UCF: 1 More Knight

Our offense could not get going in the rain on Saturday night.  The defense held Pitt to just 10 points, all in the first half, but Barnett only led the Knights to 7 points late in the 4th quarter.  Alonza goes out on the next to last offensive play as Jenkins cannot convert on 4th and Pitt runs out the clock.  Is it time to panic or is this loss just a teaching point in the process of learning about this team.  Time will tell, but there was some good around Knight Nation.  Volleyball secured 2 victories at home and both Men's and Women's soccer bounce back from poor showings.  I talk about all the sports at UCF before going into how I did on my predictions for Week 2.  It was a rough week, but we learned even more about the BIG 12 Conference.  A few surprises around the nation but it is all what we come to expect in college football.  Hence why I love this game. 

We look back at the first week opponents of our Knights and Pitt to see what we learned.  After watching both teams play, I give you my thoughts on the match up.  Pitt leads the series, and the Knights need to prove they can win on the road.  I tell you 5 keys to the game, and hint to what my pick will be.  There are a few other top games outside the BIG 12, and I give you my thoughts.  Half our league is playing lesser competition, while the other half will be battling other Power 4 conferences.  Should know a lot more about some of the teams after this weekend.  Also, Scott joins me to discuss 5 games, and we end with our predictions.  Without even discussing it first, we were both very close in how we think this weekend will turn out.  

Alonza gives way to 3 back up QBs in the second half as the Knights roll 73-6 over Bethune Cookman.  The Knights' rushing attack leads the way in both halves as only 4 pass attempts were made after halftime.  I break down the stats and then we talk about other sports around Knight Nation.  The BIG 12 had a few surprises in Week 1 and we highlight the good and the bad performances.  Overall, there were some shocking results around the nation, but that is why I love this game.  One more game on Monday and then we move to week 2 predictions later in the week.  Welcome back college football, we have missed you.

Are the Knights ready for Thursday night?  Our guest today has spent spring and fall camp with the team and gives his perspective on what he has seen.  Of course, being an offensive line coach, we talked about that position group, what it takes for being successful, and how excited he is about this year's Knights team.  Also, he gives us some background on Coach Mike Kruczek, who he has known and coached with for many years.  Coach Kruczek is a UCF Hall of Fame inductee for 2026 and is a well-deserved honor.  I run through some of the top games and the BIG 12 matchups for the weekend as we get ready to begin the season.  We are almost there Knight Nation.

After a year of audio podcast, 1MoreKnight started to post on YouTube this summer.  Today, I run down some UCF topics with friend and fraternity brother, Scott Lubell.  Scott and I like to talk about our thoughts on our Knights and have very different perspectives that allow us to think about things in a different way. On my 100th episode, he and I run down BIG 12 predictions, what record could our Knights come away with this season, 5-for-5 reactions, Stillwell's switch to Texas Tech, and one surprise topic.  Listen in as we share our thoughts, have a few laughs, and celebrate the milestone of 100 episodes.   

With the first game just 11 days away, I tell you how my first ever visit to Fan Fest went and answer some questions about positions from Fall Camp.  Also, both Men's and Women's soccer are underway with both getting victories on Thursday as they head out to play games on the road on Sunday.  Volleyball hosts the Black and Gold classic next weekend as they serve up the first games Friday - Sunday.  I talk about my tryouts for my school in hopes to repeat as county champs.  Week 0 in college football begins next Saturday and I give you some predictions on some of the key matchups.  Finally, we talk about the Top 25 preseason poll released and give you a few thoughts on the rankings.  Getting excited for the start of the season as our Knights look to be a surprise contender in this year's Big 12 Conference. 

While Fall Football Camp finished week 2, many other fall sports are also getting ready to start.  Women's Soccer already had its first game Thursday vs. the Gators where they won 4-3.  Men's Soccer begins this week, while volleyball is two weeks away.  In this episode, I will share preseason polls and what I think the teams need to do to be successful this year.  Last week during football camp, Coach Grinch and Coach Cooper gave us availability and spoke about their sides of the ball.  A few players from offense and defense spoke with media, and Coach Frost again gave his takeaways from week 2.  Competition for play time will be an ongoing challenge for players and this time due to good play, not the best of the worst like many positions last year.  Still some questions to be answered, but as we gear up for the first game, don't forget about those other sports that look to improve this season. 

Back to our 5 things and there is a lot to catch up on.  Court rulings, rule changes, fall camp, season hype, and league comparisons all in this episode.  I give you my take on these topics as we ramp up for the start of fall sports.  Only 25 days until we open the football season.  Who else is ready for the Alonza Barnett era to begin?

