Be Careful Who You Listen To // Proverbs 29:12-18

You’ve probably heard the saying, there are two sides to every story. Well, today’s passage is a reminder to be mindful of whose side we take. Know What to Expect // Proverbs 29:1-11

One thing I love about the book of Proverbs is that it helps you to know what to expect from people. It's full of wise advice to help us to make good decisions regarding our own character, but also how to respond and interact with others. Today's passage continues to shed light on these areas. Proverbs 29:1-11 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.29.1-11.NLT ----------------------- Music: Shine With Me by James.Lfo, William Claeson courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/LGBCrPkkqx/

Be Honest Starting With Yourself // Proverbs 28:19-28

As we begin to wrap up our study of Proverbs, I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned about studying this book. Today’s passage is a great example because each verse can stand alone but when you look at them as a passage, you can grasp greater levels of meaning. Let’s get into it and see what comes out. Proverbs 28:19-28 (NLT) https://www.bible.com/bible/116/PRO.28.19-28.NLT ----------------------- Music: Shine With Me by James.Lfo, William Claeson courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/LGBCrPkkqx/

Sin Never Ends Well // Proverbs 28:13-18

Giving in to sin never ends well. It destroys us and hurts those around us. The temptation to sin will always exist as long as we are in these bodies. To sin or not to sin is a daily choice we must make multiple times a day! Let's choose not to live in sin because sinful living always, ALWAYS comes with negative consequences. ‭Proverbs 28:13-18 NLT‬ https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.28.13-18.NLT --------------------------- Music: Shine With Me by James.Lfo, William Claeson courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/LGBCrPkkqx/

Don’t Let the Wicked Take Your Peace // Proverbs 28:1-12

I know how it can seem like it’s hard to distinguish the righteous from the wicked but today’s passage highlights some of the clear contrasts to be seen between the godly and the wicked. Pay Attention To Your Wealth // Proverbs 27:23-27

When it comes to our lives, our level of comfort often dictates how attentive we are to the details. When we get comfortable, it’s easy to get sloppy. Today’s passage encourages us to be attentive to what’s necessary to support and sustain our livelihood. Sensible People Know What’s Up // Proverbs 27:12-18

I’m so excited to dig into today’s passage. Hopefully, it doesn’t sound too crazy because I’m recording from the prime studio environment of a rental car. Today’s passage is so good. It helps us understand the value of thinking ahead in various aspects of life. Let’s jump in. Everyone Needs a Good Friend // Proverbs 27:7-9

We are designed to be in community, designed to be loved and to feel like we belong. Those who struggle to feel these two basic needs can become so desperate they will settle for anybody and too be treated in any way. We know this because the Bible tells us. ‭Proverbs 27:7-9 (NLT) https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.27.7-9.NLT ---------------- Music: From Outer Space by Gregory David courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/WD5yzdwGeY/

Why Learn The Hard Way // Proverbs 27:1-6

Stay Out Of Folks Business // Proverbs 26:17-28

Today’s passage is one of those that reminds me of things my parents and grandparents would say. This teaching was part of my home training and it’s great when that basic training lines up with scripture. Today, we are talking about how to avoid unnecessary conflict. Let’s jump into the word. Proverbs 26:17-28 (NLT) https://www.bible.com/bible/116/PRO.26.17-28.NLT ---------------- Music: Midnight in Mono by Rebecca Mardal and james.lfo courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/hGImFQv96h/

Giving It To The Lazy // Proverbs 26:13-16

God doesn’t like laziness. Today’s passage focuses on the patterns of behavior of lazy people. In some sense, there’s a bit of hyperbole here but in another sense, the criticisms of the lazy are simply more figurative than literal. Let’s jump in. Proverbs 26:13-16 (NLT) https://www.bible.com/bible/116/PRO.26.13-16.NLT ----------------- Music: Midnight in Mono by Rebecca Mardal and james.lfo courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/hGImFQv96h/

Talking With Fools // Proverbs 26:1-8

Being in this world but not of this world can almost guarantee that we're going to have a run in with a foolish person. You know the type of people the Bible says can never admit when they're wrong they're lazy and don't want to be accountable to anyone. And when we do run into these types of people we will need to know how to handle them. Today's passage of scripture helps us with that. ‭Proverbs 26:1-8 (NLT) https://www.bible.com/bible/116/PRO.26.1-8.NLT ----------------- Music: Midnight in Mono by Rebecca Mardal and james.lfo courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/hGImFQv96h/

Navigating Unmet Needs // Proverbs 25:23-28

Today’s passage covers a few areas as Proverbs often does but when I look at the passage holistically, I see a pattern. The pattern that I’m noticing is the need to pay attention both to our surroundings and ourselves. Let’s jump in. Proverbs 25:23-28 (NLT) https://www.bible.com/bible/116/PRO.25.23-28.NLT ------------------ Music: Midnight in Mono by Rebecca Mardal and james.lfo courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/hGImFQv96h/

