Throw in the Pal

Welcome to Throw in the Pal, a podcast where three mildly talented, majorly struggling actors attempt the impossible in looking for fresh material to mine for online discourse. And wouldn’t you know it, turns out movie’s are a thing, so that’s what we’re going with! Every fortnight, Frank, Marcus, and Tom bat about their opinions on a new film, trying to persuade each other that they have the hottest take in the room. It rarely gets violent, but it’s always a little silly. Enjoy Pals!

(To the tune of the Australian National Anthem) Odysseus led quite the courseHe sailed to foreign lands He hid inside a wooden horse While his men shit their pants They shit and shit and shit and shit Their pants were filled to burst Would they say that it was worth it Or they were darkly cursed? John Goodman - Short n Sweet

You think he's Good? Yeah, well, that's John like, your opinion, man.

    The Flinstones

Filmmakers in the '90s were so preoccupied with whether or not they Yabba Dabba could, they didn't stop to think if they Yabba Dabba should.

2026 so far... cinema is back?

What's the best thing about 2026? That there's 20 of them! Get it? No? Well maybe get along to the humour hospital and check yourself into the I-peee-yeeew, cos you've got yourself a seriously stinky case of the no-funny-bones, and my uncle died from that and it was hilarious! Anyway, 2026 has been a weird year for movies, come listen to us sorta talk about it a little, kinda.

    DIsclosure Day

Are the Pals gonna be all, "Dis-whoa-sure Yay!" or more like, "Dis-no-sure Way!" after watching this balls-to-the-wall, four-on-the-floor, don't-stop-til-you-drop, wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am powerhouse movie that honestly I'm sorta stalling here because I've forgotten the name of -- something to do with disco, could that be right? -- directed by Steven, I wanna say, Segal? Am I kinda close and, also, can anyone else taste pennies?

    Best Musician Turned Actor

What do you call an egotistical musician who secretly wants to be an even more egotistical actor? A pre-Madonna.

    Backrooms

Have you ever wandered into a strange space where everything seems a little off, like the furniture is wonky and strangely oriented, the lighting is disconcerting, there are people you sort of half-recognise and a tall, blurry presence off in the corner who seems to be in command of the weirdly liminal environs, and then everyone starts kissing as ABBA starts playing, and someone hands you a cup of something purple and you say, "I don't drink," and they say, "You are drink," and then they lick your face and Stanley Kubrick's there yelling something about how that's really gonna f$%k with the continuity, thanks a LOT, Carl! This movie is called Backrooms.

What happened to Christian Bale (In a good way) - Short n Sweet

What do you call it when a bunch of people start running en masse out of church and frantically renouncing their faith?

  9. 127

    Batman Begins

Why do we Pal? So we can learn to throw ourselves back into podcasting! This modern comic book classic shifted the paradigm, lifting this bat who crime fights to the heights of an all-knew manner of acclaim with a brand new grand design, not Banner but a Bruce of a different hue, a Wayne whose world wasn't big enough for both him and you-know-who, a Ghul of a different shape, a cruel kinda cityscape, a brooding Bale with a tooled-up cape, beginning in only the way that a bat can, man. Also, Katie Holmes.

Thor: Love and Thunder - Short n Sweet

What is love? Baby don't hurt me... don't hurt me... no Thor.

  11. 125

    Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarök is the story of a man attempting to come to terms with his dormant potential, when he has been doubted for so long by so many, coming as he does from a far away land where people dress and speak funny, abiding by odd customs and always seeming to stand out from the crowd, yet determined as ever to fight for the recognition he believes he is owed. His name is Taika Waititi, and this is the tale of the last time people thought he was funny or commercially viable.