So, the 30 in 3 episodes have come to an end and some of you have reached out with questions.  This episode I answer these 3 posed by listeners.  First, which was my favorite decade.  Second, what are the most memorable games in those 30 years.  And finally, what players do I have my eye on this season.  As I get into the school year the original weekday and Sunday post will be coming back.  Thanks for those following along and as always...Go Knights! We start the decade with a new AD and new Coach.  Scott Frost leads us from winless to undefeated in 2 years before leaving to his alma mater.  The Knights would then continue the "Heup" with Josh until the COVID year when he and Danny White bolt for Tennessee.  Enter Terry Mohajir as AD from Arkansas State and he would end up hiring a past coach of his that was just fired from Auburn.  During the next 4 years we would ride the "Gus Bus" which felt more like an old school bus with no AC.  The only promise of the "Future of College Football" was our entry into the BIG XII.  Gus leaves for Florida State to return as an OC and most of the team was lost to the transfer portal.  Who could energize the fan base after such a disappointing start in our new conference.  Terry would turn to an old face, but the fan base was split on his return.  Enter Scott Frost 2.0.  After a failed stint at Nebraska and a few years out of football, Scott was working with the Rams when Terry made the call.  Coach Frost said he would love to come back to Orlando as it is where he found happiness the last time.  Can he create some magic the second year back and get the 4th decade started off like he did the 3rd?  Knights' fans are hoping for some more magic from Frost starting this season with a much-improved roster.  

After finishing up Decade One with a conference championship game appearance and bowl game, the Knights would see the Second Decade move them to an on-campus stadium.  Winning 3 conference titles, sharing a title and an additional championship game appearance, the Knights were becoming dominate in post season play.  They would lose 2 more bowl games before a run of 3 consecutive bowl wins.  But the decade would end with a bowl loss and a 0-12 season where the Knights lost not only the coach, but the AD as well.  We end 2015 with many doubts at where we are heading and hope that Dr. Hitt can find two leaders that can move UCF to even greater heights.  The 3rd decade of Division I football would have a lot to live up to.

UCF would join Division I football in 1996.  As the first team to every jump 4 divisions, D III to D II to D 1-AA and now D 1-A, the then called Central Florida Golden Knights became an independent school playing at the highest level.  Home games consisted of lower division teams as the Knights had to fill their schedule with power conference teams on the road.  Many years not having but one home game in September, if any.  This allowed good pay days for the school, but less teams were looking to schedule us as we gave some big schools and ranked teams some scares early on in Division I.   I take us back season by season, add in a few stories along the way, of the first decade of UCF Division I football.  While we lost more than we won, and had a winless season in this decade, we did have a few seasons that showed hope for the future.  During this period, we joined and left the MAC Conference and in year one of Conference USA made it to the title game.  While we didn't win, we received our first bowl game appearance and lost in overtime.  Many ups and downs, but optimism about our future was high as we entered the second decade.  

Who will win the BIG XII Conference Championships in Football this season?  We look back at the final standings from 2025 and what the projections are for 2026.  Then, I give you my prediction for where teams will end the 2026 season.  My top teams are consistent with the experts, but I have a very different order from the middle of the pack to the bottom of the conference.  Come along and let me share my take on the season and why I feel our Knights will be surprising the doubters this year. 

Back from a long vacation break and getting you caught up on my thoughts from Big 12 Media Days.  I go through both Coach Scott Frost and AD Terry Mohajir interviews, highlighting some key conversations about our UCF Knights.  Getting excited for the season and offer my perspective on what was said in Dallas.  A little different format as I am doing some special episodes here prior to my return to work in 10 days.  Hope you follow along as I am getting ready to drop my Big 12 season predictions and taking us back through the last 30 years of UCF Division I football history.  

So first, Happy 4th of July everyone.  It is a special day for me as it is also my one-year anniversary for my podcast.  I put out 90 episodes in a year and today I am also putting my first ever YouTube video out.  Like, subscribe, and watch @UCF.1MoreKnight.  This episode I break down predictions some have for our Knights, while I take you through game by game on what results I feel we will accomplish.  Of course, I am optimistic about our season and have a few surprise picks along the way.  After the detailed analysis, I jump back in to talk about the World Cup as we enter the next Knockout Stage, the Round of 16.  Can the US make it to the Quarterfinals?  I wrap up the podcast sharing a little 4th of July memories that I cherish the most.  Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday weekend.  I will be out for a few weeks so catch you mid-July, and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

Our Defensive Secondary looks to be strong this year and with the addition of two strong legs, the Special Teams unit could really bolster UCF's chances at success.  I give my thoughts on who will lead us on both groups and what the overall expectation of Alex Grinch's defense should be this season.  We need another masterful performance in 2026 if we look to be competitive in the BIG 12.  Controversy on the pitch last night as the US receives a devastating red card that could affect them in the Round of 16.  Can the US prevail and continue on in the World Cup.  Finally, last practice video show before I start making YouTube live.  Been an interesting few days around Coach's house and I share a little about that here. 

