Episode 82 - The Howlers on The La's Self Titled Debut
For episode 81 I’m joined by Adam Young from The Howlers! It was lucky I caught Adam when I did, The Howlers are set to be VERY busy for the next 24 months. Their second album, Heavy is scheduled for release in October and the two singles to so far are easily their best work to date. But before that, they have their first stadium support slots and a truly mind melting number of their own shows in the diary which will keep them busy for a loooong time to come. I had so much fun talking to Adam about his love of The La's debut album, Oasis and Mod Culture. We also discuss the positives of smoking cigarettes, the madness of Fat White Family and the benefits to buddying up to your local vintage clothes store owner. It's available now on Islington Radio or wherever you find your podcasts.

Episode 81 - Preston from The Ordinary Boys - Blur, Parklife
The phrase "Mid 00's Icon" get's thrown around a lot on this podcast, but for episode 81, it may just be accurate, because I'm joined by a man behind some of the most joyous and fomative years of my skinny jeaned life. From the actual, literal Ordinary Boys - It's Preston! It was a total joy getting to spend time with Preston to discuss his career to date, being back on the road supporting Madness, his love of Blur's Parklife and a MASSIVE exclusive on The Ordinary Boys upcoming new album.Though I wang on about the MANY time I've cried my eyes out watching Blur, I think I just about kept my indie fan boy levels in check, but in 2006, my fandom was unrivalled! I must have seen The Ordinary Boys 10 to 15 times in the 00's, I was even an extra in the 9 to 5 video. It's a really fun episode and it's out now on Islington Radio or wherever you find your podcasts.

Episode 80 - Ivo Graham on Arctic Monkeys, Favourite Worst Nightmare
Calm, collected, commanding. But enough about me…Episode 80 is possibly the best episode of the podcast yet, I’m joined by comedian, podcaster, broadcaster, tall man and lover of all things orange - Ivo Graham! It was a DREAM to spend time talking with Ivo deep diving Arctic Monkeys’ iconic second album Favourite Worst Nightmare. Ivo and I have numerous bizarre indie connections. Like the time he conned me at a Confidence Man show. The time he went mute on me at Glastonbury and the time his face was plastered over the wall of a house I was viewing. Sound strange? Well it’s all true and it’s all covered in the podcast. Along the way, Ivo reflects on seeing Arctic Monkeys in 2007, the changing sound of the band across albums like AM, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, and The Car, plus memories of Bloc Party, Klaxons, Franz Ferdinand, The Maccabees, and more. It’s an indie dream and is basically everything I hoped this podcast would be.If you’ve ever stared longingly at a Reading and Leeds line up poster while dealing with the inevitable built on obsolescence of an iPod mini, have I got a podcast for you….

Episode 79 - Christopher Macarthur Boyd on Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino

I got to spend 70 minutes talking to one of my absolute favourite comedians in the country about one of my absolute favourite albums of all time. What a life!Tacos on rooftops, warp speed chic, zero gravity cigarettes, we discuss it all as we explore the songwriting, themes, lyrics, and legacy of one of modern music’s most misunderstood albums. Expect divise opinions, the joy of Alex Turner cosplay, music nostalgia and passionate discussion about Alex Turner, indie obsession and two men's love of one of the most fascinating artistic left-turns in music history. And just you wait and see who's on next weeks episode....

For episode 59 I'm joined by actor, comedian and social media sensation - Ed Jones! You'll be familiar with Ed's social media antics or maybe you'll know him from his comedic work with sketch group Crybabies. But if you've been following his work for long enough you'll know that Ed started his career in the arts as a John Mayer inspired singer songwriter. We get into all of it as we discuss Mayer's seminal 2006 album - Continuum while also asking the big questions, such as - "How much sex was Mick Hucknall REALLY having?"Best enjoyed with "a gentlemens' Guinness"

20 Years of Arctic Monkeys - MP3 Zip Files to Reading 2006
It’s the milestone every millennial has been fearing, but January 2026 marks 20 years since Arctic Monkeys released their debut album and (not be too hyperbolic, but…) EVERYTHING changed. In true James Murphy style, I can say “I was there…”So for this special solo episode of the podcast I run through my early Arctics experiences and the impact they had on me

