's book: Marked: Ancestral Wars Book One: Grace, Ashlyn: 9798456008718: Amazon.com: BooksLink to my book: Amazon.com: Amaranth (The White Dragon Book 1) eBook : Davenport, Samantha: BooksAre you an unknown author?