Alex Grinch will need to replace many positions across the Defensive Line and Linebackers.  We talked about who I believe will be starting for the Knights and what we can expect this season.  We will need to match the production from last season and two things are certain...we have depth and athleticism.  Will this be enough to disrupt the line of scrimmage for opposing offenses.  Also, let's recap the PGA and LPGA weekend along with World Cup results from the Knockout Stage.  Well, well, there is another Brenden Sorsby update.  Then we quickly move to the football coach rankings to discuss placement and where I see it different.  I also looked at the National rankings to see how they compared as well.  Finally, we talk about the Coach Frost interview about Shawn Clark's wife getting an initiative started to bring awareness to the importance of physical and mental health screenings. 

It is time to talk Offensive Line.  With a new coach and many new players, will they be able to pick up the system and work as a unit this season.  We will need to see improved rushing lanes, better pass protection, and be able to convert on short yardage.  Oh, and let's not forget all the penalties.  They will need to clean up a lot and prove they can move the defensive line when short yardage is needed.  I feel we have some good talent so it will be all about production.  I also go over what I think we will need to do on offense this year for us to get to a 7- or 8-win season.  I will give my projections for all BIG 12 teams, including us, later in July.  Surprise, I also talk about the NBA.  Now, it is only due to the draft being held this week and 9 conference players going in the first round, with 4 in the Top 10.  I also touch on the World Cup and the PGA and LPGA US Opens.  Finally, I took a look at the strength of schedule projections since I am working on my predictions and a big red flag.  UCF has got one of the weakest schedules so why are we getting so many predictions of being one of the worst in the league.  I know I am biased, but I just don't see this season being less than a .500 record.  Next episodes we will switch to the defensive side of the ball, so hope you continue listening to the podcast.  Thanks Knight Nation and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

With only 12 total receiving touchdowns last season, the Knights went and got a true QB 1 in the portal with Alonza Barnett.  Will this year's group prove to be targets UCF can use to keep defenses honest.  If we can spread teams out and not let them load the box like they did last year, both the run and pass games could see much needed production for us to compete in the BIG 12.  Also, we talk about so WR and TE that could be standouts in the conference this year.  Can you believe it...another saga in the Brenden Sorsby drama as he is denied the supplemental draft.  What is next for the once star QB?  In Omaha, Oklahoma caps an incredible run with a blowout victory in Game 3 to take the title.  This is why predictions are just that, predictions.  And finally, the 5-for-5 will begin for the NCAA July 1st.  No more near 30-year-olds in their 7th year in our future.  Overall, I feel this is a good move for both teams and the athletes.  

First, thanks to those that called me out on the few teams I missed during the QB episode.  I got so wrapped up in the Sorsby saga I left out the last few teams.  So, I circled back to finish up the preview of the QBs for those teams before moving on to the Running Backs.  UCF has a young returning backfield with the most dynamic of the group injured all last season.  Will Swint be what we hoped last year and can Addae be featured in some of the offensive packages.  The addition of 2 Freshman has us at 4 that have not taken a college game snap.  While we have some exciting tape on Duke Watson, he is still unproven.  It looks to be Landon Chambers in the lead role, and I go over his stats and have him as one to watch in what looks to be a very competitive BIG 12 Conference.  I go through some other notable backs from other teams around the league, in which we will face 5 of them.  After that, a quick check in on College Baseball World Series matchup and finish up with golf and the World Cup.  Happy Father's Day weekend to all the dads out there and I end this episode with a "dad" joke I did this week.  Next, we take a look at a much-improved receiver room and what we can expect this season.  

With a whole new QB room for 2026, are the Knights in a better position to make some noise in the Big 12?  We look at the roster, and I share my thoughts on this very important lead role for the offense.  While nationally we are still expected to be at the bottom of the league again this year, the Knights could be a bowl eligible team if Alonza stays healthy.  I run through the QBs from the Big 12 and of course with the Brenden Sorsby saga, there is more Texas Tech chaos to unpacked.  The College Baseball World Series is coming down to the final two teams this week and I run through some scores and predictions.  As a Coach myself, I end with the importance of holding accountable athletes when they make mistakes.  It is a lot to cover in this episode so get ready for a lot of content.

