Existing solely on a diet of remixes this week, Tunetourist takes to the cyberwaves armed with bangers from Trentemoller, Four Tet, Simian Mobile Disco, Justice and our other favourite knob-tweakers of 2006.

This week, your intrepid music explorers take a bite out of the big red shiny sonic apple that is New York City. The Walkmen, Yo La Tengo, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and TV On The Radio come armed with guitars, whilst Tanya Morgan and Eric B and Rakim bring the beats and attitude.

Its time for another Best Of as Tunetourist flexes its record shopping muscle and makes a mockery of the notion of music programming by dashing around the globe like a label CEO hooked on air miles. We've got the mighty Spank Rock, an ace Brazilian Tropicalia rarity, NME-darlings Klaxons and We Start Fires, stoned soulman Dudley Perkins and more.

This week your Tunetourist hosts, James and Ben, go head to head in a showdown of their own selections from another month of global record shopping. Ben opts for melodic indie from Pure Groove Records in London and Reckless in Chicago whilst James delivers hip-hop from Fat Beats in New York and electronica from Vinyl Club, Ibiza and Small Fish, London.

This week Tunetourist searches out Jazz of all shades, even managing to find it in the music of Radiohead and Thom Yorke. The selections come from shops like Jazz Record Mart in Chicago and Cue Records in Philadelphia, who deliver tracks from Brad Mehldau, Ammoncontact, Sa-Ra, Aceyalone and more.

A glance back at some of the highlights of a year wasted in the world's finest independent record shops. We zig-zag the globe in search of the perfect beat with music from Reckless Records in Chicago, Fat Beats in New York, Ear Wax in Atlanta, Dub Vendor in London and more. This fortnight, TUNETOURIST visits Missing Link, Melbourne’s premier purveyor of independent music of all shades and takes a tour of their shelves. From the Franglais pop of Melbourne’s Minimum Chips to new material from The Sleepy Jackson via a couple of North American diversions from Early Man and Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan. We even find an excuse to play new music from London’s New Young Pony Club.
