The Weekly Whats Update

Grant’s back!  And we are gearing up for a hot ass summer on The Block with a ton of new shows incoming as well as the HEAT!  I think we are ready for it… almost… We catch up on the last couple of weeks events and also get to talk all things DJing like our latest endeavors in the wonderful world of “people that make requests” (just a tip, don’t make one if it doesn’t make any sense with what’s already playing).  We have some signs posted in our venues know that politely ask to try your best to enjoy the night without having to bother the DJ doing their jobs.  Also another pro tip always make sure when you are leaving the clubs late at night to always have a buddy with you to get you to your car or you can always ask one of our Corner Bar security guards and they will gladly get you sorted for your safety. We have a very special guest in the studio with one of our favorite local minimal producers and friends SKYE coming through to let us know all the great things happening from her latest releases, upcoming shows, her latest production tools, and also lends her vast knowledge of producers to help the conversation stay on track with facts! Grant is gone this week taking a little break to recoup from his and Shauns trip to Movement Detroit.  Shaun was able to give us a little recap of some of his favorite highlights from the massive festival that took over Downtown Detroit for the weekend and we will catch up with Grant next week to get his take as well to round out the full recap. I get to chat a little about our recent trip to the 808 with my daughter and her mom and step dad thanks to Make A Wish Nevada.  What an amazing experience we are super grateful for we got to do so many amazing things including a last minute booking at Bar 35 from linking with the homies through my brother and partner DJ Shr3d (shout out the Hawaii connect DJ LV and Joseph Future!).  We had such an amazing time and cannot thank Make A Wish enough for giving us this opportunity. Grants gone!  But we have a very special guests sitting in this week who we get to chat with about all things happening after hours for his monthly event at EGO nightclub to EDC and then everything I’m between and coming after.  This week we have one our favorite producer/DJs in the hot seat the one and only Korsky.  The bois talk about his journey trough the days of trudging vinyl around to working the local Vegas DJ circuit all the way to the present grind doing it 100 and going the producer route and making his own originals. We are back finally after a much needed little break with Grant landing back in Sin City via Detroit and then going straight into Cinco de Mayo weekend shenanigans.  We finally get to all sit back in the studio and catch up on all the things as well as welcome two very special guests this week Brock G and A.C.esme in the hot seats talking all things Bodywork LV for their upcoming 5 year anniversary aka Bodyversary at Discopussy!  Also a big congratulations goes out to Ashe and her now wife for tying the knot this last week in none other than the Neonopolis itself!  We were more than stoked to sit down and talk about why they do what they do and how they view Bodywork as not just an event but a safe space for all to come and be themselves or even leave themselves at the door for a night and become anything their heart desires.   Much love to our LGBTQIA+ community and we are hoping to see many more events involving the culture on the radar in the upcoming future in downtown Las Vegas.  Also keep an eye out for the Bodywork compilation coming out in June, you will be able to download it via Bandcamp early on Sunday the day of the 5 year anniversary and its loaded with talent so make sure to check it out! We made it back from Coachella!  Shaun and I made a 24 hour full send Sunday of day 3 and it was quite the trip getting to squeeze in an entire day of festivities including some of our favorite acts of the moment!  This week we bring another Very Special Guest to the Corner Bar Studios with an OG of Downtown and around town the super talented and definition of an all around good soul Mr. Neek Lopez.  The founder of the grooviest party to hit Vegas, Paradise Fever Disco and a voice on the very popular 5on5 Podcast. Season 4 Ep. 8 Grant is back!  With all three of us back in the studio we catch up and chat about everything from the cold windy weekend we had to the tons of fun up ahead this month with The Block throwing it down once again for  St. Patrick’s day weekend! Grant is gone!  He’s still here in spirit but taking his seat this week is a long time friend and a longtime downtowner and all around dope dude Dana Anderson.  Dana is one of the originators of The I.S.I. Group (industry Supporting Industry) who have their hands in all things Art Mural with pieces spanning the entire city with some of the most renown artists in the city on the roster.  Chances are of you have seen a dope mural in Downtown Las Vegas or at any cool local bar/shop around town it might very well be an I.S.I. curated piece.  We get to dive a little into what Dana gets involved with in the city doing murals for new and upcoming place as well as OG spots around town that are still doing rad stuff as well as his side venture int he skateboard world making sick grip tape that you can find in most any local skate shops around town to now even the clothing giant Zumies.  We also dive into wats happening on the block this week with the return of Space Yacht coming to bang out La Mona Rosa’s Function One sound system, to another dope weekend on Fremont with events at Discopussy and We All Scream as well as all your favorite Corner Bar Spots. Season 4 Episode 2 We are back from a small hiatus, Happy Bday Just Shaun!  Take people bowling more. We are back for a new season!  Or maybe just episode 11… either way we are back and we have a lot to talk about… Sports, how old we are as DJ’s, this new generation of kids coming to the clubs, Grants amazing adventure in Detroit Rock City. Our weekend packed with getting right back to work for our residencies me fresh from Covid for the fourth time (wash ya hands people!)…. We are back! Go Knights Go! We jump right into the episode with a little bit of love for our Golden Misfits, The Vegas Golden Knights winning the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise History.  Congrats to our city for being so supportive and true to our team having a week long celebration of well deserved shenanigans.  We spent the entire first part of last week celebrating and partying our hearts out for the big win while also trying to juggle the normal residencies with some fun shows sprinkled in as well, it was quite a challenge rallying for the weekend but we made it. The weekend did not fall short of the weeks debauchery starting with Friday night at Discopussy with ourselves Fremont House Mafia kicking the weekend off proper and then moving straight in to Defected Records takeover on Saturday with Sam Devine and Riva Star bringing the most proper house to the Puss.  If you missed out on part one DO NOT sleep on party two this Saturday with Henry Romero and Lowsteppa once again taking over Discopussy for the entire night! Then we take a look at the bananas weekend ahead with a Zombie Beer Fest at Tripple B's, our sickly sweets and beats party at We All Scream, to our usual residency happenings. Then we follow up with Partyboi69 brining his insanity Friday to the Puss, and a Discopussy favorite VNNSA coming to throw down Saturday night for her residency.  We cap it off with a fun filled Sunday starting with brunch in the Arts District with some veteran house DJs throwing down at 18Bin right to a Sexy Trivia game night to start the evening off that rolls into one of our favorite house nights at Cheap Shot with the Rendezvous Vegas crew.