With Brendan Sorsby's eligibility reinstated, what are my thoughts?  I give you that, talk about other issues from Lubbock, and is the Red Raiders schedule set up for another CFP run.  Oh, and don't forget we just completed Super Regionals in baseball, and we talk about the results and match ups coming this weekend.  As I continue to put together my content for the summer, I will chime in on other stories around the Big 12 and the nation.  

Let's take an episode and run down the sports teams and how they performed this year.  Year 3 was not a bad year and many teams exceeded expectations.  Some had some growth, others surprised the experts, and a few needed a reset.  Here is a look at some of the good and the bad as we continue building our programs to compete at the highest level.  

After 2 series wins, one on the road at Baylor, and the other at home versus Kansas State, UCF Baseball was hoping to make some noise in the B12 Tournament.  With the 4th seed came a much-needed rest, but we would fall in the first game just like the ladies did.  We would make the tournament with a surprising season that many did not see coming.  They won the first game in the Auburn regional, only to fall in the next two games and be eliminated from post season play.  Through the injuries, the Knights had a successful season and hope to continue to become relevant in not only the conference, but also in post season play.  

While I was sad to see us get blown out at UCLA, it is not surprising with the amount of Home Runs and Runs per Game that the Bruins put up.  We showed some fight in both games early, but we could not keep the bats for UCLA quiet for long.  It was a great year for our Lady Knights with knocking off the in-state FSU Seminoles in the Regional.  We had some veteran players that helped this team mature quickly and hope we can keep a good nucleus of players as the portal season for softball is upon us.  We also will need some additional depth in the rotation and at the plate.  I have watch much of the tournament and it has been another exciting year.  This week will be a rematch of Texas and Texas Tech, which I will be pulling for the Big 12 to get it done this year after falling 2 games to 1 last season.  Congrats to some local high school teams, Hagerty and Winter Springs on their softball championship.  I got to see my alma mater Columbia High School not only beat my wife's Seminole team but also win the 4A Championship right down the road from my house a few Saturdays ago.  Way to go Lady Tigers!  Have 3 classmates' children on the team and it was good to catch up with them.  Tomorrow I will talk UCF Baseball, but until then, Go Knights! Happy Mother's Day!  It has been a few weeks since the last show and I share what a crazy two weeks it has been.  Then we catch up with Spring Football, Softball, and Baseball for UCF.  Other spring sports are finishing up as well as we are closing in on the summer.  I talk about some other top stories around the country, city, and the BIG 12.  Last, I talk about some more additions to the Knights' basketball teams.  Looking forward to wrapping up school so I can do more shows.  

Short one today, but we will touch on another UCF Knight selected in round 1 of the NFL draft.  Who else should be keep an eye on this weekend?  Also, we touch on the last-minute basketball portal moves for both the Men's and Women's team.  In baseball, the Knights lost the 2 weekend games and could not pull off more Sunday magic and lost the series to Cincy.  They would pull out the victory against Bethune Cookman on Tuesday.  Can they stop the free fall this week in Utah?  Softball took 2 of 3 from Kansas with the bats going cold on Sunday.  They also won their weekday game on Wednesday versus North Florida.  Next for them is a Home and Home series with #5 UF.  I plan on attending tomorrow night's game at the Plex and hope they can at least steal one of them.  Last, it's my birthday and I tell you how my day went and super excited for my girls as they finished the season as the 2nd seed, 4-1 and will start their tournament run tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and Go Knights, Charge On!

Not very many have entered the portal from Men's Basketball and Coach Lazo for the Lady Knights is busy trying to build his team.  Only a few more days remaining before we find out the rosters for next year's basketball teams.  Baseball drops a series to Kansas, who now is in 1st place in the conference.  Our boys are tied for 2nd with a home series against Cincy this weekend.  Softball wins 2 of 3 and takes the weekday game heading into the last home series versus a ranked KU team.  Can the ladies keep the momentum building here at the end of the season and get back in the hunt for a higher tournament seed.  Coach Frost gave an update on Spring Football and still no sign of Barnett running the offense, but a battle for QB2 is underway with the two transfers.  I also touch on The Masters tournament from last week and give an update on my girls' basketball team as we are coming to the end of the season.  We have 6 UCF Spring Sports represented in the Top 25 and just a lot to be excited about around Knight Nation.  

Baseball is in 1st place in the conference after taking 2 out of 3 on the road in Morgantown.  Now they head to Kansas to take on the Jayhawks.  Can they keep the momentum that basketball lost during their season of play.  Softball had another great series at home versus Utah.  With 2 wins and a tie, they are in 5th place in the conference and turning it around from the slow conference start.  They are on the road at Arizona State.  Can they continue the hot streak with the bats and shut down pitching they have seen over the last few weeks.  Also, I give you basketball tournament final thoughts and the portal is now open.  I give you a list of Knights that have entered along with some other notable names from the BIG 12.  I let you know who I have seen enter from UCF and what I think about Johnny's extension.  New Coach, Gabe Lazo had an introductory press conference and we will see who he can assemble with most of the team opting out for next year.  I cover some other sports topics in the news from this week and give you how my girl's team did against our cross town rivals.  Remember that it is Master's weekend and look forward to other great sports as well.   