Episode 57 - Chris Arnold - NOFX, Punk in Drublic
2025 was the best year of my life and it started in glorious fashion with Chris Arnold as a the first ever guest on the show. So what better way to kick off 2026, then by going full circle and welcoming back Mr Beatles Dub Club himself, it's Chris Arnold!!!!Chris's first appearance is still the most listened to episode to date and somehow, for some reason we did the unthinkable and managed to literally reach the top of Spotify's Music Podcast Chart. Mad!In this episode Chris and I get on the cans to discuss subcultures in suburbia, second hand smoke at Brixton Academy and kidnapping rock royalty. We also talk a little about NOFX's Punk in Drublic.Best enjoyed while graffitiing a school desk.Enjoy!

Christmas Extravaganza!!! - Movies, Songs, Food and all things festive with John Harbison
It's part 3 of the Harbison trilogy and don't all the best trilogies come in 3's?It's the most wonderful time of the year and for this special episode you can enjoy joy two particularly jolly men talk all things festive. You can hear me champion Taylor Swift while John bashes Home Alone. You can hear me champion Carly Rae Jepsen wile John questions the relevance of Brussell Sprouts in 2025.But you can also hear us hotly debate the cultural importance of pints on the 24th of December. It's a lot of fun and best enjoyed on the big telly between the Queens Speech and The Snowman while you argue with a racist uncle.

Episode 53 - Rick Blake from The Fullertons - Delta Sleep, Twin Galaxies
We've had to dig deep into the archives for this one....12 months ago, after being asked around 15 times, my very talented and dear friend Rick agreed to be a guinea pig for this podcast. We doubted if it would ever see the light of day, but the time is right and the time is now. So this weeks episode is basically a demo for what the podcast would become, despite the rudimentary interview techniques from me, there are some really funny moments shared between two guys that have been friends for nearly 20 years.Enjoy responsibly!

EMERGENCY PODCAST! Truck Festival 2026 Line Up Deep Dive
Truck Festival have possibly pulled the line up of the year for 2026.3 of my literal favourite bands of all time will be performing in that field in Oxfordshire and I can't wait to return to Truck with my friends and have a lovely, lovely time. So there's only one thing for it.... emergency podcast! In this episode, we look back at the lovely time we had at Truck 2025, look forward to all the glorious indie that awaits us at Truck 2026 and we alos discuss a truly impressive criminal operation that we were victims to at a Wombats gig in 2008.Also, annoyingly, we forgot to mention that Vanessa Carlton is on the bloomin' line up!!! That is going to be one of the moments of the summer and I can not wait to cry my eyes out to A Thousand Miles.Enjoy repsonsibly and stay safe.

Episode 51 - Amelia Bayler - Ministry of Sound The Annual 15
Episode 51 of the podcast is one I've wanted to happen for a while... it’s Amelia Bayler! Amelia is a creative force of nature in the world of music, comedy and musical comedy, and she effortlessly straddles the worlds of Nu Rave, French Touch and Chart friendly house bangers in her musical taste. It's the first time covering a compilation album on the podcast and the two of us have loads of fun deep diving this Ministry of Sounds, The Annual 15 from 2010 while Amelia also flys the flag for compilation albums as a whole. But if Ministry of Sound is not your thing we also discuss boobs, ordering drinks while gurning and Weight Watchers yoghurts.Best enjoyed while on ecstasy with the girlies.

Episode 50 - Sam McCann from Sprints - Bon Iver , 22, A Million
Episode 50 feels like a monumental occasion and it just so happens I've got a monumental guest to mark the big 5.0. From Irish Post- Punk noise makers Sprints, it's Sam Mcann! We recorded this episode just before show time at a landmark gig for the band at London's Troxy. The iconic venue was awash that evening in a wave of screaming guitars and cathartic chorus'. It was a hell of an evening...Anyone that's into hearing about Simpsons t-shirts, Ed Sheeran tattoos, face steaming and language barriers at music festivals will get a LOT out of this very fun episode. But most importantly, we deep dive Sam's relationship with the groundbreaking 2016 release from Bon Iver, 22, a Million. If Sprints two albums to date aren't enough to keep you satisfied, Sam does give a little tease about what Sprints fans can expect in 2026.Enjoy!

