TAYLOR AND TRAVIS ARE ENGAGED! Big Loses at the US Open, An Apology to Carlos Alcaraz, TSITP S3E8

We discuss Jack Draper's withdrawal from the US Open due to arm pain, Coco Gauff's close R2 match against Ajla Tomljanovic, and how hot Tommy Paul looked as he breezed through his R2 match against Elmer Moller. We also issue a formal apology to Carlos Alcaraz re: our reaction to his hair. We realize now it was all an accident and that it's just hair and it will grow back. We gleefully skip our topic of the week yet AGAIN due to time constraints and bounce right into The Summer I Turned Pretty S3E8 aka The Episode They Finally Called Off the Wedding. While wrapping up discuss which one of us will take one for the team and watch KPop Demon Hunters, agree that we will both watch new ESPN documentary, The Kingdom, following the Chief's last season, and reiterate our excitement for the new Netflix film, Thursday Murder Club, based on the bestselling books.

US Open Mixed Doubles Special, Introducing: Alexa Says Something Nice About New York, Peltz Beckham Vow Renewal, Agdal Paul Wedding, Mariah Carey Press Tour, F1 Silly Season, and Sullivan's Crossing

In which we find one nice thing for Alexa to say about New York City and reflect on Sumner's visit. In pop culture, we discuss the mind-boggling decision of Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham to renew their vows just three years into their marriage, the horrifying spectacle that was Nina Agdal and Logan Paul's wedding in Como, Italy, and Mariah Carey's recent press tour. We spend 2 seconds on the news that William and Kate are moving house in Windsor (we find this unproblematic). In tennis we cover the men's and women's finals in Cincinnati, the big reveal of Vuori's new kit for Jack Draper, and then we go in-depth about our time in Flushing Meadows this week attending the opening arounds of the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship. This event has been tennis's own version of Love Island and we go into the gossip, the scores, and our thoughts on each of the day 1 matches. We touch quickly down in the world of F1 to discuss a few silly seasons spottings (Charles Leclerc in a kilt) and rumors (Christian Horner as Cadillac team principal for 2026). In content, Alexa shares her final review of all 3 seasons of Sullivan's Crossing. We also share what we're anticipating in the coming weeks: Thursday Murder Club and House of Guinness (both on Netflix).

A VERY SPECIAL EPISODE: Taylor Swift on New Heights, Gilded Age Season Finale, and The Summer I Turned Pretty S3E6

In which we eschew our normal format to cover pop culture's biggest news: Taylor Swift's appearance on the Kelce brothers' New Heights podcast. That's right, we are doing a podcast about a podcast! We discuss the unprecedented nature of this interview, what a good format it was for Taylor, and everything we learned from the 2-hour conversation. Elsewhere in girl world we cover the miraculous season finale of the third triumphant season of the Gilded Age as well as theories for next season. We wrap up with The Summer I Turned Pretty S3 E6 aka "One Scene with Conrad Makes This Entire Show Watchable."

  35. 53

The Girls are Fighting on the Far-Right, "Tinder Leave", Buying a French Château, Toronto and Montréal Tennis Results, Lewis Hamilton's Boring Announcement, TSITP S3E5, and Project Runway

In which we discuss Nashville'e Tomato Arts Festival, the far-right girlie influencer drama that has taken the internet by absolute storm (if you're listening with kids skip 18:37-24:48), Phoebe Gates's perhaps misguided strategy as a brand founder, "Tinder Leave" policies becoming common practice in workplaces in Asia, and a French policy (the viager system) that allows one to purchase real estate through installments paid to an elderly person still living in the home. In tennis was celebrate the amazing win of Canadian Victoria Mboko in Montreal at just 18 years old and the first Masters 1000 win for Ben Shelton in Toronto. We (Alexa) panic about Jack Draper losing another US Open Mixed Doubles partner in Paula Badosa and prognosticate what could become of him in regards to that event. In F1 we cover Lewis Hamilton's very lame 8/8 announcement (he is launching a mescal with his non-alcoholic tequila brand) and lament the latest photos of Pierre Gasly's hair situation. In content we react to The Summer I Turned Pretty S3E5 and Alexa shares her thoughts on newly relaunched Project Runway.Trying to Understand the Big Conservative-Influencer Fight by Olivia Craighead for The CutInside MAGA's Wildest Feud (Highly NSFW!) from The Bulwark (video)MAGA girls fighting explainer by @georgiejxmes on TikTokMAGA girls fighting explainer by @jackmackbarstol on TikTok

