Dear Texas Read Radio Show 296 With Kimberly Dewberry

Kimberly Dewberry struggled for 25 years to cope with the pain, hurt, guilt, regret, unworthiness, and shame caused by her addicted father. As her life devolved into a predictable pattern of poor choices caused by the dysfunctional thinking of an alcoholic household, Kimberly’s image of God was skewed with an inner turmoil that only he could heal. Through the loving grace of Jesus Christ, she has broken free from the shackles of rebellion and anger, and has made it her life’s mission to openly share her journey through courageous prose. Her heart’s desire is to help other adult children of alcoholics identify and overcome unhealthy cycles of destructive living that the specter of alcoholism leaves behind. Kimberly often speaks at recovery meetings about how the serenity and peace of God’s redemption are keys to personal wholeness. She also shares biblical insights to everyday problems through her devotional blog, Transforming Normal (www.kimberlydewberry.com). Kimberly has two grown children. She and her husband Patrick live in the Dallas area with their two Boston Terrier rescues. Kimberly enjoys writing, reading, Bible art journaling, participating in Bible studies, and dating her husband.

Dear Texas Read Radio Show 289 With Pat Haddock

A sixth-generation Texan, storytelling is in Pat Haddock’s blood. Those earlier, resilient generations provide stories worth repeating—some embellished with time, but more colorful for the effort. Her work often carries two underlying themes: First, life mirrors attitudes and actions, shaping what boomerangs back. Hence, a positive outlook and generous actions yield a rich life. Second, nobody gets out of this life alive, so have fun muddling through it. With a dual writing personality, she can dish out punishment for wrongdoing in one piece, and frolic through another, as evidenced by published short stories in Dallas Writers Journal and Texas Writers Journal. She and Cody, a Yorkie-Poo house dog live north of Dallas. Cody is nothing like Petey Pup, one of my early rescues. Dear Aunt Peggy, Emails from Petey Pup is written as if by Petey, a Lhasa mix, in his vernacular. This little rascal tells of his escapades in emails to my sister, Peggy.