Episode 49 - Tony McCarroll from Oasis and Kyle Dale from Bittersweet Home
I have Oasis'd!When Propstore held the world's larger ever Oasis memorabilia auction at The Cumberland Hotel, Kyle and Tony were in town to take part in a Q&A happening ahead of the items going under the hammer.I'm a man of opportunity and was lucky enough to grab twenty minutes with the two of them to discuss all things from Boardwalk 94 to Live 25.Tony shared some great stories of his first drum kit purchase, the biggest compliment he's ever had for his drumming and the mad time he first met fellow Oasis drummer Zak Starkey. It's a break from the normal format and a bit shotter then normal, but it's a VERY fun one.Enjoy!

Episode 48 - James Allen from Cultras Football Podcast - LCD Soundsystem, Sound of Silver
"Who are ya?! Who are ya?! Who are ya?!"I'm William Hann, host of the podcast, "THIS Album..." thanks for asking. For episode 48 I'm joined by a man so passionate about football, he's actually created an award nominated podcast about it, from Cultras, it's James Allen!Jesus, where do I start?James, is a comedian, broadcaster, writer and actor and it was a joy to be welcomed into his home to discuss LCD Soundsytem's ground breaking sophmore album, Sound of Silver.Sound of Silver is widely considered to be one of THE seminal New York albums. In this humble podcasters opinion, it might just be the greatest album of all time. So this is a BIG episode. The album touches on hedonism, loss, friendship, growing up, gentrification, hipsterdom, escape, identity and it does all this with a level of gravitas and intelligence that was unrrivalled in the mid 00's or any era for that matter! So rather then discussing these things we talk about getting high on lemon sips, Liverpool's Ecru away kit in the 90's and regional table tennis tournaments on The Wirral. Best enjoyed home in the late night.

Episode 47 - Louise Schofield - Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
I can’t believe it’s taken 47 episodes to get here, but finally we get to cover Arctic Monkeys seismic debut album - Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. An album this important requires a great guest and I was in VERY good hands for this one. From Spill The Sound and behind the decks of the indiest of discos near you, it’s Louise Schofield!Louise’s content is a joy to behold. On Spill The Sound Louise gives a platform for young bands to have the kind of MTV / T4 experience that those a generation behind took for granted. It’s also, a proper laugh and loads of fun. Louise and I had such great time talking about the impact four lads from Sheffield had on us. We talk haircuts, drinking in parks, first gig confessions, pre drinks in Nottingham. All the important subjects. Untuck those socks from your trackie bottoms, believe the hype and enjoy episode 47 of “THIS Album…!”

Episode 46 - Felix White from The Maccabees - The Futureheads, New & Tributes
Well this is basically what this podcast nonsense has all been leading up to....Do I really need to introduce Felix White....?Amongst the MANY things that Felix does, he is in one of the very best bands to ever do it , The Maccabees. Getting to spend 60 minutes talking to a man who has had such a big impact on my life was a dream come true.Sure, a large part of this episode was me talking "at" Felix and telling him about the numerous times I've cried my eyes out at the countless Maccabees shows I've been to over the last 20 years. But we also talk Red Button anxieties, playing Latchmere when you're 50 and Oasis (naturally). Felix's album of choice is an underdog album from Sunderland's finest - The Futureheads. We have so much fun deep diving the often overlooked record that he so rightly champions.Felix is set to release his second book, Whatever Will Be Will Be - A Matter of Life and Football will be released on the 30th of October. If it's half as good as his previous book then this is going to be a very special read, so get that pre order in.It's available in some bad book shops and all good ones. You can listen to this episode at the link in bio or you can watch it on Youtube or Spotify, no need to take your Precious Time about it.

Episode 44 - Amy Matthews - Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
Episode 43 of the podcast see's me joined by the face of modern comedy and the voice of English history, it's Amy Matthews! This is definitely a top tier episode, Amy was an absolute joy to speak with and we had a LOT of fun talking about one of the best pop stars of a generation, the almighty Chappell Roan. But not just life affirming pop perfection, we also discuss Synesthesia, making scrambeld eggs with your partner and street dance. So yeah, we cover a lot of ground.Amy is about to release a genre-defying comedy album titled Commute with The Foxes on a gorgeous vinyl or classic MP3 via Monkey Barrell Records. You can catch Amy hosting the English Heritage Podcast and you can see her perform - I Feel Like I'm Made of Spiders on ITV X right now!Now if you need me, I'll be wearing a bodice, trying to learn the HOT TO GO dance while drinking port.Enjoy!