While many of the Knights' spring sports are getting National recognition, it is the team not competing right now that is dominating the news.  Much excitement for the opening of Spring Football practice was diminished by the absence of Alonza Barnett from participating.  Concern is growing along with a 3-9 prediction from an article has fans already up in arms.  Many of our teams are counted out, so let's just relax a bit and see what happens.  I go around and talk about the great things happening around UCF, Tournament predictions for the final weekend of basketball, and even some BIG 12 stories that are sure to ruffle some feathers.  Also, a big week for Coach, as I face off against a cross-town rival on Wednesday.  Have a great sports weekend Knight Nation, and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

What a great weekend around the diamond.  Softball wins weekday matchup against FCGU before traveling to Houston where the bats came alive.  The Lady Knights were ready for launch as they hit 19 homers in 3 games along with a perfect game from Isabella Vega on Saturday.   They pull back to .500 in conference on the season and host Utah this weekend at home.  Baseball hosted Arizona at home after losing at Stetson on Tuesday.  They would get the easy win on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday came down to the usual late game heroics.  Another walk off winner for the Knights in the Bottom of the 13th to earn the series sweep.  They are on the road, first in Happy Valley to take on Penn State, then head to Morgantown.  West Virgina is ranked #11 and the Knights #23 as the weekend series will decide who is at the top of the conference.  Currently, we are 1st and are surprising the predictors.  Can the Knights keep it up, or will they start to falter?  Can the Lady's ride the momentum going?  We will find out.  Also, a tournament update and I talk about some of the stories circulating while giving my take.  My basketball team is off to a 2-0 start with a clash against our cross-town rival next week.  I have a lot to do to get them ready and keep you posted on how they do.

I guess it is not surprising that we did not play well on Friday in the tournament, since we have been struggling over the past month to get much of an offense going.  Our Knights would fall to UCLA, and the season has come to a close.  I give my thoughts on the season and expectations on the future.  Johnny is getting an extension, and can he recreate this year's magic into next year's team.  We will again be filling needs through the portal in hopes that the next group of players can continue to build the program into one that competes in the tournament year after year.  We check in on the diamond as Baseball and Softball were busy with another weekend of BIG 12 play.  Then, we will look back at a great first 4 days of the tournament, the stats, the upsets, and the buzzer beaters.  Finally, I give you my predictions of which teams will be heading to the Final Four after this next weekend of games.  Hope your bracket is doing better than mind but still holding out hope and pulling for our BIG 12 mates to continue winning.  Make it a great week and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

Our Knights have made the big dance and are in line to play 2 teams with great tournament history.  It all starts Friday night in Philly, where we will play UCLA who has been playing well as of late.  Both teams are fighting through injuries, and the game will likely turn into who is healthy, out of foul trouble, and executing at a high level.  Face it, our team has not looked good the past few weeks but are capable to challenge anyone if playing at their best.  Check out all my thoughts on the bracket in this episode.  I also recap the baseball and softball home series from the weekend as both face a challenging test this upcoming weekend.  It all gets underway today and look forward to a great sports week.  It has been some time since we have been in the tournament, and we are under the radar.  I have seen no one picking our team, talking about even a chance to beat UCLA, so we can just go in a play.  Either way, it has been a great year and enjoyed watching these players represent our great University.  Hoping the underclassman will stay next year and let's get something building here at UCF.  Good luck to all the teams and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

Neither game was pretty, but we get a much-needed victory against Cincy in Overtime before getting blown out by the 1st seed Arizona.  Now we wait and see where UCF will land in the bracket during the Sunday Selection Show.  I am hoping for a 10 or 11 seed in hopes to give us a better shot at making a run to the second weekend.  One thing is certain, if we cannot get healthy and find our shooting touch, it could be one and done for our Knights.  On the diamond, UCF baseball lost to Miami for the 2nd time and is hosting the first BIG 12 series versus Oklahoma State.  They took game 1 Friday and look to keep it going over the weekend.  The Lady Knights are hosting Baylor and also won on Friday in a pitcher's duel.  They also have 2 more games against them and are playing up to the #15 ranking so far this season.  Big series against Texas Tech next weekend and need to take as many as we can before that series.  Of course, I give you my results from the BIG 12 Tournament and other scores from around the nation.  Chaos is already started and getting excited about the tournament coming up next week.  Speaking of tournaments, I coached in my flag football one this week.  Advanced to the finals and ended up winning in overtime on the first play we called for the walk off.  Great season and looking forward to my Basketball season beginning when we return to school.  Hoping we get a good seed and that our Knight's teams can continue to show how we can compete in the league.  Thanks for tuning in and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