Transportation Corner: Higher Fares for Solo Travelers and Women-Only Rides on Uber, Legionnaires Outbreak in NYC, Toronto and Montreal Tennis Check-In, F1 Silly Season, US vs UK Topic of the Week: Gilded Age vs Downton Abbey, Gilded Age S3E7

In which we discuss our possible rebrand as a transportation podcast, the news that solo travelers are being charged up to 70% more for their fares on US-based airlines, and Uber beta testing women-only rides. This leads Sumner to share the experience of her worst Lyft ride ever. We also brainstorm how Alexa will avoid getting Legionnaire's disease now that there is an outbreak in New York. In tennis, we check in on the semifinals in both Toronto and Montreal while also noting that Djokovic has decided to withdraw from Cincinnati. In F1, we have begun silly season (AKA the official summer break when the rumors flow) and Lewis Hamilton made an announcement that he would be making an announcement on 8/8. We speculate about what the announcement may be. For the US vs UK topic of the week, we discuss the Julian Fellowes universe comparing Downton Abbey to Gilded Age, weaving in our reaction to Gilded Age S3E7 throughout.

  37. 51

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Watch Continues, The Presidential Fitness Test is Back in the US, Sydney Sweeney's Latest Misstep, the US Open Dating Show, the F1 Hungarian GP, and a Review of Oh, Hi!

In which we discuss the latest Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau sighting, the reinstatement of the presidential fitness test in the US (along with the gruesome cast of characters that turned up for the roll out), nice news for Chandi from DCC, and Sydney Sweeney's lastest scandal (buzzwords: American Eagle, eugenics). In tennis, we share our surprise that Coco Gauff has had a low-key boyfriend for 2 years, gush over Canadian Victoria Mboko's big win and great Wilson kit in Montreal, discuss the upcoming dating show taking place at the US Open, and check-in on how the Laver cup teams are shaping up. Over in F1, we mourn Charles Leclerc's fate at the Hungarian GP, discuss Alexa's unlikely turnaround on Lando Norris's new girlfriend, and ponder Oscar Piastri's improbable modeling career. We end with Sumners review of the new Molly Gordon and Logan Lerman film, Oh, Hi! (spoiler: it was great).

  38. 50

Pamela Anderson + Liam Neeson (YAY) and Katy Perry + Justin Trudeau (NAY), The Final US Open Mixed Doubles Entrant List, US vs UK Topic of the Week: Tipping, The Summer I Turned Pretty S3E4, and Trading Book Recs

In which we discuss the fabulous news that Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are "officially" dating and the farcical news that Katy Perry and former Canadian PM Just Trudeau were spotted having dinner together in Montreal. We review the (near) final entrants list for the US Open’s Mixed Doubles Tournament (which we will be attending) and theorize about the two teams that have yet to be announced. For the US vs UK topic of the week we tackle a listener submission: tipping culture and how that impacts dining out in America vs Europe/the UK. In content, we rant against both Belly and Jeremiah while praising every other character in The Summer I Turned Pretty (#teamconrad #teamstephen #teamtaylor #teamanyoneelse) plus Alexa presents a theory about what may become of Conrad in the future. Sumner provides her review of Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid (meh). On a happier note, we trade recommendations of recent reads that we’ve really enjoyed. For Alexa, it’s Retreat by actress Krysten Ritter and for Sumner its small-town mystery, The Good Ones by Polly Stewart. In closing, Sumner asks that both Alexa and the listener watch the trailer for A24’s Eternity (starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and THE Callum Turner). Retreat by Krysten RitterThe Good Ones by Polly StewartEternity Trailer

In which we discuss Alexa’s pleasant NY subway experience, the next chapter of the Coldplay kiss cam saga (enter Gwyneth Paltrow as temporary Astronomer spokesperson), more painful Dua and Callum photos, and the AMAZING news that the Gilded Age has officially been renewed for season 4. In tennis we discuss the DC open as well as some coaching changes for major players and in F1 we review how truly boring Spa was this past weekend. The real sports news this episode comes from England’s Lionesses who dispatched with Spain to win the Women’s Euro Finals this weekend. In content, Alexa cannot in good conscience recommend The Hunting Wives on Netflix but we turn it around by covering another banger from the Gilded Age (S3E6).