Episode 42 - Sam Delaney from Topflight Time Machine - Prince, Lovesexy
This is a BIG deal.Sam Delaney is Britain's TOP journalist and without a doubt, the nation's most prolific (and possibly best) podcaster. So I was in particularly good hands for this episode. The calibre of guests this last two weeks has been a dream, I've literally had the hosts of my two very favourite podcasts on the show, back to back. Where the fuck do I go from here?! On this episode Sam discusses his work life and the reward that comes from endeavouring to listen to challenging albums. But we also discuss, stealing Walkman's from a big brother, seeking musical approval from your kids, and we ask the big question, are girls from posh schools "dirty?"His album of choice was by the almighty Prince and we have blast discussing the myriad sexual references on an album that is supposedly about god. Classic Prince play...If you're not familiar with Sam's work, check out his work on Top Flight Time Machine and The Reset or pick up one his many remarkable books.Enjoy irresponsibly.

Ben RandM from Silver Tongued Rascals - LIVE Episode from West Hampstead Arts Club - Bloc Party, Silent Alarm
Part 2 of the first ever "THIS Album..." live show was a rollercoaster. It's fair to say that we got the Silver Tongued Rascals experience from Ben.We covered the big subjects like, giving a voice to the working classes, the ideal cornflake topping and mushrooms.LOTS of mushrooms talk.We also talk about one of the best albums of all time, Bloc Party and the truly seismic, Silent Alarm!Best enjoyed under the influence.

Jake Farrell from The Screen Rot Podcast - SPECIAL LIVE EPISODE from West Hampstead Arts Club - Mystery Jets, 21
Jake's second appearance on the podcast was something very special. 40 episodes in and by a country mile, that was the best one yet. Never one to be held back by the line of questioning, Jake and I touched on a wide range of subjects as varied as teenage money laundering, bringing back Mephedrone and "The Indie Rip."We even mentioned his choice of album a little bit, the glorious 2008 masterpiece by Mystery Jets, 21.Hugest of shouts to everyone that came out to the stunning venue of West Hampstead Arts Club last night. I can't tell you how much I appreciate everyone spending hard earned money and getting out of the house to support the culture. We go again, pencil 12th of December into the diary for the next "THIS Album..." live show.If you've not listened to Jake's podcast, Screen Rot yet, then sort your fucking life out and get involved.

Episode 39 - DJ Jimmy The Gent - Chase & Status, More Than Alot
There's no doubt about it, cut me and I bleed indie, but for episode 39 we’re delving into a new genre for the podcast….This show has allowed me to display my expertise and knowledge in all things 00's and skinny jeaned. But what was William Hann up to before he discovered The Libertines you may wonder....?Well I was either shacking out to DJ Hype and Brockie mixtapes on a casette walkman or double dropping Dillinja tunes with Total Science bangers on my brother's Technics 1210's. Yes, I was a proper Junglist and on todays episode I get to prove my D n' B credentials with a man that has been setting dancefloors alight since 2008, from the Depressed CEO Podcast it's Jimmy The Gent!Jimmy was a dream of a guest and I had so much fun inviting this total stranger to my hotel room to deep dive his emotional attachment to the debut album from Drum n' Bass pioneers Chase & Status. (what a sentence)We also discuss edibles in hotel mini bars, singing at record store staff to find a song and DJing to Gen Zers.

Episode 38 - Tom McGreevy from Ducks Ltd - Orange Juice, You Can't Hide Your Love Forever
This weeks episode see's me joined by the frontman of a Canadian band in the thick of a European tour. It's Tom McGreevy from Ducks Ltd!We have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs in this episode, but it's also the most anxious a guest has made me feel by a LONG way. Tom share's a truly incredible story about his band's first time playing a KEXP session....... honest to god, I'll be carrying the second stress of that experience for a long time to come!Tom's album of choice was an absolute joy to discuss. Orange Juice's 1982 debut was the blue print for so many of my favourite bands like The Maccabees, The Cribs and Mystery Jets, so there is much to discuss....We also talk 6 Music Dad's, Basshunter inspired Scottish bangers and of course, Lisa Vanderpump. If you've not listened to Ducks Ltd yet, they released their second album, Harm's Way, last year and it is an exhilarating masterclass in indie jangle. It's well worth your time. Ducks Ltd's European tour is winding down, but I was lucky enough to catch them in London this week, I can't recommend enough that you make your way to whatever city they're playing in next.Enjoy this episode, enjoy Orange Juice and enjoy Ducks Ltd!