The shooting woes returned for the Knights as they made less than 40% of their attempts and struggle even more from 3 and the free throw line.  Will they be able to turn it around in time to win even one tournament game this week?  I give you my take on how I think the Knights will do, the results from the weekend, and how I see the tournament going for all the BIG 12 teams.  On a positive note, Softball won 2 of 3 against #12 Oklahoma State in Stillwater.  Timely hitting and pitching to come away with the first BIG 12 series of the year.  They will be off until they host Baylor next weekend.  Baseball hosted Murray State and swept the series.  Friday and Saturday they were in control for most of the game, but Sunday they would fall behind 9-4, allowing 5 runs in the top of the 8th.  In the bottom of the 9th, they rallied to score 6 runs with only 1 batter not reaching safely.  Big momentum as they will host ranked Miami who they blew a 5-0 lead to down south just a few weeks ago.  The madness is starting to ramp up.  Conference championships this week and I also am in the playoffs with my flag football team.  On top of all that, the 3rd quarter of school is wrapping up and looking forward to a great spring break week.  Go luck to our teams this week, and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

Our Men's Basketball team has dropped both home games to end the season and now more than ever needs a road victory against West Virginia to secure a top 8 seed and bye in next week's BIG 12 Tournament.  With the 111-104 loss in Overtime on Space U Senior Knight, they are now tied with Cincy who faces TCU.  Win and we are good, but a loss would mean TCU would have to beat Cincy or we would fall to the 9th seed.  Pressure is on.  Our Lady Knights are done as they fell to Kansas in the 1st round managing on 35 points in the contest.  What is at stake for the Women's Basketball team is up in the air and feel we will know soon if a coaching change is happening.  Baseball wins on Wednesday night versus FCGU and gets ready for a home series versus Murray State.  Softball heads to Stillwater to face #12 ranked Oklahoma State.  As always, I give weekly results, my predications for the weekend, and add in some tournament talk from the BIG 12 and NCAA.  Finally, my story is long but have to give props to Themus Fulks for his connection to my stepson.  He has made a fan for life and appreciate his interaction and time he gave my little man.  Just a great guy and wish him all the best in however far we go this season and in his future.  Thanks again and Go Knights, Charge On!

Just when it looked as if we were going to force overtime, a foul on a jump shooter left our Knights with a home loss against the Bears.  With 2 games left, they need to get some wins to ensure they have one bye in the BIG 12 Tourney.  Senior Knight Space Game on Tuesday as the Knights look to close out with a home victory.  The Lady Knights win at Houston and will be the #14 seed in the tournament.  They will face #9 Kansas on Wednesday night.  Will they win and advance, or will the season come to an end?  So much going on around UCF this weekend.  Baseball hosted USF and won Sunday to avoid the series sweep.  Softball was unbeaten hosting the Charge On Classic and now has the week off before traveling to Stillwater to face a ranked BIG 12 Cowgirls squad.  They are playing well and are ranked 23rd this week in the polls.  Of course, I cover the results from Saturday and what implications we have with a week to play.  My picks are in and we need to win and get some help to keep our position in 6th place for the end of season tournament.  It is crunch time and it is that way from me at work as well.  Coaching Flag Football, Basketball, and closing out the quarter preparing for exams.  Crazy time of year and I took Saturday to recharge with a day at UCF.  Baseball at 1pm, Softball at 5pm, and finished off with Basketball at 8pm.  Only a 1-2 day as both Men's teams lost.  Need a big week from Basketball as we have tomorrow and travel to West Virginia on Friday.  Let's do this...Go Knights, Charge On!

It was a late tipoff, but I manage to stay up and watch our Knights knock off #19 BYU in Provo in front of 18,000 fans.  This was a huge victory, on the road, versus a ranked opponent.  While I do think it really secures a seed in the tournament, we need to continue to win and gain momentum as we enter the end of BIG 12 play.  The Lady Knights fall to West Virgina on Senior Knight and have one last game in Houston to finish the season.  Hoping to get one last victory on a very difficult season.  Baseball and Softball have games this weekend at home, while men's basketball is set to host the Baylor Bears.  Full day of Knights sports on Saturday.  I take time to go over my picks from the week and predications for the weekend.  Then we have a segment to take about the tournament and what caught my eye in the projections.  Then, I finish up with reminding why I do my podcast as many new listeners may not be aware.  Hope all our teams around Knight Nation have a great weekend and get some victories.  Thanks for listening and as always, Go Knights, Charge On!

