Tuesdays Told Ep. 1 - The Girl Who Sings to the Stars

Okay, so this has been a super secret project that I have not had as much time and as many resources as I would’ve liked, BUT that’s okay.Years ago, I churned ut hundreds of podcast episodes with a couple of friends and, frankly, our quality was trash but vanity projects can e that way. Still, it was a fun format to engage in and I’m insanely proud of it to this day.Fast-forward to 2025 and here I am starting over from the very beginning, and with similar audio quality! Rest assured, the poor-quality of this episode (informed partially be design choices that I’m not sure I’m thrilled about) will improve greatly with future installments. That said, the most important facet of all of this is simply providing the stories in a listenable format for those who can’t or won’t read my Substack posts or emails. Thanks mom!SO, anyway, I intend to continue my normal schedule of weekly Tuesday Tales posts where I serialize a story. What’s changing is that I will (hopefully) wrap up my stories in three or four weeks each month, letting the final Tuesday of the month stand for the actual audio version of the story. This serves multiple purposes, but chief among them is the hope that I will serve an audience I might otherwise not satisfy. This has been in the works a couple weeks at this point and, admittedly, there are elements of this initial episode I am entirely dissatisfied with. I will need to tweak my recording setup and, in the future, NOT try to sound like an old AM radio drama. Growing pains, to be sure.PLEASE leave feedback, too. I absolutely need input and guidance on how best to tweak this format going forward. It’s time-consuming as all get out an I want to ensure that the experience is enjoyable for the small few of you who tune in now as well as those hat may fin me in the future. Also, here’s a small list of changes to expect starting with next month:* Improved audio quality - My recording setup sat untouched for years and I need to really zero in on what will provide clearer audio. This is chief among my changes.* Intro and outro - I had ideas in mind but ended up WAY behind schedule, so I opted to trim some fat and keep things shorter. I intend for future versions of Tuesdays Told to lan around a similar (one hour?) length with the audiobook reading filling the bulk and the intro an outro filling out the rest with BTS and teases of content.* My initial ambition was to have the story backed fully by music composed by myself. However, as I underestimated the scope of the project ans my own recent time commitments, this was scrapped from Episode 1. I WILL be having light, instrumental music backing future episodes unless feedback tells me not to.* The actual voicing may change base upon feedback. I initially elected to have all narration one by me, male voices one by me, and female voices done by Kristen. Sometime in the next month or two, this episode could be fully redone with different narration based upon BTS decisions. Feedback will go a long way toward deciding how this projet evolves going forward. So, that’s it. I hope this is a welcome addition to what my Substack has to offer. If not, well, provide feedback for what YOU want to see done differently! And, as always…an make sure to tell everyone you know about what we’ve got going on over here. I’ve been holing bak the heavy hitters but this is the first step towar finding my own way to tell my stories to as many people as possible. It starts with YOU! This is a public episode.