Working Well With Others // Proverbs 25:7b-13

We often hear how we should treat others in general, how we need to interact to show the love and truth of Christ. The Bible also teaches us how to treat people in specific areas. I feel today's passage focuses on how to treat people in the workplace. Your Time Will Come // Proverbs 25:4-7a

And have you felt like if given a chance to rub elbows with the big wigs, you to can get what you want? Well, that doesn't always work. In fact, it can even backfire. ‭‭‭‭Proverbs 25:4-7a NLT‬ https://www.bible.com/bible/116/PRO.25.4-7.NLT --------------------- Music: Coffee Break by Gregory David courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/F4JWsuRz8x/

Shift Focus Because Wartime Hits Differently // Proverbs 24:1-6

How often do we find ourselves envying people who haven’t submitted their lives to God’s will? It’s hard for us to say now but the Bible calls those people evil. Today’s passage reminds us not to be envious of evil people but also gives us an alternative path to reach true fulfillment. Everything That Glitters Ain’t Gold // Proverbs 23:17-21

How often do we see non-Christians living it up? Sometimes we see what appears to be the most godless people, living sinful lives, yet they appear to have good health, no money issues, no family issues, just an “easy” life. Well, the word talks about that. ‭‭Proverbs 23:17-21. Listen, Apply, Keep // Proverbs 22:17-19

We all get forgetful now and then, especially during this age of busyness. We set reminders, alarms, alerts, timers and more just to keep our schedules and tasks at the forefront of our brains. Why don’t we do this with the Word of God? In fact, God has outlined a plan to help us remember His Word so that it will help others and ourselves to grow in Him: Listen, apply, and keep. ‭‭Proverbs 22:17-19 NLT‬‬ https://www.bible.com/bible/116/PRO.22.17-19.NLT --------------- Music: I Saw an Angel by DJ DENZ The Rooter courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/39Q4dbo3g5/

What We All Have in Common // Proverbs 22:1-5

Our culture is in a constant pattern of comparison. We are constantly bombarded with messages about what we have and don’t have and if we aren’t careful we can fall into the trap of measuring our worth as people and our very identity by the things that we have. Today’s passage reminds us how we are all the same yet our choices will shape our path. Keep it Real // Proverbs 21:23-27

At some point we have all had to deal with these types of people. You know, the ones who have no filter and just say whatever pops into their head. We've come across lazy yet greedy folks too - people who want it all, but unwilling to work for anything. We have even dealt with manipulative folks, always looking how to get someone from somebody. Or even worse, we are these types of people. ‭‭Proverbs 21:23-27 NLT‬‬ https://www.bible.com/bible/116/pro.21.23-27.NLT ----------------------- Music: I Saw an Angel by DJ DENZ The Rooter courtesy of Epidemic Sound Stream: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/39Q4dbo3g5/

I love how Proverbs covers wisdom from every angle, from relationships to business and leadership and on and on. The Wise Run To The Lord // Proverbs 18:10-12

I love Proverbs and having studied it for more than the past two months, one of things that I miss is that there’s so much focus on wise choices and behaviors that there’s not as much focus on the nature and character of God. I love how today’s passage helps us to realize that in order to truly walk in wisdom and righteousness, we need to place our faith in the Lord. The Power of an Appetite // Proverbs 16:26-33

An appetite is something that you can easily take for granted until you lose it. As you may or may not know, I was sick last week and one of the big symptoms that I had was I completely lost my appetite. If you know me, you know I generally don’t have any issues eating but last week I had to force myself to eat something. A week later and 10 pounds lighter I’m feeling better but I’m challenged to take this opportunity to recalibrate my appetite because I know how important diet is for a healthier me. For today’s passage I’m going to cheat a bit because we are going to read through end of the chapter but I really want to focus on a single verse. The Flow of Wisdom // Proverbs 16: 16-25

One of the great powers of wisdom is the power to listen to others and apply an understanding of others' wants and desires to what we choose our words carefully. That wisdom is highlighted in today’s passage. A Good Leader // Proverbs 16:11-15

As I have been researching and studying this book of Proverbs, I almost forgot it was written by King Solomon. His wisdom and riches have been known throughout history through many many countries, across many lands. In today’s passage of scripture, this king is explaining what makes a king of respectable character and what our expectations should be of him. Planning with Purpose // Proverbs 16:1-9

Let me kick things off by admitting that I’m not good at planning. Today’s passage was a reminder to me of the wisdom and power of planning to help us accomplish the goals that we have in life. One of the reasons that Tracy and I have committed to doing this devotional is to give us encouragement and accountability to learn how to plan and execute better. To be honest, it’s been a challenge but prayerfully today’s passage will help us out. Now, Tracy and I raise our kids to understand the power of their words and the responsibility that goes with learning how to use words wisely. Today’s passage highlights the weight that words can carry and the power that we wield when we open our mouths to speak.
