Thru The Chapters

Thru The Chapters is a one year Journey thru the text, Gonstead Chiropractic Science and Art by Roger Herbst. This text is the basic primer for anyone intent on learning the foundational concepts of Gonstead Chiropractic. This is a 52 week program designed to teach you fundamental concepts supported by Science, informed by Philosophy, and applied as Art. The 52 week format makes it so you can jump in anywhere and complete the journey from wherever you begin.

    In today's episode, we will begin the book "Who's the Doctor, Doctor". In this chapter, we will explore what the patients expect a doctor to be and how we should conform to that image.

    In today's episode, we will begin Chapter 6 on the Pelvis by looking at the basic elements that make up the Pelvis.  This includes the joint structure and anatomy, but it also includes the biomechanics of motion to understand the normal motion of the joint.

    Week 42: Extremity Corrections

    In today's episode, we conclude our journey through the Chapters by discussing extremity corrections.  This will include elbow, wrist, feet, and even the TMJ.  The book concludes by demonstrating the importance of non-spinal subluxations and their corrections.

    In today's episode we will conclude our discussion of Chapter 5 by talking about Stress Radiographs.  Stress Radiographs are not mentioned in the Chapters book, so this is a great way to learn about this additional tool that can be of tremendous value in your assessment of the patient.

    In this episode, we will begin our discussion of extremity adjustments.  We will do this by discussing the knee joint, which includes adjustments of the femur, tibia, and fibula.

    In today's episode, we will be looking at the proper technique for analyzing the radiographs.  The biomechanical evaluation of standing radiographs is unique to chiropractic and provides the information necessary to make a specific adjustment.

    In this brief chapter, we will be discussing the proper technique for adjusting the infant.  This includes modifications of the regular adjustment to accommodate the infant body.

    In today's episode we will begin Chapter 5 and a discussion of full spine Radiography.  Full spine x-rays are not only essential to the Gonstead work, but for any chiropractor who would attempt to address the biomechanics component of the Vertebral Subluxation Complex.  As we begin, we will discuss the proper procedure for taking accurate and valuable x-rays that give insight into each patient's unique condition.

    In today's episode, we will begin by talking about an important adjusting concept that is often ignored and leads to a lot of confusion.  We will then discuss Atlas corrections in both the seated position and on the knee chest table.

    In today's episode, we will be discussing the proper technique for adjusting lower cervical subluxations in the cervical chair.  This includes both doctor and patient positioning to create a proper correction.

    In today's episode, we will begin the chapter on lower cervical corrections by discussing adjustments on the knee chest table, which can also apply to the HiLo table as well.  These adjustments are intended to be very precise, so we will look at how to do them with precision.

    In today's episode, we talk exclusively about corrections on the knee chest table.  This includes proper patient set up and relaxation, as well as doctor stance and technique.  This is an important table for all Gonstead Chiropractors to use on a daily basis and it begins with a proper understanding of what to do and how to do it.

    In today's episode, we will finish our discussion of the Vertebral Subluxation Complex and how we can think about it scientifically. We will conclude the chapter by discussing different proposed mechanisms for how the VSC can contribute to lower health and adaptability.

    In today's episode, we will begin discussing Lumbar Corrections.  We will do this by discussing how we make these corrections on the pelvic bench.  Next week, we will discuss the same corrections on the knee chest table.

    In today's episode, we will discuss sacral corrections at the lumbosacral joint (base posterior sacrum).  We will also introduce the knee chest table and its proper application.

    The 1505 Club Rewind: Dr Danielle Gilbert, DMD

    In today's episode, we revisit a conversation I had with Dr Gilbert.  She is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and she has performed hundreds of lip tie and tongue tie procedures.  She also happens to be my wife, and I assisted her with all of those procedures.  In this conversation, we were able to talk about our shared experience and what we have learned about this unique space from the dental side of things.