It isn't always pretty, but the UCF Men's Basketball found a way to get another BIG 12 road victory at Utah on Saturday.  Another big test awaits as they get ready to face BYU in Provo on Tuesday.  It is getting crazy in the conference and with only 4 more games for everyone the margin of error is shrinking.  Going to be an exciting 2 weeks.  The Lady Knights will finish up this week, and not sure if a change will be made in the off season.  On a positive note, Softball is off to a fantastic start notching another 5 victories in 6 games over the weekend as they hosted the Space U Classic.  Two victories over Ohio and Notre Dame, as well as a win over Charleston Southern, while only dropping a 6-5 contest to Penn State.  Freshman pitching and timely hitting are helping the Knights with the early success.  Baseball only won 1 of 3 in Jacksonville this week.  Pitching woes continue to haunt them like last year and the offensive explosion from the weekend prior did not show up in Jacksonville.  They will look to get back on track against JU on Tuesday before we welcome in our I4 rival USF Bulls for a 3-game series next weekend.  Of course there is always the update from my picks, more college basketball updates, and my predictions for the upcoming week.  Finish off with an update on my own teams I am coaching and looking forward to seeing how my teams perform. Men's Basketball gets a much-needed victory to break the 3-game losing streak against TCU at home on Tuesday.  While 8 of the Top 25 teams lose to unranked opponents.  Utah helps us by defeating West Virginia and now we head west to take on Utah on Saturday and BYU on Tuesday.  With 5 games left, the Knights need to continue to improve and get victories to help stay in the race of a tournament bid.  Our Lady Knights dropped their 8th straight game as they lose at home to Kansas State in yet another blow out.  With only 2 conference victories, and 3 games remaining, they will be lucky to get another victory before seasons end.  In Baseball, our Knights went down to Miami to play the 20th ranked Hurricanes and led 5-0 until the Bottom of the 8th when Miami scored 2 runs.  Then they followed it up with 3 in the 9th to send it to extra innings.  We would score 1 in the 10th and 13th only to fall to a two-run homer as we could not close out the victory.  Both Softball and Baseball have weekend games against multiple opponents.  Softball is hosting the Space U Classic as Baseball heads to Jacksonville.  As always, I go over how I did on my conference picks from the week and give my projections for Saturday's slate of games.  Then finish off with some news that was big this week in College Basketball adding my take on some of those topics.  It's another big weekend of sports and ready to see what our Knights can do.

Knights fall to .500 in the conference after getting outscored 36-15 in the last 12 minutes on Saturday.  They host TCU Tuesday, who is tied in the standings with the Knights.  Can they get a much-needed victory at home before the Utah road trips?  The time is now with only 6 games remaining and needing 9 to 10 conference wins to make the tournament.  The Lady Knights drop their 7th straight contest to a ranked Baylor team.  Only 4 games remaining to see if they can get some victories to close out the season.  On a positive, both Softball and Baseball had great weekends.  The ladies went 3-2, playing 3 ranked teams and knocking off #10 LSU on Saturday.  The men swept Siena with 3 run rule games in 7 innings.  I did better on predictions, but of course missed on our Knights, along with Arizona and Kansas.  Another BIG Monday for the BIG 12 as Houston travels to Iowa State and I give my predictions for all the weekday games and of course my take on UCF tomorrow night.  Lots happening around college basketball and a touch on a few topics to wrap up the episode.  Hope everyone had a great President's Day weekend and need a big week from Knight Nation.  Go Knights, Charge On!

With our Knights on the mid-week bye, the BIG 12 had some major games to watch this week and even some upsets.  Now we head into the home stretch with 7 games remaining, 4 at home and 3 on the road.  Can the Knights stop the slide and remain in the mix for a March Madness bid?  It is a race to 10 conference wins and none more important than the head-to-head matchup this weekend against the Mountaineers.  The Lady Knights fall by 50 to West Virginia on the road, while Softball picks up a comeback victory over Missouri.  I cover why I feel this weekend's game is so important and my thoughts on what the outcome may mean.  Also, college basketball is at a very exciting stage with teams making end of season runs to become tournament teams.  I talk about coaching rants, officiating, and more in my final segment.