Episode 37 - Mike Wagstaff from Chartreuse - Modest Mouse, The Lonesome Crowded West
With their second album Bless You and Be Well due for release tomorrow, I’m delighted to share that for episode 36 of the podcast, I’m joined by Mike Wagstaff from Chartreuse!Bless You and Be Well is a stunner of an album that was recorded in an incredibly remote part of Iceland by Sam Petts-Davis (best known for his work with The Smile) It see’s the band turn grief and trauma into a beautiful body of work. Mike was kind enough to invite me into his home to discuss the upcoming Chartreuse album and share his love of Modest Mouse and their breakthrough record - The Lonesome Crowded West.We also discuss The OC, underage drinking at Vagabonds, whammy bar techniques and paying Limmy to promote your band on twitch.Bless You and Be Well is released via Communion Records and is available at all good record shops or your streaming platform of choice from Friday the 29th of August. #Chartreuse#MusicPodcast#Podcast#ModestMouse

BONUS EPISODE! Oasis Special - Why Do Oasis Make People Feel So Emotional?
Something a little different today....It's been a glorious summer and watching stadiums full of Oasis fans in my social media feed has been an absolute joy to behold. On so many occassions, there's been fans (mostly men) crying their eyes out at these shows. Me included! So on this episode I wrote a few words asking why Oasis so often have me and so many other people crying their eyes out. There's a few contributions from listeners , but it's mostly a solo episode.I'm really proud of this change from the normal format and would love to know what you all think of it. Unless you think it's shit, in which case keep it to yourself. Haha! Oasis ain't all Poznans and pints of piss ya know.

Episode 35 - David Chanell from The Fullertons - Kings of Leon, Youth and Young Manhood
Oasis? The Maccabees? Rilo Kiley? Wuf Lyf? The Rapture? It's been a year of big come backs. But not one of them has the cultural heft of today's guest's truly massive comeback. In the mid 00's David Chanell took a Hertfordshire town and injected heavy levels of indie to a place that was dangerously negelected in skinny jean wearers. With his clubnight (and indeed his band!) back to business this Autumn, it only felt right to get David on the pod to hear about how his band, The Fullertons, went from playing Walkabout in Watford to playing shows in Moscow. He picked an almighty riff machine of an album and in this episode, we talk about finding your tribe in independent music venues (shout out to Trinity!),having big hair and questionable scarf wearing. If you're not a fan of the cigarette smoking Southern riff merchants, then at least listen for my truly absurd intro to this incredible album, where I imagine a world in which the fourth Kings of Leon album didn't exist...Enjoy irresponsibly.

Episode 34 - James C from The Oasis Podcast, Another Side of Bob Dylan
For episode 34 I'm joined by a man that is in the thick of the cultural zeitgeist, it's James C from The Oasis Podcast! They said it would never happen, they said it would never see the light of day, but the time is right - and the time is now. Finally, I'm releasing the first EVER episode of "THIS Album..." that was ever recorded.James and I recorded over Zoom on a Friday night back in November and though I was clearly a bit nervous recording my first podcast, James' broadcasting expertise shone through and we had a LOVELY time deep diving the folk masterpiece, Another Side of Bob Dylan.Yes, I know what you're thinking, "Mr Oasis choosing an album that isn't by Oasis....?!!" But James decided (understandably) to swerve the bus man's holiday and branch out into non Gallagher related territory. If you want to hear James talk about Oasis, I've got great news for you! He's got 8 years worth of episodes covering Manchester's finest, readily available wherever you find your podcasts.Hope you enjoy the episode, but please don't judge the host (me) too harshly, it was my first time hosting a podcast!Stay in touch, stay engaged and Stay Young.
