    Earl Traveler Makes Coffee

Send us Fan MailWelcome to the podcast! Today we're headed back to Camp Bee for another adventure with everyone's favorite Sojourners, Earl and Pearl Traveler. Most of us have volunteered for a job that seemed simple enough at the time. After all, how difficult could it be? That's exactly what Earl thought when he volunteered to make coffee for the Thursday night potluck at the Lodge. The old coffee maker had been replaced with a state-of-the-art machine loaded with buttons, menus, voice controls, and enough technology to launch a space shuttle. What followed was a hilarious lesson about counting the cost before taking on a task and appreciating the friends who come alongside us when things become more complicated than expected. So grab a cup of coffee, preferably one brewed by someone other than Earl, and enjoy today's story, "Earl and the Coffee Machine From the Future."Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee. Earl and Pearl at the Catfish County Church of Christ

Send us Fan MailIn today's episode, Earl and Pearl find themselves in a place called Catfish County, serving alongside retired Marine Bob Diseker and his wife Deannie, as well as David and Sheila Little. Their destination is a small country congregation with about fifteen faithful members, many of whom have worshiped together for decades. The work list looks familiar enough: painting, repairs, maintenance projects, and a few surprises hiding in places where nobody has looked for years. As always, Earl brings plenty of enthusiasm, a little confusion, and just enough confidence to keep things interesting. Yet during this Sojourn, Earl and Pearl discover something important. Sometimes the greatest contribution we make has less to do with hammers and paint brushes and more to do with encouraging faithful people who have quietly served the Lord for many years. Join us as raccoons scatter, signs lean in unexpected directions, devotionals touch hearts, and a little church in the country reminds everyone that some of God's greatest work happens through simple acts of encouragement.Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee. Earl and Pearl's First Sojourn

Send us Fan MailToday we join Earl and Pearl Traveler as they embark on their very first Sojourn. Excitement is running high as they arrive to help prepare for Vacation Bible School at the Friendly Church of Christ. For Earl, the week brings an extra honor as he serves as a first-time Co-Team Leader alongside Team Leader Larry Little. Along the way there are paint projects, repairs, decorations, new friendships, a missing screwdriver that wasn't really missing, and plenty of opportunities to serve.Yet as often happens on a Sojourn, the most important work has very little to do with tools, paintbrushes, or classroom decorations. It begins with a simple conversation, grows through kindness and encouragement, and leaves a lasting impact on a young boy named Buddy, a searching family, and everyone who witnesses the power of caring for others.Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee. Send us Fan MailIn this episode we’re taking a lighthearted ride through one of life’s most relatable adventures... forgetting the little things.Whether you’ve ever driven off with the power cord still plugged in, left the antenna up, or discovered somthing else you forgot, you’re in good company.   Earl and Pearl are back, and this time, their first official Sojourn rollout from Camp Bee becomes a rolling reminder that sometimes the smallest oversights can create the biggest memories. But beyond the laughs, today’s story also points us toward something deeper. In our walk with Christ, it’s often not the giant failures that trip us up first. More often, it’s the little neglected things... a skipped prayer, an unopened Bible, an unkind word, or a blessing left unnoticed. So buckle up, double check the checklist, and join us as we laugh, learn, and remember why both on the road and in faith, the little things matter more than we often realize.Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee. Are We Hoping For or Hoping In

Send us Fan MailWhat happens when what we’re hoping for… doesn’t happen? In this episode of Travel With A Purpose, we explore the powerful difference between hoping for something and hoping in Someone. Drawing from 1 Peter 1:3–5, we’re reminded that while our circumstances may change, our hope does not have to.It’s natural to hope for better days, restored relationships, or answers to prayer. But when our hope is tied only to outcomes, it can feel fragile and uncertain. God offers something deeper, a living hope anchored in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.Join us as we discover how shifting our focus from what we’re hoping for to who we’re hoping in brings stability, peace, and confidence—no matter what we face.If you’ve ever felt discouraged when the journey doesn't unfold the way you expected, this episode will gently remind you: your hope is not lost… it’s secure.Because true hope isn’t found in outcomes, it’s found in Christ.Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee. Send us Fan MailOur official name is, "National Evangelism With Sojourners".  Notice the core of our name, "evangelism".  It is who we are, what we do, and our purpose for traveling.  Unfortunately, sometimes we forget.  In this episode I want to remind us about the important role we have as sojourners to carry the hope of Christ with us.  I'll also offer a few simple ways we can evangelize without ever preaching a sermon or leading a devotional.  It's something all of us can and must do.Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee. A Conversation With Myron Bruce ~ Singing With The Spirit

Send us Fan MailMany of you will remember Myron Bruce from our Sojourner's fall workshop at Camp Bee.  This is a conversation I had with him recently for my podcast, Our Journey to Hope.  I thought it would be good for our Sojourner's podcast, Travel With a Purpoese. It’s always exciting to speak with someone who has found their place in life and are using it to help others.  That’s the idea behind this podcast.  How can we use what we’ve been given by God to help others as they discover, sustain, or regain hope.My guest in this episode is Myron Bruce.  Myron uses his knowledge and talents to help us grow in hope through song.  We’ll discuss how important it is for our hope, spiritual growth, and support for one another.  Even if you are not someone who has a great singing voice, you will enjoy what Myron has to say.  It may even cause you to bust out in song. I encourage you to go to Myron's web site and learn more about him.  The website is:  https://singingwiththespirit.com.   You can contact him directly by email at:  [email protected] Myron is available to travel to congregations or groups to guide them as they strengthen and deepen their worship to our Lord through song.  It isn't a singing workshop.  It is a growing in spirit and truth through our songs workshop. Myron has written two excellent books about our use of singing in our worship to God and our edification of each other.   One is titled, "This is My Song".  The other is:  "The Splendor of Worship".  They are available on Amazon or through his web site.Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee. The First Concrete Mile

Send us Fan MailWhen I was a child, we had city streets that were paved but once you left the city you probably found more dirt roads than paved roads.  I also remember as a young boy that a lot of dirt roads would be coated with an oil substance to hold down the dust in the summer.  I remember how we enjoyed walking on the newly coated road and making oily footprints.  Our parents weren’t too happy about it.Now, although we continue to find dirt roads, even rural roads are usually paved.  In this episode I want to look at the story behind the story of how using concrete for paving began.  I hope you’ll join me on this “road trip”.Support the showIf today’s episode has resonated with you or helped you in any way, and you’d like to support the show so we can continue to bring you new and free content, I’ve set up an account on Buy Me a Coffee.
