This week, our guest is an old friend of Jaqi's from the Seattle comedy world, who is swinging through town. Dan Carroll is one of the founding members of the Peoples Republic of Komedy, a group of comics that helped rejuvenate the Seattle comedy scene in the mid-2000s, and put the city's version of an alt-comedy scene on the map. He performs at both the Moore and Paramount Theaters in Seattle, as well as numerous national competitions and festivals including Bumbershoot, the Seattle and San Francisco International Comedy Competitions, The Original Las Vegas Comedy Festival, and Portland's Bridgetown Comedy Fest. Unfortunately, Jaqi has an uber-migraine this week, so we are podcasting from the dark. Appropriately so, considering the subject matter. We talk about the new abortion laws in Texas (yet another state for fetal funerals and cremations). We chat about Trump, and Alia shares her new daily activism routines (what numbers to call) that we can all learn from, and Dan mentions his plans to revolt. This week in studio is Von Decarlo. Von is the author of the book "Speak Fluent Man," which details the lessons she learned through her 10 year relationship with renowned comedian Patrice O'Neal. Cast on the first season of Temptation Island, she was voted off for being "too intimidating." She also appeared on daytime soap operas on ABC, as a talking head comedy series on BET and Centric, Essence Live, and is a regular guest trash talker on NBA radio, Sirius XM/ESPN. She is known to her twitter followers as Coach Von, and is obsessed with the NBA.  Von classifies herself as an anti-feminist feminist, so of course we had to get this badass bitch on the show. :) And boy did we cover a lot of ground. We talked about the Kardashians and the attitude of "blaming the victim," which of course leads us to a conversation about Trump. We take a moment to honor People Magazine's  sexiest man Dwayne the Rock Johnson, and hope for a new future president. Speaking of sexy men, Von has a theory about the maturity of NBA players and discipline.  We learn about Von's book and her sexual interests, before Von becomes enamored with Alia's life experience and we compare the business of comedy to porn. There are different forms of stalking that come from different types of stalkers depending on the relationship with the victim. For example, the rejected stalker will obsess over they're former lover, sometimes believing that they cannot live with out them. These types of stalkers tend to be very jealous, narcissistic, and persistent. Or there the resentful stalker, who believes they have been oppressed and/or humiliated by their victim and may see themselves as the victim fighting back. These types of stalkers tend to be irrational and paranoid. Needless to say, it's an interesting episode. We each talk about our own stalking experiences, and times we have actually stalked someone. We discuss how the internet makes it easier to stalk people and ways to know when you're being stalked and how we deal with it.
