    S5 Ep. 23: Imposter Patterns w/Renee

Send us Fan MailEver shrink in meetings you’ve earned a seat at? Here’s why and how to stop that imposter pattern.Imposter syndrome isn’t just a feeling; it’s a reflex you’ve trained yourself into. Studies show about 70% of people will experience it at some point in their lives. In fact, even 75% of female executives have faced it, questioning whether they truly belong in their roles. But remember, this feeling arises from past experiences—like conditional belonging in your family or workplace. The good news? Patterns can be broken! Here are 5 strategies to overcome imposter patterns:1️⃣ Name it to tame it. Labeling your feelings reduces their emotional charge.2️⃣ Build a credibility file. Document your wins to remind yourself of your capabilities.3️⃣ Reframe failure as iteration. Every mistake is a step in the learning process.4️⃣ Talk about it. Sharing your feelings with someone can dissolve their power.5️⃣ Act before you feel ready. Confidence grows from action. In summary, you belong in that room. Your voice matters! Speak up, even if it’s uncomfortable. Let’s break the pattern together.Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show. S5 Ep. 24 - Compensation and Value with Anna

Send us Fan MailLet's talk about the one thing that makes the world go round.Yes, let's talk about money.More specifically, let's talk about compensation and value. Before we begin, here's this week's question:Are you being paid and recognized for the value you create? Many professionals think compensation is simply their salary or hourly wage, but compensation is much broader than that. Compensation includes bonuses, commissions, equity, retirement contributions, healthcare benefits, paid time off, flexible work arrangements, professional development, company vehicles, and other perks that create your total rewards package. The challenge is that many people know what they earn, but very few know what they are truly worth. And here's the reality: organizations don't pay for effort alone. They pay for impact. The more clearly you can articulate the value you create, the more effectively you can advocate for the compensation you deserve. The highest-paying offer is not always the highest-value offer.Understanding compensation starts with understanding yourself. What do you need financially? What kind of lifestyle are you trying to create? How much time are you willing to invest? What sacrifices are you willing to make? And perhaps most importantly, what sacrifices are you unwilling to make? One of the most overlooked opportunities to discuss compensation doesn't happen during the hiring process at all.It happens during your mid-year and annual performance reviews. This week's action:Document your measurable impact, research your market value, and identify one opportunity this quarter to advocate for yourself—whether that's during a performance review, a compensation conversation, or while evaluating a new career opportunity. The goal is to maximize alignment between your compensation, your values, and the life you're trying to build. In summary, every opportunity to highlight your value is an opportunity to advocate for your future.Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show. S5 Ep. 22 - Sponsorship and Power with Dr. Karla

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to True Talk Cafe — where real conversations spark real growth. Today’s short is about two things that can completely change the direction of your career: sponsorship and power. Now when people hear the word “power,” they sometimes think control, status, or influence. But in professional spaces, power is often much simpler than that. Power is access. Power is opportunity. Power is having people in rooms you haven’t entered yet saying your name in a positive way.And that brings us to sponsorship.A mentor gives advice. A sponsor opens doors. There’s a difference.A mentor might help you improve your resume, sharpen your skills, or navigate challenges. But a sponsor? A sponsor is the person willing to advocate for you when opportunities are on the table. They recommend you for leadership roles. They connect you to decision-makers. They put credibility behind your name. But sponsorship doesn’t happen overnight. You earn it through consistency, integrity, preparation, and showing people they can trust your work ethic and your character. Sponsors invest in people who follow through. People who bring value. People who make the team stronger. So how do you build that kind of network?Start by showing up. Attend industry events. Engage in professional communities. Reach out to people you admire. Stay connected to former colleagues. Support other people’s work before asking for support yourself.Professional sponsors often appear after you’ve demonstrated value repeatedly over time.In summary, if you’re early in your career, remember this:  Don’t just focus on getting a job. Focus on building relationships that create long-term opportunities. And if you’re already established, ask yourself:  Are you taking the time to sponsor others?  Who are you helping bring into the room when you see opportunity?Because real power is not just about climbing higher. It’s about reaching back and helping others rise too.Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show. Send us Fan MailWelcome back to True Talk Café… where we have honest conversations about growth, identity, leadership, and life.Today’s conversation is one that we believe will resonate deeply with so many people — especially those known as the dependable ones… the achievers… the fixers. We’re talking about what happens when overachievers get stuck — and the truth is… it’s often not because they lack skill, talent, or intelligence.Segment 1 – The Identity of Being “The Reliable One”Segment 2 – Why Overachievers Get StuckSegment 3 – The Hidden CostSegment 4 – Emotional Patterns of High AchieversSegment 5 – What Healing Looks LikeReflection Questions:Are you succeeding externally while quietly running empty internally?Have people become so comfortable relying on you that they’ve stopped asking what it costs you?Guest: Dr. Carol Vargas-Bautista- Carol Vargas Bautista, PhD | LinkedInIn summary, growth isn’t just about achievement.  Sometimes it’s about learning you don’t have to earn your worth through exhaustion.Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show. S5 Ep. 20 - Executive Presence Under Pressure with Renee