  40. 48

Dua, Callum, and the Wales Family on Vacation, Macron Lawsuit, Harry Styles's New Product Launch, Sinner Brings Back His Old Physio, US vs UK Topic of the Week: Road Safety, TSITP S3E3

In which we apologize for being tardy with this episode but don't regret it due to all the "news" we have to discuss. We cover Dua Lipa + Callum Turner's latest vacation photos, William and Catherine's well-deserved family vacay in Greece, the Macrons' lawsuit against Candace Owens, our shipping of Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson, and Harry Styles's latest product launch. In sports we react to Sinner's rehiring of a physio involved in this doping scandal and the official news that Jack Draper has dropped out of the mixed doubles tournament at the US Open. Ferrari appears to disappoint again as the Belgian GP commences. Our topic of the week is really Alexa's diatribe against bikers and scooterers in New York but, for the sake of argument, we will call it "Us vs UK: Road Safety." In content we cover the VERY grim 3rd episode of season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon.

  41. 47

Mercury in Retrograde (Positive), Heathrow Security, A Dawson's Creek Reunion, Coldplay Kiss Cam Fallout, US Open Mixed Doubles News, Gilded Age S3E5, TSITP Content, and Streaming Soap Operas

In which we discuss the excellent news (for Sumner) that Mercury is in retrograde, airport security at home and abroad (we are looking at you Heathrow terminal 5), Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson's feature film link up, and the continued fallout from the Coldplay kiss cam drama (including a bunch of fake news). In tennis we quickly on a smattering of news including significant withdrawals from Toronto, Bublik's win in Gstaad, and updates around the US Open Mixed Double's Tournament. F1 had another off we but we continue to pray at the altar of Ferrari. In content we discuss this week's action-packed episode of the Gilded Age (glimmers of hope for our girl Aurora), Sumner's companion viewing (Downton Abbey from the beginning), ancillary content to The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Alexa gives us as rundown of Netflix's slate of modern-day soap operas (Ransom Canyon, Virgin River, Chesapeake Shores, etc.).

  42. 46

THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY IS BACK! Water Aerobics, Emma Watson's Driving Ban, Coldplay Concert Affair Scandal, Tommy Paul and Paige Lorenze Engagement, FIA Presidency Election News, US vs UK Topic of the Week: Vacation Days, TSITP S3E1-2, Gilded Age S3E4

In which we discuss Alexa's new computer, Sumner's first stab at water aerobics, Emma Watson's 6-month driving ban in the UK, and the kiss cam unearthing of an affair at a recent Coldplay concert. In tennis, we lament Tommy Paul's engagement to Paige Lorenze and also the announcement that Ons Jabeur is stepping away from tennis. In F1, there is an update in the FIA presidency race as well as more rumors about the future Mercedes driver lineup. In a huge week for content, we share our reactions to the long-awaited season 3 of The Sumner I Turned Pretty on Amazon based on the books by Jenny Han (episodes 1 and 2 are out now). This is SOLIDLY a team Conrad podcast. We finish with our beloved Gilded Age, talking all things Gladys, Peggy, Aurora, and, of course, we celebrate our entrepreneurial king, Jack Trotter.