It was an ugly display of basketball on Sunday in Cincinnati.  Now with the midweek bye, the Knights need to regroup as they will face West Virginia who they are tied with in the standings.  Lady Knights lose their 5th in a row as the schedule looks to have even more challenges with two ranked opponents coming up.  The Top 25 had some great matchups this weekend and even a few top teams fell.  The BIG 12 still has 6 ranked teams, with 4 in the top 10.  BYU stayed in but need to start winning some games if they expect a high seed in the tournament this year.  UCF must get 4 out of the next 7 I feel to be in and that will not be easy, especially if we do not play better than the past few games.  Softball is underway with a very successful weekend ending 5-1 and has another weekend slate in Clearwater.  Baseball with host their first series this weekend and need to perform better in 1 score games than they did last year to have a chance.  Now with football over, I am in full basketball intel for the upcoming March Madness.  Here is hoping our Knights can keep stay alive by taking care of business at home Saturday and next Tuesday.  Go Knights, Charge On!

If you thought Iowa State was bad, Houston said watch this.  Our Knights could not find shooting for the 3rd time this year on the road and could only manage 19 points in the first half.  While not quite 30 points, it was a very bad display of basketball and to be considered a tournament team we need to limit these blowouts for loses.  The Lady Knights also fell at home to Utah and with more top teams in conference to face, it could be a painful stretch for them.  The Knights were not the only ones struggling as I did not do well on my picks with one upset no one would see coming.  I give you my take on the games for this weekend and what I expect over the Knights next 5 games.  Softball is underway hosting a tournament this weekend and excited to see if they can make another playoff run this year.  And of course, I give you my pick for the Super Bowl.  Another great weekend of sports as football season will come to a close Sunday night.

Our Men's Basketball team gets its 2nd victory versus a ranked opponent at home during Saturday's Space Game.  Even with injuries and sickness of some players, Coach Dawkins had a great game plan, and they played more physical than the visiting Red Raiders to earn an 88-80 win to move to 6-3 in conference play.  The sit in 5th place as we head to face another ranked opponent, this time on the road in Houston.  Can the Knights pull off another victory to make it 4 in a row?  Meanwhile the Lady Knights fall in Ames to Iowa State and sit below the .500 mark for the first time this season.  It is not looking good for their chances to have a winning season.  Kansas takes down two ranked conference foes in 3 days and is showing that they may contend for a BIG 12 title.  I let you know how I did on my picks and what my predictions are heading into this week's matchups.  Also, should our Knights be ranked in the Top 25, and is a snub not to be.  I give you my take and last, we talk about this crazy weather we have seen the past few days in Central Florida.  Ready to see how our Knights fare in the game tonight and no matter the outcome, Go Knights, Charge On!

Our Knights are back to making us sweat out victories, but when we are getting wins, we will take it.  Johnny and the team knock off another Duke alum, Bobby Hurley and his Arizona State team on Tuesday.  We will now welcome in #11 Texas Tech at high Noon on Saturday.  Do the Knights have enough to get a huge statement win at home.  The Lady Knights head to Ames to take on Iowa State and need to show much improvement if they want a chance at a successful end of the season.  We also had some more great BIG 12 match ups this week with more to come this weekend.  I share how I did this week and what my expectations are for the games around the conference.  Last thing was I touched on the Football presser from Thursday.  Sounds like the staff is excited about the roster and ready to get moving towards Spring Practice. 

The UCF Knights secure another BIG 12 road win in Boulder on Saturday versus Colorado.  Now they head back home Tuesday to host Arizona State before facing two Top 12 teams from our conference.  The Lady Knights fell to #9 TCU on Saturday and home, losing by 17 points.  While it was not a close contest, the team outscored them in the second half and showed some positive attributes.  They will have the mid-week bye before they go on the road to face Iowa State on Saturday.  Can they improve enough to win 5 of the last 9 games to finish above .500?  We run down the Saturday games in the BIG 12 and what to expect in this week's match ups.  I also talk about my take on the 2026 UCF Football Schedule.  While I did not get into great detail, I do talk about some pros and cons I see for the fall.  Lastly, a recap of Sunday's AFC and NFC championship games and who is representing each division in this year's Super Bowl.

A tough loss in front of a sellout crowd for the Men's Basketball team.  Knights battled to within 2 a few times in the 2nd half but could not overcome critical misses and mistakes down the stretch.  They head to Ames to take on the Cyclones who have lost 2 in a row.  The Lady Knights defeat Colorado in the Space Game and now will face 2 ranked opponents.  I touch the other games in the Big 12, with more predictions for this week.  NFL divisional games were also played this weekend.  I give you my results and my take on the catch/interception.  Finally, the CPF championship was last night, and Indiana capped off a perfect season.  So many things going on over the 3-day weekend.  I hope everyone had a relaxing one as I was up both nights with ten 16-year-olds enjoying celebrating birthdays.
