Thee Talkers With Special Guest Ken W. Good

Episode 1 Season 4The Host: Joe, Remo, and Thee Gooch Send us Fan MailKen W. Good, Texas bail attorney and a board member of the Professional Bondsmen of Texas. Overview: Are electronic monitoring and no-cash bail policies putting public safety at risk? The debate has taken on new urgency following the recent case out of Houston, where Lee Gilley, a capital murder defendant accused of killing his pregnant wife, allegedly removed his ankle monitor and fled the United States.  He booked and boarded an international flight, ultimately reaching Italy before authorities were even aware he had gone missing. Gilley’s GPS device triggered a tampering alert on May 1.  But due to inconsistencies with Harris County’s after-hours monitoring protocols, including delayed communication between the monitoring vendor, Pretrial Services and law enforcement, no immediate action was taken.  In fact, it took roughly 60 hours before the court and prosecutors were even notified that he had fled. By that point, Gilley had already left the country. The case has raised serious questions about whether electronic monitoring systems are capable of preventing flight in high-risk cases or whether they function primarily as after-the-fact tracking tools.  It has also drawn renewed scrutiny to staffing and response gaps within Harris County’s Pretrial Services, particularly during nights and weekends when violations may not be acted upon in real time. The incident has now attracted attention from state leadership as well, with Texas governor Greg Abbott signaling support for future legislative efforts to tighten bail rules and address failures in electronic monitoring systems involving violent offenders and bail jumpers. Supporters of bail reform continue to argue that the issue lies not in the policy itself, but in implementation, funding and judicial discretion.  But high-profile cases like this one are intensifying public scrutiny and fueling a broader national conversation about whether current systems adequately protect public safety in cases involving violent defendants. Talking points may include:--  Whether electronic monitoring is a reliable alternative to detention for high-risk defendants--  The role judicial discretion plays in pretrial release decisions under no-cash bail systems--  Whether recent cases point to systemic flaws or failures in implementation--  How policymakers can balance reform efforts with the need to protect public safety      Don't Drink and Drive Support our podcastTip us : http://paypal.me/theetalkerspodcasthttps://www.patreon.com/c/theetalkerspodTip us: https://buymeacoffee.com/theetalkers4uTip us : https://cash.app/$TheeTalkers🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up? Two Brothers Talk, Work And Situations

Your bank balance can change in seconds, but getting your money back can take days or weeks, and that gap can wreck your whole month. We jump in with a real story about suspicious transfers, fraud stress, and the brutal reality of waiting on a “claim” when the missing cash is rent money. We also talk Wells Fargo and Chase experiences, why refunds feel stacked against consumers, and what you can do right now to reduce risk, from account monitoring to smarter card choices. From there, things get personal fast. We catch up on family life, grief, and how loss changes the day-to-day in ways you don’t expect. Then we swing the other direction into Disneyland nostalgia, ride memories, and that funny feeling when a simple day out reminds you that life can still be light. And because this is us, we don’t stay in one lane. We get into Los Angeles politics, corporate power, gas prices, and why so many people feel like the system protects institutions before it protects families. We wrap with pure 80s joy: Robin Williams memories, drive-in theaters, and a full collector breakdown of He-Man Masters of the Universe movie merch, popcorn buckets, scalpers, and the hard choices fans make when limited items sell out.If you’ve ever dealt with bank fraud, hated autopay, missed the 80s, or just want an unfiltered conversation that sounds like real friends talking, hit play.