Send us Fan MailIn today's micro-episode we're talking about 'Executive Presence Under Pressure.'This episode is not just for executives. Whether you're three months into your first corporate job, ten years into managing a team, or running your own business, what we're talking about today applies to you. Here's the thing about executive presence — everybody talks about it like it's this mysterious, elusive quality that some people are just born with. Like you either have it or you don't.I've watched brilliant people completely unravel under pressure. I've seen leaders who commanded every room... until things got hard. And I've also seen the opposite. I've watched someone — a mid-level manager, no fancy title — walk into a full-blown crisis with a calm, steady energy that just reset the room. People stopped panicking. They started problem-solving. All because of how that one person showed up.That's executive presence under pressure. And it is absolutely a skill you can build. Here are three things that define executive presence when the heat is on. Regulate before you respond - take one slow deliberate breath before you respond.Control your narrative - be intentional about your posture, pace and language.Lead the emotional temperature of the room - acknowledge the difficulty without catastrophizing it. Validate the realityAnchor to capabilityPoint toward action. In summary, executive presence under pressure is not about being perfect.  It's not about having all the answers.  It's about being present (i.e. regulated, intentional and ground) in the moments when everything feels like it's coming undone.Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show. S5 Ep. 19 - Promotion Positioning w/Host: Lollie

Send us Fan MailIn today's micro-episode we're talking about 'Promotion Positioning'.A lot of people say they want the next opportunity, the bigger title, the leadership role, or the increased pay.But here’s the real question:Are you only doing the job you were hired for… or are you already showing signs that you’re ready for what’s next?Because promotions are rarely based only on potential. They’re usually based on demonstrated readiness. One of the biggest mindset shifts in professional growth is understanding this:Your next opportunity often starts before the title changes.People who grow consistently inside organizations usually begin operating differently before they officially move up.Now let me be clear — this does not mean overworking yourself, burning out, or allowing people to take advantage of you.It means becoming intentional about growth. For example…If the next-level role requires leadership, start practicing leadership now.If it requires stronger communication, become the person known for clarity and professionalism. If it requires strategic thinking, stop focusing only on tasks and start understanding the bigger picture. Many people wait to be given authority before they begin acting like a leader. But often, leadership is what earns the authority.Promotion positioning is not about pretending to be something you’re not. It’s about growing into what you’re capable of becoming. And sometimes the difference between staying stagnant and moving forward is one simple decision:choosing to operate with a next-level mindset today. So here’s a question to reflect on:If someone watched the way you work every day… would they naturally see signs of readiness for the next level? But growth.Ownership.Maturity.Initiative.Consistency.Because your habits often introduce you before your résumé does. Here’s this week’s True Talk action step:Identify ONE responsibility from the next-level role you want… and begin practicing it now.Because when preparation and opportunity meet… that’s usually when growth happens. In summary, don’t just ask for the next level — start preparing for it. Growth is not only about the title you want. It’s about the person you’re becoming along the way.Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show. S5 Ep. 18 - Strategic Work vs Office Housework

Send us Fan MailIn today's micro-episode we're talking about 'Strategic Work vs Office Housework'.One that hits especially hard for working moms and women in leadership. Because let’s be real—being “busy” is not the same as being valued.Let’s start here. Strategic work is the kind of work that moves your career forward. It’s visible. It’s tied to outcomes. It’s what gets you promoted—leading initiatives, owning P&L, driving innovation, shaping decisions. What is office housework?Well, that’s the invisible glue. Scheduling meetings. Taking notes. Planning the team birthday. Mentoring without recognition. Being the “go-to” fixer. I think some of us are very familiar with that…Is it necessary? Yes.Career-advancing? Not usually. And here’s the truth: women—especially working moms—are still disproportionately carrying that second category. Now layer in motherhood. You’re already managing logistics at home—calendars, meals, emotional labor—and then you log into work and… surprise, you’re doing it there too. It’s like you never get to clock into the strategic part of your brain. And in a world obsessed with productivity hacks and “leaning in,” we’re not asking the right question. It’s not: How do I do more? It is: Why am I being asked to do the work that doesn’t count? So… Let’s talk trends. There’s a growing conversation online about “quiet promotion”—where you’re given more responsibility without the title or pay. Sound familiar? That often shows up as office housework dressed up as LEADERSHIP.Another trend? “Energy audits.” Women are starting to track not just time—but impact. Asking: Is this task moving me closer to my goals, or just keeping the machine running? That shift? That’s power. So, what do we do about it?First—notice the pattern.Second—redirect strategically.Third—this is the hard one—let go of being the reliable one for EVERYTHING.Because being indispensable in low-visibility work can actually make you invisible where it matters most. And for my working moms listening—your time is already stretched. Protecting it isn’t selfish. It’s necessary. In summary, you deserve to be known for your IMPACT, not just your availability. Strategic work builds your LEGACY. Office housework maintains someone else’s.  So, the next time something lands on your plate, ask yourself: Is this moving me forward—or just keeping me busy?Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show. S5 Ep. 17 - Confident Communication

Send us Fan MailIn today's micro-episode we're talking about 'Confident Communication'.I found the timing of this topic a bit hilarious, but that’s a different podcast altogether, so let’s get right into it, because you  may be experiencing this right now. You’re doing the work. You’re delivering results. You’re showing up consistently. But when it comes to growth, promotion, or new opportunities… things feel unclear. And you’re sitting there wondering—Am I being developed… or delayed?Let's set one thing straight, if you work for someone, Your supervisor cannot act on what you haven’t clearly communicated. We assume they see our effort. We assume they know our goals. We assume they’ll connect the dots. But they don’t know what you don’t say.And that’s where confident communication becomes a career strategy—not just a soft skill.Communication is the only clear way to announce your intentions. If you want growth… say it.If you want leadership opportunities… say it.If you’re ready for the next level… say it.This week, I want you to do something different.Schedule a direct growth conversation. And don’t keep it vague. Be specific.Ask: • “What specific results or competencies would position me for promotion?” • “What opportunities can I lead in the next 90 days to demonstrate readiness?”Then—this is key—Document the response.Because clarity creates accountability. In summary, confident communication doesn’t just open doors— it shows you which ones were never opening to begin with.Join us on a live show! - learn how you can join us on a live show.
