The Weight of Souls
by Kacy Jung
In her late-twenties, Kacy Jung, who immigrated to the US from Taiwan, decided that she would pursue her lifetime dream of becoming an artist, despite being halfway through her PhD in biomedical science. Since then, through photography and photo-based sculpture, she continuously investigates and explores the idea of existentialism within the late capitalist era. The subject intertwines with the anxiety of being part of the disappearing middle class and her career identity. Now she wants to shift her lens onto other artists who have also experienced a career transition similar to her own.