  43. 45

Tech Chat, The NYPD Budget, More Lauren Sanchez Derision, Wimbledon Wrap-Up, F1 Rumors, and More Dept. Q

In which we say there is no news to discuss but end up discussing the NYPD's astronomical budget (classic us). Sumner can't help from sharing the latest in the Chris Hughes-JoJo Siwa nightmare and Alexa surfaces the rumor that Lauren Sanchez lost out on the original Birkin, which was up for auction this week. In tennis we discuss both scores and gossip from the final weekend of Wimbledon including, of course, the Wales family outing (minus Louis) on Sunday. The rumor mill is still grinding away in the world of F1 especially when it comes to Max Verstappen's possible move to Mercedes. We wrap with Sumner's final review of Dept. Q season 1 as well as some sh*ttalking Charles Fane from the Guilded Age for good measure.

  44. 44

WE ARE BACK! Fashion From The French State Visit to The UK, All Things Wimbledon, All Things F1 and F1 The Movie, Gilded Age S3E1-3, Dept. Q

In which we apologize for our unplanned multi-week summer break and discuss the incredible fashion from the Macrons state visit to the UK. We, of course, go over all things Wimbledon (scores, spectators, AND gossip). The world of F1 is finally giving us PLENTY to talk about again so we touch on: Christian Horner's axing from Red Bull (effective immediately), what that could mean for Max Verstappen, and a theory about Toto Wolff. On top of that, we have on-site reporting from Alexa who attended Silverstone in the Ferrari paddock last weekend. We also give our reviews of F1 The Movie both as fans of F1 and as fans of movies. We wrap by continuing to sing the praises of the Gilded Age from HBO (escapism at its best) and Sumner plugs Dept. Q on Netflix starring Matthew Goode.

  45. 43

Mamdani Hive Rise, More Sanchez-Bezos Nuptial Derision, Bad News Re: the FIA President Race, F1 The Movie Promo, America's Sweethearts: DCC Season 2, Us vs UK Topic of the Week: Cheerleading vs Hooliganism, James Bond News

In which we discuss the results of the New York Democratic mayoral primary, the bone-chilling pap photos from the Sanchez-Bezos pre-wedding foam party, and the bad news that Carlos Sainz Sr. is not going to run for FIA president after all. We touch back down on the F1 The Movie continued promo including Brad Pitt's unique style choices. Our tennis check-in is brief as the tours get ready for Wimbledon. We discuss the second half of Netflix's America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and use our enthusiasm for the subject to fuel our US vs UK topic of the week. We share theories as to why the US has cheerleaders and the UK doesn't but, in the inverse, the UK has a robust hooligan culture that the UK lacks. In content we encourage everyone to watch the Gilded Age on HBO which came back for season 3 this week. We will be covering it week to week! We end on the mid-recording news that Denis Villeneuve has been tapped to director the next James Bond film. Link to the very absurd TIkTok that Sumner got the giggles over (Alexa did not find it funny)

  46. 42

Why Do Men Spit in Public, New York Mayoral Race, Pre-Wimbledon Tennis, Shipping Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz, America's Sweethearts: DCC S2

In which we discuss the current state of New York City through the eyes of Alexa, why men of all walks of life are socialized to spit in public, and the New York mayoral Democratic primary race. Tennis takes us to the UK and Germany where we check in on the lead up tournaments before Wimbledon. We loudly share our support for the currently unfolding Emma Raducanu/Carlos Alcaraz showmance? romance? We speak at length about America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders S2, which is now streaming Netflix, trying to uncover if it is sinister, soothing, or something in between. Sumner recommends miniseries Toxic Town, also on Netflix, starring Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood, and Claudia Jessie. She also recommends the DC Morgan detective book series by Clare Mackintosh.

  47. 41

No Fun News Worth Discussing Except We Talk About Huma Abedin and Alex Soros's Wedding Anyway, F1 the Movie New York Premiere and Terrible Red Carpet Fashions, Updates from Grass Season, Topic of the Week: Building Our Dream Mixed Doubles Pairings, Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Outrageous on Britbox

In which we discuss the fact that all of the news of the week is too serious and scary to talk about. We toss out ideas of what we could touch on but reject them all except for the Abedin-Soros Democratic Party Royal Wedding in the Hamptons this past weekend. In tennis we touch on some surprising grass season results (Sinner v Bublik! Coco falls!) and go over the structure of the relaunched mixed doubles "tournament" planned for the US Open. We react to each of the entered pairings and, in a departure from our usual US vs UK topic of the week, we build out our dream mixed doubles pairings, drafting from current players. This is a tennis heavy episode and we aren't mad about it! In content, Alexa shares an update on Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Sumner gives a review of the first two episodes of "Outrageous," a historical flight of fancy about the infamous Mitford sisters (currently airing on Britbox in the States and UKTV in the UK).

