The Who Club Podcast - Episode 3: Circuit Breaker announcement / The Dalek Invasion of Earth review - Part 2 / Companion departures - emotional or reserved?
Hello, and welcome to the third episode of The Who Club podcast! We’d like to start with a quick PSA on a couple of points. The first is that, due to an unfortunate technical issue, the sound quality of this episode is not up to the same standard as our first two. We can only apologise, and despite our best efforts to clean it up, there are some issues in places. It might be worth listening through headphones, just to make sure you catch everything. We suspect the issue may have been due to post-recording conversion, and we hope to eliminate it for future episodes. The second note is that this episode was recorded before the BBC’s announcement on the 10th of June that the 2026 Christmas special has been cancelled. As such, there are a few references throughout that are now very outdated. Obviously, we will cover this news in full in the next episode, but as a heads-up, we wanted to let you know before you listen. Call the redundant references a ‘historical artefact’. :)In this episode, we’ll be discussing:* Who News: We talk about the announcements surrounding “Circuit Breaker”, the upcoming multi-platform Doctor Who event, starring Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor!* Classic Review: We continue and conclude our review of “The Dalek Invasion of Earth”, looking at explosion stock footage, the Slyther, and THAT ending!* Who Debates: Tying into our review of “The Dalek Invasion of Earth”, we discuss and debate whether companion departures should be reserved and chaste - or if an emotional send-off is the way to pay tribute to the show’s audience identification figures? We’d love to receive your comments and suggestions, so do please leave them below! The Who Club Podcast - Episode 2: Missing episode recoveries / The Dalek Invasion of Earth review - Part 1 / Does the Doctor work better as an 'older' figure?
Hello, and welcome to the second episode of The Who Club podcast!Thank you for all the feedback and comments on the first episode! We really appreciate it, and we hope you’ll stick with us!In this episode, we’re going way back to the 1960s:* Who News: We celebrate the return of episodes 1 and 3 of the 1965 classic “The Daleks’ Master Plan”!* Classic Review: We go right back to the early days of the show, and, marking the recovery of “The Daleks’ Master Plan”, we look at the first half of the 1964 serial “The Dalek Invasion of Earth”.* Who Debates: With a lot of excitement about the early days of Doctor Who, famous for making its lead character an old man, we ask if the Doctor works better as an ‘older’ figure - or is youth the key to a compelling incarnation? We’d love to receive your comments and suggestions, so do please leave them below!