  48. 40

Traitors US S4 Cast Reaction, Trooping the Colour, The WTA's New Fertility Policy, Queen's Women's, F1 Canadian GP, Ferrari Strife, The Better Sister, Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and The Accountant 1 + 2

In which we discuss the final cast list for Traitors US season 4 and Trooping the Colour (including Princess Catherine's fashion, Prince Louis in trousers, and Price William's current grooming choices). In the world of tennis we react to the WTA's amazing new policy around protected rankings for players undergoing fertility treatments, a record-breaking win by German player Tatjana Maria at Queen's, and our lack of excitement for Men's Queen's. F1 takes us to Montreal for the Canadian GP where Lewis Hamilton is distraught over maybe hitting a groundhog, George and Max come in p1 and p2 (worst case scenario), and team Ferrari appears to be quietly quitting. Alexa shares spoiler-free thoughts on the Celine Song's newest film, The Materialists and a rave review of The Better Sister on Amazon Prime. We head back into the world of reading with Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid and share our belief that she writes perfect summer function. Sumner shares her thoughts on her double-feature experience with The Account 1 and 2.Prince George Tells Prince Louis to Quit Waving

  49. 39

More Harry Potter Casting News, More Acquisitions in the Beauty Industry, Gigi Paris Comments on Glen Powell Breakup, The Pitbull Live Phenomenon, Harris Dickinson STUNS in New Rhode Campaign, New Sinner Girlfriend Rumors, Nervous Feelings About Jack Draper, Verstappen Penalty Points Revisit, US vs UK Topic of the Week: Knighthood and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Ginny & Georgia, and Trailers of Note

In which we discuss our excitement around some new Harry Potter TV series casting news, Gigi Paris's Interview on the Too Much Podcast covering her breakup with Glen Powell, the phenomenon of attractive young women dressing in bald caps to go see Pitbull in concert, positively arresting images of Harris Dickinson in the latest Rhode campaign, the latest rumors about Jannik Sinner's love life, our nerves around thigh expectations placed on Jack Draper as we head into Wimbledon, and a revisit of what's at stake for Max Verstappen now that he has 11 penalty points. For the US vs UK topic of the week, we discuss the concept of knighthood vs the presidential medal of freedom (which Sumner called the congressional medal of freedom the entire episode, sigh). We also touch on Alexa's aversion to central air conditioning. In content Alexa reviews Ginny & Georgia Season 3 and gives her final verdict on Mobland. WE finish with the Wicked: For Good and The Summer I Turned Pretty S3 official trailers.

  50. 38

The Girls Are Fighting, Sabrina Carpenter's Well-Timed Release of "Manchild," Live Reactions to Lola Young's "One Thing," Wrapping Up the French Open (Mens and Womens), One of Them Days, Mobland, and Love Hotel

In which we discuss the reason for Sumner's gross voice and our shorter than average episode, the blissful we had on the internet while Tr*mp and M*sk were fighting, Sabrina Carpenter's latest single, "Manchild," which couldn't have come at a better time, our reactions to Lola Young's sexually daring single "One Thing," and the double-standards in audiences responses to explicit music. On the sports front we react to the most recent "10 Hottest Men in Professional Tennis" poll and we cover both the women's and men's finals at Roland Garros including Sabalenka's disappointing remarks in the post-match presser and one of the best matches we've seen in our lifetime: the besting of Jannik Sinner in a 5-set tiebreaker by Carlos Alcaraz. On the content front, Sumner has finally watched One of Them Days starring Keke Palmer and SZA (now available on Netflix) and shares why it was the perfect film for her to watch this weekend. Alexa provides her long-awaited initial review of Mobland (Paramount+), and we end with a surprising recommendation: Bravo/Peacock's Love Hotel.
